I'm just not 100% sure if i'm going with Telus or Rogers...
It's 50$ for 500mb with telus and 65$ for 1g
with Rogers it's only 60$ for 1g so I dont know what to do...
Go telus with 500mb for 50$ or rogers with 1g for 60$, I dont wanna go with telus at 500mb and upgrade to 1g at the cost of 65$ since rogers is only 60$...
Any advice??

I just spoke to someone at the Fairview store, and I was told that they do all come unlocked from the factory, and if you purchase one with a contract, as part of the activation process, they are locked to the carrier you choose. I would assume that they don't come from the factory with a Micro-SIM card pre-installed then.

Thanks to everyone who offered their opinions/advice...in the end I went with Zagg, I just liked the fact they mentioned their side shield helps elevate the reception problem.
But wow, Best skin ever is so freakin cheap, their only like $7 bucks.

Is it confirmed that the iPhone will be released in canada on 30th? Is there any hint at a pre-order date. I know this has probably been done to death in this thread, but I am in the UK and asking for a very good friend. I got my iPhone on launch day over here as well as my wife and son. We al queued for quite a few hours before the store opened. I was able to pre-order about a week or so before. We had the choice of pre-order for delivery to home or reserve in store, which is what I did. Do you know if this is going to happen in Canada.
I apologise this has been covered, but as I say I have just looked in for a good friend and couldn't see much in the last half a dozen pages.

Call Telus. See if they can match Rogers.
If you are a frequent Data user, you might want to stick with 1GB. From what i hear, the 500MB flies out quick with the iPhone.
Yes, Apple has confirmed the iPhone 4 will launch in Canada (and 16 other countries) on July 30th. So far Bell is the only carrier that has public ally confirmed the date. Rogers and Fido have internally confirmed the date but have told their reps not to discuss it. We do not know about pre-orders, tomorrow is the last day for them to begin in order to match the initial launch. If nothing happens tomorrow (and I don't think anything will), chances are we're out of luck with getting to pre order.
Thank's for that. I know she is with Telus at the moment and is probably hoping to go with them. I have just checked and in the UK I was able to pre-order/reserve on Tues 15th June and picked up on Thurs 24th from the Apple store. Mine is sim free and unlocked. Do you know if you will be able to buy in an Apple store in Canada and if they will be doing sim free?
more than likely no pre-order here in canadaland...we never had it before. here...just walk in, call in and buy or order
Apple will most likely offer the sim free iPhone 4 in store/online/etc. The wording on the website makes it looks fairly clear they will be offering the iPhone 4 unlocked. I'm not sure if Apple will sell carrier locked devices in store, I know they can but I'm not sure how that will all work.
In the UK the Apple store was doing both upgrades and contracts in store. They had access into the systems of the various telcos for doing this. In our case O2, Vodafone and a few others I seem to remember. These were holding up the people who just wanted to walk in and buy a sim free, like myself. I was told that the ones sold on contract or PAYG were sold locked.
Japan never had a preorder before the iphone 4. Just sayin
Neither did the UK or France. So the Canada won't have a pre-order because it hasn't had one before is nonsense. There is still time. I believe we will see something on the Apple website Thursday, along with the free case information.
I don't think it has anything to do with past history on pre-orders. What I'm going by is that 1) Apple didn't mention pre-orders for any of the 17 countries getting the phone on the 30th; 2) going by the time between pre-orders and release date for the initial launch, unless pre-orders begin tomorrow the two don't line up. I don't think there is enough time to coordinate the launch and pre-orders in 17 countries in 9 days. I hope I'm wrong by once again, the silence from Apple and the carriers (with a slight exception of Bell) doesn't help.
Another optimist? wow thats a surprise. Finally someone who understands. I really believe there will be a preorder. And it will start wedensday, thursday or friday.

None, preorder and get it shipped to your house! Thats my plan.
Not Future Shop (or Best Buy) as they haven't announced if they will have it on launch day.
If you want it full price then get it from Apple Store (or pre-order online for full price when it becomes available). If you plan on renewing your contract then go to a Telus Store for the cheap price.

Man, I had the 6GB for $30 data promotional plan with my iPhone 3GS. But I sold it late May as I was anticipating an earlier release of the iPhone 4 here in Canada. I really use a lot of data. I browse a lot, and use maybe 2GB a month browsing; the rest of it I use to tether to my MBP to stream movies
So I've kept going on with my contract and I've kept paying the data fees even though I'm using absolutely none of it, in hopes that I can grandfather it into my iPhone 4 (I'm buying outright, not upgrading or anything). Hopefully Rogers doesn't pull some crap and disallow the continuation of this awesome plan. The 6GB promotional plan made a comeback with the 3GS, but I did all of this as I was afraid it wouldn't make another comeback this year with the 4. Anyone do the same thing with the iPhone 3G, upgrading to 3GS?

All signs point to no pre-orders. I just hope that on July 30, I'll be able to use the "Upgrade/renew your phone" in "Your account" at telusmobility.com to get my iPhone.
