I considered this one, it looks like it may be really nice. However, it appears the case will only go to production after its reached some sort of threshold. I think the chances of this being available at launch are slim.

I'm looking at this one as a possible alternative: http://www.macally.com/EN/Product/ArticleShow.asp?ArticleID=320. Hopefully they'll offer more colors.

I like the looks of this one - BUT, how are they dealing with the curved back? That seems like a huge deal that i see ignored on cases right now.....
 
I ordered the Apple iPad Case, but it's not going to be here until the end of April 4/20.

Anyone else thinking of picking up a 10in netbook sleeve until theres arrives? I'm sure it would work for a short while?

I really worried about that too, jedolley, but it looks like they met the threshold already due to distribution deals. :) I don't think they'll ship at the launch date, but shouldn't be lots later.

The BookStand you linked to looked nice too. I'm learning toward the olive green colored one of these:

Good question for this and all the new cases. The one I linked says it's made of non-slip rubber, so hopefully it's sort of molded to the back shape - like an iPhone case?

I wrote this one off for the same reason (the Quirky case) even though I really liked the look of it.

However, after the post above me, I checked it out, and it does seem to have gone into 'production':

THE CLOAK HAS HIT PRE-SALE AND HAS BEEN MOVED INTO PRODUCTION AS OF 3/15. WE HAVE FAST TRACKED THIS PROJECT GIVEN THE UPCOMING iPAD LAUNCH AND HOPE TO DELIVER THIS PRODUCT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. That said, that's still a long way off for anything remotely resembling instant gratification.

I also seem to recall that the price used to be under $40.

Great idea! Actually I just happened to have an extra neoprene netbook sleeve that I'm not using. That would be perfect . . . saw your post just after I got finished crocheting a custom case for it. Oh, well . . . I'll have 2 now :D

I suppose the user would be looking down instead of forward like a laptop. In addition to the Apple Case I might be tempted to use my Logitech laptop stand that would give it more on angle. That might be too much of an angle to type on. I guess we will see how many ingenious stands will be developed.

Apple is boasting something like a 178 degree viewing angle. So yes, it should be far superior to laptop screens.

You're right, Gwynne, it was $36 in "presale" before they went into production. I still really like this one because of the colors and it stands up in both portrait and landscape.


I wish I could crochet my own case like AJ while I'm waiting on the Quirky one. :D

I'll try to remember to post a picture when it's really finished. It was done but I went back to make some changes. I'm just adding an outside pocket now ;) So far I think it's looking pretty good :)

Wow, thats great news! It wasn't even at the halfway point when I saw it this morning. Might end up getting one of these after all.
 
Great thread, a lot of good products however, information overload. At this rate there will be more accessories than the iPod and iPhone combined:).
 
FYI if you order a case now from Apple they are shipping them after the 20th. I found this out after canceling my April 3rd order to upgrade to a 64 gig version.
