Torontonian here and I can say I want 1ounce of what yer smoking! I'll never be depressed in my entire life again. To be honest Leaf's suck! new stadium still nothing. Sundin took 1 million less his 3rd year as captian (I think I don't follow hockey) and STILL they couldn't make it to the finals. Face it they suck, you love the team, you keep on hoping - if marriages that were on the rocks had that much faith marriage lawyers would have to goto school for another career. We both love this city; but Leafs suck. Ppl that don't even watch a hockey game for years nor even know any name of a player still on the team know that the Leaf's suck.

Your blanket statements are pretty inaccurate.

I follow the Leafs on a daily basis, from hockey blogs to major sporting sites and everything in between... they all say one thing; the Maple Leafs are 'rebuilding' the team without relying solely on the draft. Going the draft route would require putting together a string of last place finishes - this is something that Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment is not willing to put up with. There is a ton of extra revenue generated for your franchise when you make the playoffs! So, Brian Burke, the leafs GM, has been assigned to that task - bring the Toronto Maple Leafs back to playoff contention.

The team itself is now the youngest in the league. We traded for Phil Kessel (in what was a VERY controversial deal). Traded for J.S. Giguere. Traded for Dion Phaneuf. Picked up Colby Armstrong (the new Darcy Tucker). Picked up Kris Versteeg of the Cup winning Blackhawks. Drafted Nazem Kadrim, a young dangler who will undoubtedly play this year. Bolstered our defense with Beauchemin and Komisarek, and even got the best goalie outside of the NHL in Jonas Gustavsson.

Let's also not forget that Kaberle should be traded within the next couple of weeks for a forward to pair up with Kessel.

Be prepared to see a better Leafs team this year. While I agree that they are still not a great team, the potential is there. Young players are finally getting their chances. Grit and toughness are oozing from this lineup. We have some skill in net and on defense.

It's really easy for people in Toronto to say "Leafs suck!". But those are usually people who don't know anything about the future of this team.

Hahaha. In July no less!

now i wouldn't say people that say leafs suck don't know anything about the team. but when you don't make the playoffs for a while and end up last or second to last place at the end of the year, you can say they suck.

but they are rebuilding the team and doing it very well. i love the way they are headed (hopefully they keep giggy and the monster for the next few years) and they get to the finals. they have the team building right imo, and should be a strong team this coming year. big players, great players, and just need to work on the strategy and team work.

Excellent work everyone. This is going to be an interesting launch...and the first year that I've gotten really excited about getting the phone AS SOON as it becomes available. For the 3G and 3GS I waited months to upgrade.

I already have my case ready for the iPhone 4's body. Anyone else? I picked the CaseMate Gelli case.

Going black again this year - always stylish. The white looks a bit too "la-dee-dah".

I'll be going with the black iPhone 4 as I've went with black for the 3G & 3GS.
I do like the white though too. What do you think...will finger prints and scratches be less noticeable on the white than the black?

I like the case you choose...I wish I could just go with a case like that, but I am so used to having a vertical belt clip case I just can't go back. It's so easy to just slip it in and out and not have to worry about where you put your phone last. The case itself is Belkin slim fit, it's actually quite nice. I've also ordered a Zagg shield to go with it. I just hope with all the sliding in and out of the Belkin case that the Zagg shield doesn't peel off.

The Toronto Maple Leafs DO suck. But, not because of how they play hockey.

Look at the price of everything Leaf related at the ACC, from Tickets to $12 hot dogs, it's business and a cash cow for the unions who own it.

Winning a cup, building the best team is not the "Businesses" priority, those who think it is, Players included are ignorant to the facts.

That is freakin hilarious!! I guess the stereotype is correct...never thought I'd say that! haha

What shall we talk aboot next, some Canadian bacon?? lol

Yeah, i really hope that the White iPhone is available on Launch day here in Canada. And I'm hoping Best Buy has it on July 30th!!

The Cherry on top would be if Best Buy opens early for the Launch. I can possible head there before going to work then. (The only problem with this is me trying to get work done while having a brand new iPhone sitting on my desk tempting me to play with it!)

P.S. Leafs SUCK! And they aren't going to be winning the Stanley Cup anytime soon!

HAHA I know what you mean about not being able to play with it and the temptation of it all. I ordered a Zagg shield protector and on the website it says once the shield is applied to not use the phone for 24hrs to let the film set properly.

Ohhhhhhh the agony of it all! lol

I had a Zagg shield for my Blackberry.
It's good cause it protects the phone from scratches and all, but also makes the whole phone SHINEY!! I hated that part! It changed the whole look of the phone and made it look cheap. Also at times the scrolling became tough to do with the touch screen. I ended up taking the skin off after a week and bought a regular screen protector and nothing else.

With all that being said, i think i'll have to be a bit more careful with the iPhone. The Blackberry I had was built tough. I think the iPhones are a bit more fragile. My sister has broken 2 iPhones. Then she ended up getting a Blackberry and it's taken far more abuse and still kickin'!

I think at the end of the day, i'll get the "free" bumber and hope for the best!

Someone on the iPhone in Canada Blog forums posted that a Bell store received their iPhone's including white models already. I'm not surprised the shipping process has started but it's a but surprising that the individual stores are receiving them. If more stores get them I would expect some major chatter starting soon, especially if they hit Future Shop and Best Buy. I would be really curious to see if the phones are in their system yet and to see the break down on orders.

There can't be any truth to that post at iphoneincanada. No Bell stores have any iPhone4s in stock yet. ;)

Leave it to a bunch of Leaf fans to hijack the Canadian iPhone thread and turn it into a 'how bad the leafs suck' thread. Your Leafs suck worse than my Canucks and they suck pretty bad so........maybe we could combine the two teams and make the ultimate sucky team of the universe.

Haha, the Canucks aren't that bad. They just haven't had an answer for the Blackhawks the last couple of years. That and Luongo can't seem to gain any confidence in the playoffs.

Still top 5 in the west though!

Lol- guys alright lets tone down the Leaf's talk and concentrate on the new iphone.

I am so excited for its realease on Friday. However, I am having trouble deciding which color i should get. I have had a black 3g and really like the sleekness of the phone but I kinda am wanting white. I am just afraid that it will look to toyish if you get my jist.

I want the 32gb of the phone, however, my mother begs to differ. Now, I am a university student working full time so i will be purchasing the phone with my own income but she still feels inclined to help me make deicisons on my purcahses. She thinks that 16GB is enough for me but i want 32. Her argument is that i sync it often and take things off to make space- oh dear.

Im stumped as to what case i should get too. right now i sport the rebel on my 3g and love it. It has a lip which allows me to place the phone face down which i do quite frequently at work for privacy reason. I really like the switcheasy nude but the absence of the lip is a deal breaker.

Alright, no more Leafs talk, I swear.

I can't decide between white or black either. I currently have a 16gb white 3G. I too am leaning towards a white iPhone 4 though.

I would go with 32gb if you can spare the extra cash. The extra room for recording video in HD will come in handy for me since I go to quite a few concerts and like to shoot video. But that's just me.

Yes, the Leafs suck, and it pains me badly, but I continue to live in hope that I will see them win a Cup. And I did literally beg my stepfather not to give up his season's tickets, even though every year he grumbles a little more loudly about shoveling out the cash to watch the Leafs blow it. :D

Anyhoo... in answer to an earlier question, I just got a white MacBook for my birthday, so I guess that clinches it; I'll be getting myself a white iP4 to replace my current black 3G.

Also in answer to an earlier question, I'll get one of the free cases that Apple is offering, but I won't use it on a regular basis. With my 3G, I mainly use the case if I don't have anywhere convenient to carry the phone; then I'll clip it to my waistband or the strap of my purse or bag. As with my 3G, I'll be ordering some skins from iStyles to protect from scratches. And I'll probably continue to use a Power Support Anti-Glare Film on the screen. I just can't stand to bulk up my phone! The thought of using an ugly bumper makes me shudder. ;)

Speaking of which, does anyone know what the Rogers policy actually is regarding damaged handsets? I've seen that commercial where the two guys drop their phones and the one guy says hey, just take it to Rogers and they'll give you a new one. Is it really that easy to have it replaced?

SF,
I agree with SDAO. With the new HD recording the 32G is a must...unless you dont intend to use it to record video. My twin girls are 1 year and a month and my iPhone 3gs has been my source for the recording of their life since day one. I cannot wait to start the memories in HD.
I went with the Vaja case and pre ordered it so hopefully it will show up soon. Expensive but worth every penny. I have owned three previous and also the Vaja for my iPad as well. Literally, works of art for a phone that deserves that kind of love baby!

What to do?

I currently have a BB 9700 which I love but I am a sucker for a new gadget and well I already have an iPad so owning the iPhone is just a sensible next step (sharing apps). The only thing is I hear the BB slider might be coming out in August and from what I've seen online it looks very sweet too. Oh how I wish I was a gadget reviewer it would save me soo much money and I'd get to try all these new phones out.

So I'm in a quandary do I get the iPhone, antennagate an all. Wait and get the Slider or wait until the end of September and get the iPhone 4.1 which may or may not exist by then. Decisions, decisions :)
