All signs point to no pre-orders. I just hope that on July 30, I'll be able to use the "Upgrade/renew your phone" in "Your account" at telusmobility.com to get my iPhone. :D

What do you mean all signs? i think there are more signs pointing to a pre order then there are not. France, Japan ect never had a preorder before the iphone 4. And the set up on the apple site seems to lean towards a pre order if you ask me. And the biggest question, why not a pre order? what would apple have to lose from putting out a pre order? Nothing, if anything they will benefit.

Man, I had the 6GB for $30 data promotional plan with my iPhone 3GS. But I sold it late May as I was anticipating an earlier release of the iPhone 4 here in Canada. I really use a lot of data. I browse a lot, and use maybe 2GB a month browsing; the rest of it I use to tether to my MBP to stream movies

So I've kept going on with my contract and I've kept paying the data fees even though I'm using absolutely none of it, in hopes that I can grandfather it into my iPhone 4 (I'm buying outright, not upgrading or anything). Hopefully Rogers doesn't pull some crap and disallow the continuation of this awesome plan. The 6GB promotional plan made a comeback with the 3GS, but I did all of this as I was afraid it wouldn't make another comeback this year with the 4. Anyone do the same thing with the iPhone 3G, upgrading to 3GS?
If you have it then you keep it. The reps have been saying this for months and months, call them now if you want and ask =)
I got that 6gb plan and use well over 5gb a month and I am going to be locking into another 3yrs and keeping that 6gb plan.

The only place I see that you can get a pre-order done is through Apple.ca. I just don't see pre-orders happening for the subsidized pricing from the carriers... And as long as you are eligible for an upgrade you can upgrade on the 30th however you like, through their website and get the phone shipped to you a few days later or in store

so i've been hearing rumours that Rogers may not be getting the iphone on the 30th and getting it on the 2nd instead. hope to god it's not true.

Since Bell and Telus are getting it on the 30th, I would expect that Rogers will as well. If they didn't then that's FUBAR.

Rogers and fido sent out internal memos saying that it would launch iPhone 4 on the 30th, but haven't publicly announced it yet.

well that's what you would think but i maybe the whole ordeal between apple and rogers is coming back to bite rogers and rogers customers in the behind

Indeed, so there you go. Just announce it and prices already!
Actually they said apple announced a July 30th canadian release. then at the end of the memo it said "do not speculate to customers on the release date and pricing" or along those lines. that kind of makes me think a rogers delay may be a possibility.

There was a lot of rumor and speculation during the launch of the 3G, however none of it was ever confirmed. Regardless, Rogers pretty much made good on the situation so I highly doubt if there was any animosity between Apple and Rogers, it would still exist. I think the big issue with the iPhone 4 in Canada is the amount of carriers who (as of now) are at least planning on launching the phone. The August 2nd rumor started here and I believe it had to do with a rep telling a friend that while the iPhone 4 would be launched on the 30th, supply would be slim until the 2nd. How true this is, I have no idea, how Rogers plans on magically increasing their stockpiles over a Saturday and Sunday in Canada, I have even less of an idea.

"Bell was the first Canadian wireless carrier to publicly post that they would be carrying the iPhone 4 on July 30, 2010.

Soon after, this was followed by Rogers and Fido, except that Rogers/Fido posted their announcements interally and not publicly, but that did not stop us from posting it.

Now, Telus has caught up and posted their availability information page publicly on their website. Users can sign up and receive up to date information on the iPhone 4. Although I would argue that the iPhone related blogs (like ours!) will know information far sooner than Telus."

This was taken from iphoneincanada. What should we make of the bolded print? I read it as a confirmed Jul 30 date.

Just a heads up to Fido customers. If you want to jump over to Rogers, you don't have to pay a termination fee since it's the same company. You move your number over to Rogers, sign a new contract, get a new phone and then contact Fido. They'll verify that you've signed a 3-year contract with Rogers and let you leave Fido. And you'll have your old phone to do whatever you want with.

This is what Rogers told me last year. I imagine it's still the same but I'd check with them to be sure.

The only thing stopping me from actually making the move is the fact that I have the 6GB data plan. I'd rather not lose that, but if you're one of the people with less data, it might be worthwhile.

I do believe Bell and Solo mobile are the same company. I currently have a 2 year contract with Solo. Can I do the same thing, switch to Bell without the ETF? I'm sick of my BB pearl.

So I want to upgrade my current dumbphone to the iPhone 4 on launch day through a hardware upgrade with Rogers. Is it better to do this via phone or line up at a Rogers store (is it necessary)?

I've read somewhere (forgot where) that I wouldn't get as good deals in-store as I would via a phone call with a Rogers rep. Is that true?

Oh No!!!!

Telus has now removed the COMING ON JULY 30 from their homepage!! I'm worried that this may indicate a delay :(

You can change your plan with the rep on the phone and then walk in store and get the Hardware Upgrade.

I prefer talking with a rep because the store folks I find are just pushy and sell you the standard plans. If you recommit over the phone you get more incentives and freebies thrown your way.

Also remember that if you do not have a data plan you MUST get at least a $25 data plan in order to get the subsidized pricing. If you do not get a data plan you will have to pay full price. However the good thing is that if you get a data plan you can pay the $100 cancellation fee and you can continue to use your voice only plan and the iPhone without a data plan. The total cost of going this way is still cheaper than paying full price.

Good luck!

Well if your not on contract with Rogers anymore you can give retentions a call and threaten to leave because your getting a better offer somewhere else. They may be able to work something out with you if you re-sign with them. Then just use your upgrade on an iPhone either through them (probably take up to 5 days to receive) or in store.

To give you an idea, I was able to get a nice deal out of them this past June..

200 wkdy
Unl. eve/wknds after 6pm
rogers to rogers/fido/rogers home phone
Unl. incoming
1GB data
2500 txt
CD/VM

for $59.41 tax in.

And fully eligible for advertised price of the iPhone plus a $35 admin fee.

It is still there check again. And YES i just check and it is STILL THERE

This is so strange... if you access the Telus Mobility website with Safari you DON'T see it. IF you access it with Firefox you do... :D

Thanks for helping to relieve my anxiety hahaha.

Hey Guys,

So I got my iphone 3g in October (2008) it hasn't hit the 2 year mark yet. Does that mean I can't upgrade to the iphone 4 for the discounted price? :( (I've been so caught up in buying it all these weeks that I forgot all about the phone providers)

Btw..I'm with rogers

Thanks.

You are pushing it... If you have been a good customer then your upgrade does come early... But 3 months early is pushing it, try 2 months so August

Best bet is to call them and see. Perhaps we might get word soon from Rogers and their HUP if it will be early for everyone =)

I hope I can get it early..I have been a good customer to them for several years. I just hate waiting especially after all this time
