Since when does anything on the Rogers site work properly, especially on the first day they introduce it? I'm sure when I actually go to upgrade with an actual human being, they'll give me the right price.

Agreed. I'm on a corporate discount so the normal stuff never seems to apply to me.

how many units you think each Bell store has? I called a rep and he said there will be one for everyone (?). As well he said that he expects there won't be a huge turnout for it?

It's no longer showing me $649/$749, but now $399/$499. Makes sense per redboard. However, I signed up in July 2009, and my wireless bill has been over $150 each month. So, screw you Robbers. Calling retentions tomorrow. Should have done this a while ago.

Fido hardware upgrades

Does anyone know if FIDO will be doing hardware upgrades in store tomorrow? I'd like to hit the eaton centre location and upgrade my 3G.

Also, I am guessing I will have to sign a new 3 year agreement. I'm paying pretty much 100 per month all in with the 6gb data plan. Will I be able to trim that plan down any? I really dont need all that data since I got the 3g ipad.

Or will I have to sign the same terms etc as my previous contract which I still have a year left on?

I also have enough fidodollars to get the 32gb model for free!

The big Fido store in downtown Vancouver told me they wouldn't be doing hardware upgrades-new customers/expired contracts ONLY.

my gf's bill is pretty high too (she upgraded to 3g in Feb 09). I think that rogers will adjust the price of the iPhone down from 399/499 for high revenue accounts. They won't have the ability to look at revenue on the account as it relates to the upgrade pricing until tomorrow. Right now they are just looking at upgrade dates and giving a blanket price, irregardless of account revenue

I am in Montreal and after chatting with Rogers customer service, the Apple Store here, a Rogers franchisee and here and Howard Forums it appears the best chance for my getting an iPhone 4 tomorrow via HUP is to go the Apple store.

The Rogers Franchisee said they are going to get very limited stock tomorrow and they are not going to do HUPS. He said Rogers Corporate would get a lot more but he felt that it is going to be really tight there too with supply. Speaking to the Apple Store here it seems they are getting in large quantities and I was advised they WILL be doing HUPS.

I am not prepared to line up at 3 am or thereabouts and am thinking of taking my chances between 9-12 am tomorrow.

Anything wrong with the above?

Does anyone know if Apple @ Square One will enough stock (32 GB) for
upgrades?

I could pick it up at my local Rogers store but I don't know if an Apple store will still have stock around 4:00pm. I wonder how good is the experiance is compared to Rogers? Only a fancy iPhone bag and risking not geting anything?

Is going to the Apple store for an upgrade worth it? Will the give me the right pricing (Rogers over the phone said I'm eligible to upgrade at new customer pricing)?

From all accounts the Apple Stores have access to the Rogers, Bell and Telus databases so this should not be a problem. I really do not know if Rogers Corporate stores are going to do HUPS. I hear that "they should" and Rogers over the phone is saying I should go to Rogers Corporate stores. But I hear constrained supply as opposed to Apple stores.

Personally, I think the Apple Stores may be the best bet. They are going to be doing HUPS, new accounts and unlocked phone purchases, but I think taking into account stock quantities and large numbers of staff this will more than counterbalance the fact that a lot of people will be going to Apple stores as opposed to Bell Telus and Rogers stores.

So one line is now correct on rogers.com

but the other line upgraded to iPhone 3G in August 2008, and according to that redboard announcement should be eligible for 159/269, but it's saying 649/749. So it's still not properly fixed.

That's disappointing.

So how does the upgrading at the Apple store work? Is the phone you get from the apple store (even if I am with Fido) unlocked, or do they lock it to the carrier that you're with? I definitely don't want to pay the full price for the phone.

I'm so confused on that.

OMG, you forgot to type

Thanks
AE

Anyways, I have not registered online to see my account details. What do I need to register my account to rogers.ca?

haha i lol'd

question, my cousin upgraded to 3g in 2008 (around sept/oct) then she again upgraded to 3GS at launch last year. But here price still shows $399/$499.
did someone who upgraded both in 2008 and 2009 get the 159$ price to show up on the checker?

thanks

Hey folks, been following this thread, very interesting wrt plans, etc. Anyway, the fido site tells me I'm eligible to upgrade to the 16g for $159. I was surprised as I still have 16 months left on my contract.

I was all set to buy the unlocked version for full price but a savings of nearly $500 plus fido bucks has me rethinking. The only thing niggling at me is that I have read here that fido stacks the contracts. This is very unattractive to me.

Do we have confirmation that this is true? Also, I haven't been able to find any info that fido will offer a shared plan with the iPad, if so I'm all over that

I don't think I can turn down that deal even if they do stack contracts, but the principle of it has me wavering.

So anyone else in the same scerario? I did a HUP last year to the 3GS on July 28th, and my "special upgrade price" is 649/749 for the iP4. Does that come up for you guys as well that upgraded last July?

So I got my sister to call Rogers (as my mom who is the account holder), still no dice. Wouldn't budge whatsoever. Bad luck?:(

So now that the HUP tool is working properly, it tells me that I'm eligible to buy the 32GB iPhone 4 for $499.

Works out great, got $500 cash for my 3GS! Can't wait for tomorrow.

does anyone know if dealers sell the phones sealed or if they open it for you to activate it? or do they tell customers to activate at home on itunes?

For those of us still seeing the full price as of 7:40 PM EST, do you know if a rep over the phone can tell us the correct price? Otherwise, is the only option to stand in line at a store?

im sure it was mentioned before but what time does fairview apple store open tom? im planning on waking up early and just going there. And i think someone mentioned it already, but wanna confirm: They will sell phone for carriers aswell, right?

thanks

The hup eligibility tool is correct now. Note if you put the wrong postal code it shows full price ( use all caps ). If its still showing full price odds are you may be out of luck :(
