unlocked phones

Still no pricing on the unlocked phones huh...I am heading to BC with my gf to get one for TMobile USA. Do you guys have any recommendations on where to go? We'll probly end up waiting from 2-3AM. Anyone wants to meet up with some Americans? lol So glad to be near Canada...ATT's grip on the iphone sucks

you americans might wanna make sure that apple will even sell you one without a canadian credit card. like apple did after the original iphone came out and everybody was buying em. they wouldnt sell them to you unless you used an american credit card or something.

plus, I cant have all you americans takin our precious iPhones that we had to wait an extra month for.

If I go early, I will probably go an hour before or something. I had no problems last year getting one, and I even showed up at 3:30 pm and got one.

What... 2-3am... anyone else planning to show up at like 6-7am??

Since I'm with Virgin Mobile I don't think there will be many people waiting. Well not as much as with Rogers. I will get there maybe 1-2 hour before the kiosk opens. If I'm the only guy there then I'll go buy breakfast since it's in a mall :p

I'll trade you my ATT locked iPhones :D lol I'll pay cash or something then. Should not be an issue then right? But thank you for the headsup. That makes a lot of sense. I don't think anyone else is planning on buying a crapload and reselling - at least not on launch day. The people buying them unlocked have been selling them on ebay (European unlocked iphones). Think about it this way, I'm helping the Canadian economy :p

2,3AM???!!
God bless you apple geeks. you make this world a little funnier ;)

nice, that makes me feel less anxious lol

Yeah, it might be different this time, who knows. Only way to find out is to show up.

Question for whoever has the answer:

I keep reading about "renewing your 3 year contract and getting the subsidized pricing"

Does that mean that I can go to Rogers Plus, renew my 3 year and get the 32GB for $299? I get to keep my 6GB/$30 too right?

I would avoid going to the downtown Apple Store. Go to the Oakridge centre Apple Store. It will be less crowded as it is fairly new, and as well, not as popular as the downtown

Yeah, assuming you're eligible for an upgrade, you would have to resign a 3 year term for voice and data to get the $299 pricing. It would renew the term for you're 6GB plan.

no way i can go line up that early.. i'd prob go for 6-7. still not sure where i'm going to go though

Im gonna go over at lunch hour..

I just sold my 3G.. very sad to see the bad boy go..

Now i gotta wait for the i4

So if I'm eligible for any upgrade, I can just re-sign and get it for $299?

Hopefully tomorrow we will hear about HUP details, if not then Thursday.

Man I lined up at 7PM the night before the iPhone 3G launch in Ottawa at the flagship Rogers store (and then ran to another one an hour later when the manager said they only had 64 units for sale the next day...I was 65th in line). If I had been maybe 2 hours later there's no way I would have got one at either location, and since I went to the two biggest locations in the city, I'd assume the situation was the same elsewhere. All of this 2-3AM business sounds awfully optimistic for Carrier stores. You're probably OK getting there around that time for the Apple Store, but I'd be there the night before if you want it from Rogers, Bell, etc.

I dont function too well in public if im sleepy/tired. So im gonna have breakfast at home, then go into work, have lunch and then go over during lunch hour to pick up my iphone 4.

I mean i just get rude/impolite during morning hours..

Or my other option is.. Just let someone else get the iphone and maybe wait a month? Until they release the monthly plan is way to expensive them, then get the iphone at a even more "subsidized price" ;)

Just kidding

Definitely as in, yes I can get it for $299 if I'm eligible for any of the upgrade offers if I re-sign for 3 years?

Yes lol. If you're eligible for a hardware upgrade then you would get the 199/299 pricing by resigning for 3 years.

Story seems to be true now.

Competition is always good news for consumers.

Yes lol. If you're eligible for a hardware upgrade then you would get the 199/299 pricing by resigning for 3 years.

Hehe, sorry, I like to make sure about things. :D

Well I think there's a very good chance that almost everyone is going to be eligible for some kind of hardware upgrade. If it is the same as last year (probably not, maybe better) then I would be eligible for the $549 price. Why pay that when I can re-sign and get it for $299?

Yeah, I know about the whole 3 year contract BS, but who really cares, I'm staying with Rogers forever with my iPhones, no plans on switching, so 3 years doesn't matter to me.
