My custom iPad case

You're right, Gwynne, it was $36 in "presale" before they went into production. I still really like this one because of the colors and it stands up in both portrait and landscape.


I wish I could crochet my own case like AJ while I'm waiting on the Quirky one.

Here it is! There is a pocket in the front. The flap comes down to secure the iPad case as well sealing the outside pocket as seen in the bottom picture with my iphone in it.The loops on the iPad case flap attach to the kitty buttons on the pocket. I used ribbon, instead of yarn, for more durability and strength.

Will the apple store have any cases on launch day?
I was hoping to just pick up my case at the store.

I really want something made specifically for the ipad, but if no cases will be out when it is released I will have to buy something generic.

You could pick up an inexpensive netbook case/sleeve or make your own. I posted pics of the one I made for myself in this thread.

i bought this silicone skin for now.. it was advertised $17.99 but when you look around you will see a coupon code "ipadcoverskin" and it will deduct the item for -$10.00

they are saying this is high quality silicone that never eats dust. for $10.84 including shipping i think its worth it. we'll see..

I've already sprung for the SF Bags/Waterfield Muzetto and iPad sleeve.......but this Orbino certainly is tempting as well!!! Definitely it looks more elegant than the Apple case!

You'll love the Muzetto. Mine (the Muzetto Personal in black) is ultra cool, and Waterfield confirmed the iPad will fit. I too ordered the iPad sleeve, but that won't ship until they actually get their hands on an iPad to confirm sizing.

Already (happily) purchased my "weapon of choice" for iPad transport to suit my lifestyle, but must say that this is the nicest of the non-bag type designs I've seen so far. Only seems to be missing the ability to provide any functionality as a a stand of sorts which is a little disappointing.

I bought that sleeve, a silicone case and a screen protector for about 20 bucks from dealextreme. I see no need spending so much money on a case solution just yet.

I'm doubtful. I went ahead and ordered mine last night and it says that it's shipping April 15th, delivery estimate April 20th.

Thanks, MikhailT, for posting the Booq link! I really like the looks of their Shadow bag--not to mention the price. Maybe I'm cheap (yeah, buying an iPad.... ), but I can't bring myself to pay $150 and up for a glorified messenger bag. No, I'm not taking a shot at those who choose to, it's just not my thing.
