The CANADIAN iPhone thread.....

I wish everyone success, but I think it's reasonable to expect that some people will be disappointed by this time tomorrow.

(Not by the iPhone, just the carrier bs)
 
Can retentions add on the 6gb/month data plan now before it is released tomorrow?

I'm on an expired Rogers contract and paying out the ass right now with no discounts, looking to reduce my bill / go somewhere else but if I pick up the phone tomorrow from Rogers I would be on a 3-year contract...

Currently paying $130-$500 monthly (quite a bit of overseas calls being an international student) but even the base bill without the international calls is ~$110 after tax.

Any advice would be great.

Oh good, Fido's upgrade eligibility calculator is working!

You are eligible to upgrade to iPhone 4 16GB at $159 (after a $490 bill credit or discount off the no-term price) and 32GB at $269 (after a $480 bill credit or discount off the no-term price), each with a 3 year Fido Agreement and Data Add-on. When will Telus finally release their pricing information and if they're going to do the 6GB for $30.:mad:
 
So I have 2 lines that were both upgraded to different phones last April 2009. However one line is showing the 399/499 price, and the other is showing 159/269? Makes no sense at all. I called Rogers but they have absolutely no idea.

Its still not right, as I upped to a 3GS on launch day last year from a 3G launch day 2008...still says 399/499

I dont care at the moment since I'm getting an unlocked unit...I'll deal with it when I need to when I get my Rogers one and extend my contract
 
Rogers seems to be working now. I bought the 3G on launch day and now my upgrade is listed as $159 $269 !! Woot!!

I'll be at the Rogers store at 7:45 tomorrow morning!!

no.. but it must not be 100% reliable that upgrade check.

my buddy upgraded to a BB Bold in may 2009. then upgraded to a BB Bold 9700 in May 2010. he doesnt have a high revenue account, and now since they updated that eligibility checker it shows $159 pricing for him...
 
If I get a discount because of the company I work for on my personal account, does that make me a corporate customer or am I something else?

The fine print for Corporate Customers isn't making this sound good for me:

Corporate customers
Please note that corporate customers have defined upgrade timelines per their corporate contract with Rogers and will need to follow their regular business process for upgrade eligibility inquires
 
i haven't been to a fido store in ages....can they alter my plan there or do i have to call them to make changes to my plan?
 
I called Rogers and asked if I could do the HUP over the phone and have it shipped to me. They said they couldnt do it today since it isnt out, but they told me to call back tom.

Is this legit?

I plan on doing this with Fido, if the store is sold out when I finish work tomorrow at 2:30pm. I don't *need* it on launch day but would like it ASAP.

No one's doing pre-orders, but it's officially out tomorrow so I can't see why you couldn't HUP over the phone.

I went to the Rogers Plus store. They showed me their screen and I wasn't eligible. 2 reps on the phone before said I was good for the full discount. After the store visit, another rep on then phone said since I got my 3G in Sep 08, I need to wait but that I should call in and see if I could early upgrade.

I don't believe the last guy since he didn't even know the price of the phone today while the other reps said otherwise.

I really don't want to drive 1hr+ to the Apple store to suffer the same problem.

What would I do? I'm month to month so I sholder be eligible

Ya, I dont need it tom. Im going to call Rogers tom morning, I just hope I wont be waiting weeks to get it though. Hoping Ill get it by the next weekend...

Screw retentions, I just added the $25/500MB plan on top of my current voice plan. I'll see if 500MB can last me a month, if not, then I'll do the $30/6GB and try retentions again.

I'll stick to Best Buy tomorrow (Markville->Richmond Hill->Aurora). Both Rogers stores I called told me they're getting very few iPhones, so I won't even both with them.

I called as well to inquire about this. The rep said you can order online, through the phone, and in store starting tomorrow. He said if you order online/phone, then it would most likely get delivered in 3-5 days.

My plan is to call tomorrow morning to do this. I dont mind waiting, just so long as I have peace of mind im getting one..lol

I was expecting things to be ridiculous after hearing the stories about the American launch, but I just walked in on Monday and I wrote my name on a list. They called today and said they’d hold a phone for me.

I wonder what time you can actually make a purchase by phone... I'm thinking 7:30 AM. Anyone have a clue? I need to bargain a deal with retention so I won't be going in-store to get the phone.
