Same, but the 5/1 estimate is holding me back...

I wonder how soon sites like dealextreme will have uber-cheap sleeves. Could get one for temporary usage. (I looked; nothing yet. Unfortunately since they ship from HK and it takes a few weeks, that could erase any advantage over just waiting on the quirky in the first place.)

Curses.

This is the one I bought (the grey one) but I think I still need a sleeve. There is also a black or brown. From Kenneth Cole New York

I hate mentioning them since I had a bad experience, but Handheld Items appears to have silicon cases and they appear instock. http://www.handhelditems.com/ipad-accessories-ipad-cases-c-7631_7659.html

I probably won't order from them due to a previous experience, but I felt I should atleast post this so my fellow soon-to-be iPad owners could see their options.

Have you guys take a look at the following case?

http://www.hardcandycases.com/ipad-hardsleeve.html

It looks interesting. I emailed them last week to get more infon on specs like actual dimensions and weight. I also asked them if they had a more firm shipping date other than March but nothing yet.

The case looks sturdy and pretty cool if I do say so myself :) What do you all think?

I saw that one as well. I think its nice, and will provide some good protecton. However, I don't think it's for me. I'm looking for a folio style case that doesn't add too much girth and can be used as a stand.

Has anyone come across any super cheap sleeves (ie $10-$15)? I plan to get a BSE for the back but would like get a really cheap sleeve to put it in while not in use. I prefer something that you just slide it in and out of - no fuss.

I'm not looking for this to be a travel bag or anything.

I just picked one of these up. $8.99 before shipping. The dimensions seem to match the iPad pretty well.

Can you even buy this thing? It looks like 3D mockups.

According to the company website, under news, they are planning on making the product, just waiting to get their hands on an actual iPad to make sure it fits properly. The pic of the buttons not fully displayed on the Apple case is definitely not what I am looking for!

I admit the photos probably photoshopped, but they do look nice. If the company keeps it up, it is worth looking at for me. Rumors are they are working on a deal to have the product in stores. I heard maybe even Apple stores???

I've been following this thread to the point that I now fear I'm suffering information overload. (Thanks to everyone for taking the time to push me over the edge!)

Can anyone suggest a product or two that would do this:

• Carry the iPad, of course.
• Have room for a keyboard...
• and two or three trade-paperback-sized books (not big textbooks).
• With the proper dimensions to fit letter-sized (8-1/2"x11") paper without crumpling it.
• But still be relatively compact and easy to schlep around.

I teach a couple of English classes and I need to carry the books we're currently reading plus a small stack of letter-sized documents like student papers and class handouts.

Right now I'm using a simple nylon briefcase-type thing with a few slots and pouches which I bought because it was ultra-cheap. But since the iPad is so awesomely hip, I figure this is a good time to upgrade my carrying gear to something cooler.

Thanks again.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered but is it possible to get this thread stickied? A lot of great info in here, thanks again!

Someone already posted some stuff on Kenneth Cole (post #102 by reybart), but if you have an outlet near you, they have some nice brown and black bags that sound exactly like what you're looking for. The outlet prices are pretty decent (at least the one near me is), about half the price of the online store.

What do you guys not like about the Apple iPad case?

I just looked at the $40 product and it seems to be pretty perfect. It's not hyper-stylish (aged leather etc.) but seems pretty versatile to me.

I'd like to know if it's easy to take in and out often, as I'd probably want my iPad 'naked' most of the time and use the cover for desk typing, movie watching, and of course for travel.

I haven't seen anything that should meet my needs any better.

I think it looks fairly cheap in these hands-on shots that iLounge took at the iPad Event:

Especially the plastic edges. I'll check it out at the Apple store on launch day (if they have any left) and then decide. I like the design as far as the built in stands go, and the Apple logo on the front, and the folio design in general is nice. Though how does it clasp closed? I don't think it does? The slot on the back is for locking it into movie watching mode. It seems like it could have been so much better.

Will the apple store have any cases on launch day?
I was hoping to just pick up my case at the store.

I really want something made specifically for the ipad, but if no cases will be out when it is released I will have to buy something generic.
