No, that doesn't make a difference.

Earlier in the thread, someone quoted Rogers' website which stated that it is broken.

EDIT: It works now. I just entered in my mother's number (she's hoping to get one tomorrow), and it shows her eligible for the discounted price.

That news is from the USA, not Canada. Good luck waiting for that to pan out. Took us over 10yrs before outside investment for new carriers to purchase/share/rent bandwidth to open business - in the collusion that this would make pricing competitive. SMS rates went up, freaking TEXT it doesn't get more expensive with billions of ppl doing so millions of times per month/internationally between ALL providers. price went up with ALL carriers; not down which is competitiveness.
 
UPDATE FROM FAIRVIEW MALL, TORONTO

Fellow Torontonians! It's 12:35am right now. I'm about 55th in line at Fairview Mall. We are all lined up outside of Mall entrance 3 (near the movie theatre).

There are approx. 100 people in line now!

Spirits are high right now. People are chatty and happy in anticipation of the new iPhone!

If you were planning on coming to Fairview for a phone, I suggest you come now... the line is growing ever so slowly. I bet tons of people will be turned away in the wee hours of the morning.

I'm getting a little tired, I might make a Timmies run. Timmies... the official coffee of Apple product launches!

If you guys have any questions, let me know. I'll stay online for a bit... trying not to drain my iPhone through tethering.

Sorry the law is from Quebec, not Canada.
Just like now if I sign a new contract, I can cancel the contract and only have the part of my phone that's left to pay. (say they give me 480$ and it's a 2 year contract, that's 40$ a month, so if I cancel after 1 year I only pay 240$)
 
so anyone know how the whole micro sim thing is gonna work?
Can i just buy the micro sim with the unlocked iphone and then call rogers and they switch it over?

Also, anyone at the calgary marketmall location?

The microsim is gonna be free over at the apple store from what I understand

I'm heading there around 5:30 - 6. They will give you one microsim free, so yes you can activate later.

Oh man, I really wanted to head there. This is not good news. I don't have the energy to line up starting NOW. Maybe no iPhone for me.

iPhone's browser is quite capable of browsing these forums; why do you need to tether just to update us? Turn off the wlan, use 3G only.

Sweet to be a Quebecois right now is it not?! Bon Chance at your upgrade and enjoy. Those of us on the other side of the provincial border, Ontario, will have to wait just a bit longer.

woah..insane and that's the closest one to me too :( there it goes my chance of getting it at launch
 
It is 10:11PM PDT and Telus still hasn't posted information regarding their launch on their website.

I've told my dad to go get the iPhone 4 32GB with Voice+Data 50 tomorrow. If and when he signs the contract, I can still talk to retentions after to see if they can match Bell and Rogers' offer of 6GB for $30? If not, I can return the phone and cancel my contract?

Anybody know? I tried looking for their return policy, but can't seem to find it.

It's been launched in Australia already (it's about 3:00pm there right now) and still no sign of the iPhone on the apple.au site. I'd like to be proven wrong, but I don't think that it'd be available on the apple.ca tomorrow...

 
The interesting thing about fairview is that there are so many options, don't know where everyone is actually planning on going.
Rogers store, bell store, telus store, fido store, tbooth, wireless wave, best buy mobile, and Apple.
Hopefully most people are going to try and hup at one of those places and apple has tons of unlocked at rule price lol.

Ok I should nap, going to leave at 3:30.

It's pretty restrictive. Something about 15 min of talk time or something
