i dont see any updates to Australian store - still no order capability - and that really bites Q

Yes, but at least you have a date showing; we're still waiting on that.

Oh, and this is what the * is for:

*iPhone 4 is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Limit two per person.

From iPhoneincanada - internal Rogers memo:

http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/ishot-433.jpg

Last year, Rogers provided a special iPhone upgrade that gave iPhone 3G owners the chance to upgrade to iPhone 3GS before their normal hardware upgrade eligibility. This year, we’re doing it again – and we’re expanding it to give millions more customers the chance to get an iPhone 4 at a discounted price! Every Rogers customer with a smartphone, quick messaging device, or regular cellphone (purchased on contract before June 7, 2010) is eligible for a discount on a new iPhone 4!

At time of launch, an eligibility tool will be introduced on Rogers.com that allows customers and sales representatives to validate their eligibility for exclusive offers and discounts based on their profile. The link (and all additional HUP information) will be available in Sales Central, so keep an eye out for it!

Good news for everybody.

Don't you think they'd use an iphone 4 for the upgrade phone? And would they title the ad "HUP"? And it looks like the network on the upgrade phone is O2-UK! LOL!

Man, your English is piss-poor. This is an internal training document, if you'd flex your grade 5 reading level. HUP is a Rogers term, we didn't make it up here.

Leave their English out of it. It's an ugly looking document, internal or not.

Huh? How is my English poor? Everything I mentioned is true. I take it that you attempted this photoshop collected from google image searches. You don't think Rogers would use a picture of a real iphone 4? And they would use a UK network in the picture? Sounds like you are in Grade 5, not my English skills.

looks like the info that I thought was BS (customers who purchased a smartphone prior to June 7th getting at least a partial subsidy) was actually true. We can't be too happy just yet (because the specifics are yet to be determined) but this looks like an awesome deal!

that rogers image is not an ad. Customers would not have access to SalesCentral. That is why they can use the title HUP for an internal memo/document.

edit. HEY nasa25 from HOFO!

Anyways...yeah the document is rather sketchy. The majority of the information matches up with info from a member on the iPhone in Canada Blog last week. So either it's someone getting a tad "creative" with that info or it's legit. Although with the odd images and the fact this is quite different from previous sales central memos, (i.e; an image rather than a text based message, no inter all reference #'s, etc) I'm not sure I'm willing to believe it's the real deal.

This whole HUP thing really gets me going. My 3g phone died at the beginning of June, 2 years into my contract. I tried to get Rogers to help me out in some sort of way with a loaner or cheap replacement but found no joy. My case actually was bumped up to the President's Office due to rude customer service...but that's another story. Basically, if I purchase any subsidized phone, I would be ineligible for a HUP for another 6 months. I can't see them waiving their policy for anything purchased after June whatever.

Has anyone heard of a SIM to Micro-SIM cutter??

I heard it's a preset cutter which helps you cut a regular SIM to the size of a Micro-SIM.

I might be in need of one!

This includes Mini SIM to Micro SIM adapter:

Personally though, I would save that $25 and DIY. It's not that difficult:

Does anyone know if the iPhone 4 will have to be purchased with a credit card like the iPad when purchased at the apple store?

WHY must you purchase the iPad with a credit card for?! "MUST" is pretty strong even when cash is immediate, like cash in hand or debit card? I've noticed there is no cash register at Apple stores and for their safety I'm glad.

Personally I'm not cutting a SIM card to work in an iPhone ... to me that is just super cheap and ridiculous.

New work week, new job, make that cheddar and either purchase this Friday or wait a week or two. (I hate that rent is next week too along with iPhone 4 launch)

I'll say yes it would be credit card (or debit card) only and no cash. This allows them to track it and possibly refuse if you buy more than 2...

But we will see what the policy is later this week

Thanks for the info! Yeah i don't see myself spending $25 on a cutter. I rather just buy the micro-sim for $10 instead... LOL

BTW where did you get the "adapter" from?

It sounds Fido (and I guess rogers as well) won't have the iPhone to be released on July 30. I just called fido's customer services, and I was told that it should be released on that specific date, but they haven't received any iPhones yet which is ironic.

I'm expecting no pre-orders whatsoever for this phone. Need to lineup (if it comes on time) and that's it.

Update: I just got an email from BestBuy canada and I quote:
Best Buy Mobile is thrilled to announce that the iPhone 4 will be available in our stores July 30th, on your choice of carrier!

more information on this link:

At least good news to read official statement from an authorized retailer.

Oh, come on, this waiting is ridiculous! Why can't we even get advance information about pricing? My partner is going to buy an iP4, and his Rogers contract has expired, so we want to shop around for the best deal for him. This is a heck of a way to sell a product: don't tell anyone exactly when and how they can buy it, how much it will cost or what your monthly plan offerings are. What exactly is the holdup here??

Want to sell my iPhone, and was gonna do it locally (kijiji) to prevent scams etc..

The phone is currently locked to Rogers here in Canada. But I was gonna unlock it and then it allows me to broaden the market to Telus or Bell customers.

This is a 3G, 8GB.

My question is currently the phone is jbed and running 3.1.3. Whats my better route to go? Restore and unlock while its on 3.1.3 or upgrade to iOS 4 and then Unlock? Can iOS 4.0.1 even be unlocked?

I guess what im gonna have to tell if someone buys it that plans on running it on Telus/Bell that incase they ugprade the fw their gonna lose the unlock correct?

Thanks!

The holdup here is:

#1) Rogers has competition to deal with this time. They don't want to release their plans early, and have Bell/telus/etc modify their 'scheduled' plans to beat rogers, so everyone is going to wait till the last minute. Contradictory to this point though, Rogers released the plans last year approx 12 hours before launch, when they were the sole carrier. (AT&T seems to announce their plans, etc, weeks in advance since they are the only carrier though)

#2) Remember when Rogers released their plans for the 3G a week before launch? All they got out of it was bad press due to being stingy on data, etc. So now, the closer they release the plans to the 30th, the less time the press will have to bash rogers and company.

#3) Why exactly is rogers in a 'rush' to release these plans? What do they have to gain? Have you noticed that Apple put nearly $0 into advertising the iPhone 4? They know people will line up to buy it no matter what, so rogers doesn't even have to release the plans at all. I wouldn't be shocked if they said "sorry, we're not releasing our plans out loud publicly.. come in store to see them on launch day!", and people would still go and it would be sold out.

I'll be surprised if we hear anything by Wednesday, i'm expecting some sort of announcement Thurs. night, between 9 p.m and midnight.

Well I just sold my 3GS on kijiji this past weekend for $450

I would think having your phone unlocked on a previous firmware is much more a selling point then having a fresh 4.0 locked.

I mentioned in my add that my phone has fresh 4.0 but has the old bootrom so once an unlock is released you'll then have the choice of using any carrier of your choice.

Good luck and let us know what happens and how much you get for it.
