Looks like LG shipped pre-order units early
In Canada on the October 10 pre-order launch date, it said it’s supposed to ship early November.

No early shipment for me, at least not yet. My Oct 10 order is still just in the order placed phase, despite the fact they already charged my credit card for the entire CA$2705 / US$1927 (CA$2380 + $14 EHC + $311 tax).

The LG is no longer just announced. Some people have them already.

The service manual states it is actually 8-bit FRC.

I'm curious about this new Alogic Clarity 6k Touch 32'':

It shall start shipping soon, available from EU and US I guess. It's a glossy panel similar to Kuycon G32P, but also multitouch. Not that I would absolutely need that feature, but it could be a nice discussion starter :).
Also, the eventual warranty topics could be easier than in the case of Kuycon.

Maybe the only thing that is a small let-down is the max brightness of up to 400 nits.

G32X First impressions

Arrived quickly — about two weeks from Alibaba to Europe.

Build quality and finish are excellent, similar to the P model but without the rear detailing.

There’s a chin, though I stopped noticing it after the first day.

Coming from an Ultrafine 5K, the matte screen took a little getting used to, but after a few days again is mostly disappears from notice. It seems the same as the ASUS display based on what I’ve seen in videos.

Overall, I can recommend it if you want something comparable to the ASUS, but with a much nicer design.

I’m not sure what to make of that — I think it is similar to the situation with AH-IPS panels — the panels are capable of both true 10-bit and 8-bit + FRC, and it’s up to the silicon and drivers to determine how the panel is used.

I will reach out to TFT Central to implore them to write about this, to clarify how it works.

I went to check out the Studio Display in store today. I do t think it has the height I want. So I really need a 32" screen. Also I wasn't sure about the text in it, this is important as for work I am looking at text all day. To me it was better than the MacBook Pro though.

I currently have a matte monitor, but was thinking if a glossy one.

Anyway I guess at the moment it is worth waiting to see what comes out?

Would this Pro Art OLED really be a waste of time as it would get burn in with steric windows? http://www.asus.com/displays-desktops/monitors/proart/proart-display-oled-pa32ucdm/

That is 4K 32”. Unless you sit further away than most, I would recommend 6K 32”, which would mean IPS Black.

I have an XDR and a PG32UCDM which is the worse version of that one you share, honestly burn in has not been an issue and I'm well over 1600 hrs of use, it is my secondary display (youtube, meetings and the likes) so it spends a lot of time with video fullscreen so that might help

It's good, so good that if my XDR died tomorrow i wouldn't get another one , just the one you linked, specially with Better Display and the downscaled 6K resolution into it

I would be using static windows all day so would be worried about the burn in. I think for me it is between a 4K OLED or a LCD Black 6K

What does the text look like on the LG 6K screen? Is it clear and sharp? I guess it is a matte screen too?
I don't have the LG 6K yet as my pre-order ship date isn't until November, but I have used and owned multiple screens with comparable pixel density.

I really don't like the text on 4K 32" screens. One I had in my house was the Asus ProArt PA329CV. That is a matte 138 ppi IPS screen which is Retina at about 25". I sit at about 22", and recommended ergonomic guidelines are usually about 20" or more. If you sit far away, it may be fine, but if you sit closer than 25" you may notice the degraded text. The closer you sit, the worse it will look. The Asus ROG PG32UCDM is 31.5" or 140 ppi, Retina at roughly the same 25".

The LG 6K is 31.5" 224 ppi, Retina at 15.4", matte.

I currently have a 5K 27" iMac 218 ppi, Retina at 15.8", and a 4K+ 28.2" Huawei MateView 164 ppi, Retina at 21". I also have an M4 MacBook Air at 224 ppi (same ppi as the LG 6K).

Text on the 218 ppi glossy 5K iMac is stellar, and text on the 164 ppi matte Huawei is very good, from this ~22" seating distance. Text on the 224 ppi glossy MacBook Air is also stellar of course. Although the Huawei is supposed to be Retina at 21", I can still notice a bit of softness to the edges of text at my 22" seating distance, even if I can't make out the individual pixels. This is due to the lower pixel density (since I'm pretty much right at the edge of it being not Retina vs Retina) and likely exacerbated by the matte coating. Like I said though, it's still very good, just not at the same level as the much higher pixel density Apple Retina displays.

I expect the text on the matte 224 ppi LG 6K to be excellent and a nice upgrade over the 164 ppi matte Huawei, but likely a bit of a step below the glossy 218 ppi 5K iMac.

Compared to all of these, text on the matte 140 ppi 4K ProArt 31.5" just sucked in comparison IMO, but YMMV. It looked better when I sat further back, but that doesn't work well for me.

Summary:

Text quality at my seating distance:

220 ppi (5K 27" and 6K 32") > 164 ppi (4K 27") >> 140 ppi (4K 32")

4K 32" is about 138-140 ppi.

I hadn't seen these reviews before, I apologize if this is a repost but here are videos covering the Asus and the LG.
Asus PA32QCV review:

Very similar video but emphasis on comparing Asus with Pro Display XDR:

LG 32U990A-S review:

LG 32U990A-S review:

I distrust a reviewer who complains a free plastic stand is not as easy to adjust as a $1000 metal stand is that has been totally over engineered....
Think it is best to wait for other reviews as the rare few have said the speakers are alright in the monitor, this guy states they are rubbish, but maybe he is used to KEF seekers or something?
I do not understand why people compare the LG or Asus to the Apple Pro Display XDR when Apple themselves compared it to the very high end Sony colouring reference monitor costing 30,000.

And I'd really like to hear from a reviewer who cares about colour gamut and accuracy! Most of these guys have no idea and don't seem to care.
