I highly doubt stores in Canada will sell out of the iPhone 4.

Agreed. Im going to either go and line up at the store at around 6 on launch day. Or just order it online (if possible). I dont plan on waiting all night and be ther first person in Canada to get one. I dont mind being 50th in line. In Edmonton i dont think the lines will be too insane.

I'm in Stoney Creek/Hamilton and am planning on going to either the Rogers store @ Eastgate Mall at 7A.M. or the one on Queenston Road near Lake Ave.

God I want preorders soooooo bad! I hate lines!!

Ya, Hamilton should be a bit quieter than downtown Toronto lol. Preorders seem like it would be too complicated for the carriers..

Anyways so why dont people go to the applestore instead of Rogers Plus or Rogers Wireless?

To beat the lines. The Apple stores are going to be PACKED. I wonder if "Costco Mobile" kiosks will be getting shipments.

anyone from markham on here? im planning on (a) going to my local rogers plus store early in the morning or (b) driving a bit more up north, unionville/stouffville area and hoping that it wont be as busy there

HOFO ANNOUNCEMENT

Finally some info!!...

(13) Be warned: This is the same shipment package as the AT&T ones, with the "death touch" Antenna situation & he did confirm Replacement Free Cases / Bumpers - as announced by Apple .

What exactly does this mean? Has Apple shipped some of the early builds of the iPhone 4 to us? I'm wondering what week they are...

It doesn't really make sense for them to send us early week models.

Broken models? That sucks :(

I'm not sure how much I'd believe this, every rep is saying something different. Although the +HST is wrong, there is NO HST on any type of cellular phone. You'll only have to pay 13% tax in Ontario for the iPhone. Second, 13 makes no sense as there is no magical iPhone shipping, we're simply getting the same device the rest of the world has or is receiving.

last I checked the ontario HST is 13%

FFS... can we stop quoting Hofo here? It's the only place which has a worse rumor track record than both these forums and the iphoneincanada forums.

Worse? I dunno about that. I think thats the place to go to get most up to date info regarding the carriers.. of course there's going to be some misinformation/rumors there as well.

Best Buy's website shows July 30th for all carriers including Rogers Fido and Virgin Mobile

So I suppose that would be another option to go to on July 30th :)

So I talked to my nearest Fido and Wirelesswave stores yesterday. I went swimming with my 3GS last week (ouch) and was asking what I needed to do to upgrade to the iPhone 4 - I'm only a year into my contract, not eligible for upgrades - basically, they both said that whoever was working would probably refuse to sell me a phone, because they make commission on contracts, not phones sold, and the phone they would sell to me would sell to someone else for sure. Has anyone else heard of this? Is this legal/allowed? One of them even suggested canceling my contract and going with another carrier, as it would likely be about the same price as just buying a phone outright. Pretty pissed about this.

I'm about to cake, Fido Customer Service, and ask about this.

Anyone else hear of anything like this?

Yah there is confirmations now on Hofo about people calling Rogers and actually been told Rogers is releasing it Canada wide July 30th.. No delays or anything.

Head over to a corporate location. Fido is owned by Rogers... same third-party thing going on. The corporate locations are (IMO) less likely to do this / not allowed to.

You can buy it without a contract at Fido.. shouldn't be a problem.

Edit : iphone in canada notes that Fido is possibly all commissioned reps. unless I read his post wrong. dunno. oh well.

You guys are talking about using dumb phones.... i have NO phone. My contract is still active. I'm still paying my bill, but haven't had a phone for about 2 weeks and still have another week to go....

This is killing me. Missing so many important messages and don't get to check emails till i get home everynight. Such a struggle!

Me too. I've been without my iPhone 3GS since July 1. It sucks.

So...no white iPhone until later this year. Guess everyone that wanted one is going to just get a black one. :D Unless of course they wait.

anybody living in Calgary Alberta getting the iPhone 4 on launch day? I don't know where to go...

I am. I`ll be going to Market Mall Apple Store in the morning to pick up an unsubidized unit. You going to go before opening? Never hurt's to chat to people! :)

Yeah with no phone, Black is going to quickly become the new White for me!!

Options are simple:

1. Buy black on July 30 and be happy you're enjoying the phone from the earliest possible opportunity.
2. Wait patiently for white and be happy knowing you're going to be 100% satisfied in the end.
3. Either of the above, but b*tch and moan and make life generally disagreeable for everyone around you over a phone.

:)

Good point. For me, I'd rather not be on a contract anymore but I need a new phone. My 3G is water damaged. So, I'm that's why I'm open to HUP or unlocked.

This really shouldn't be an issue anymore due to the new law... it costs 50$ to cancel a plan now plus the discount you got for your subsidised phones.... I'm signing a 3 year contract with Rogers, if I cancel one month after I will only need to pay the difference between the full priced phone and the price I got... so $799 - $299 = $500 + $50 (admin fee or something like that) and obciously, this decreases as you have less and less months on your contract.

Same here, but without my 3GS since like May 29th :(

The 50$+Phone subsidy cancellation is only for Quebec as they enacted new consumer protection laws.
