Strangely, in my experience nVIDIA cards are also less supported under Linux.
This is because AMD Drivers are open source, and nVidia ones aren't. You pretty much always have an advantage using AMD video hardware, and if you're running a unix-y os, that's the kind of hardware you want. You can blame nVidia for this, they're the ones who make it harder. Why no one likes nvidia ? Did they do something wrong ? ATI/AMD seems far more supported. I do notice that.

Ah, that explains ittoo bad, nvidia could have been something. Again, I am new to Linux hardware that works under it - is it true that even an ATI Radeon 5770 can work under Linux on a quad G5 or any kind of PC based video card ?
Linux offers more, but MorphOS doesn't run like dog crap like bunches of Linux distros do on PPC.Sounds like Linux offers more, but will take a look..
sorry to interject "off topic", but I'm seeking your help with a prior post of yours:It's a real achievement that he managed to keep this going almost a full decade after Apple's attempt at obsoleting those old systems. This was inevitable though. Browsers continue to grow in complexity and modern web is just too heavy for them. Things like WebGL and modern video codecs will never work on them. Even with optimizations trying to browse the web in TFF on my iBook G4 was a miserable experience.
But it was amazing that I could, and sometimes you gotta do things just to say you can.
I held out on Mojave until updating to Big Sur earlier this year and giving up on Photoshop CS6, sadly I can't remember exactly how I got it to work.sorry to interject "off topic", but I'm seeking your help with a prior post of yours:
"Very strange, Photoshop CS6 will run in Mojave with 32-bit execution disabled at the kernel level, but not in Catalina"
Are you willing/able to relate the process to disabled 32-bit execution and enable PS CS6 to run in Mojave., please?
Thank you!
Sad, very sad. I'll do my part and try to make sure that any websites I develop will continue to work in TenFourFox on my iBook G4 for the time being. But the rest of the internet will march on regardless.I don't mean to dig this thread back up, but rather than make a new one, I figured it was probably the most relevant choice for this out of all the rest ...
A couple easter eggs I recently discovered in FPR 32.5; what with most of us having moved to InterWeb-PPC by now, did anyone else come across these before?

I suggest reading https://morph.zone/modules/newbb_pl...ic_id=12716&viewmode=flat&sortorder=0&start=0
and posting there to make best choice with already tested cards. Some PC cards work too (cheaper and easier to obtain)
I have two cards that seem to work fine on my PowerMac11,2 G5/2.3GHz:
1) Sapphire X1950Pro (PC BIOS). Photos: card, info
2) Sapphire X1950XT (PC BIOS). Photos: card, info
On Mac BIOS flashed cards, any card with these chips should work:
- ATI Radeon 8500 LE (R200)
- ATI Radeon 8500 (R200)
- ATI Radeon 9000 (RV250)
- ATI Radeon 9000 Pro (RV250)
- ATI Radeon 9100 (R200)
- ATI Radeon 9100 LE (R200)
- ATI Radeon 9200 SE (RV280)
- ATI Radeon 9200 (RV280)
- ATI Radeon 9200 Pro (RV280)
- ATI Radeon 9250 (RV280)
- ATI Radeon 9550 Mobility (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon 9600 Pro (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon 9650 (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon 9600 XT (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon 9700 Pro (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon 9800 (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon 9800 XT (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon X600 XT (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon X800 XT / Pro (R420) (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon X1300 (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon X1300 Pro (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon X1550 (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon X1600 (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon X1600 Pro (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon X1800 (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon X1900 GT (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon X1950 XT (no W3D)
- ATI Radeon X1950 Pro (no W3D)
- ATI FireGL X3 (R420) (no W3D)
Also note that MorphOS will see only 1.5GB of RAM even if machine has more. Future editions should enable more, but even if it "sounds little" its much in Amiga world - MorphOS comes from, apps are lighter and much less CPU and memory hungry. Off course, same level of productivity applications does not exist in all areas like in MacOS X, so its best to keep dual boot to use best of both worlds. Read Dual boot manual not to overwrite MacOS X install during MorphOS installation.

No it doesn't. I have flashed a pc version x1950xt with a mac bios. Without it you get no picture on your powermac.@rasvoja - does the X1950 Pro work in OSX without flashing also?

Yes, I know.. But its install program is not very easy at all. I may take another look at it again. There is also FreeBSD.
And OpenBSD, which is possibly the most straightforward to install and set up on PPC (precompiled binary packages 'n' stuff - none of that for FreeBSD).There is also FreeBSD.
