As far as I can remember, the 45 minutes ended for 2 reasons:

1. I figured I was pushing my luck and should slow down a little.

2. I needed to fill up.

The latter was the more pressing issue. It sure was fun. Dumb, but fun. It was the middle of the day but while I was passing the occasional car, not to many people on the road. Funny thing was that when I left Toronto there was gridlock for 10-15 minutes. And even after that it took me a while to where I was really out of the metropolitan area and could take it up. I think it was making up time for the gridlock that got me going fast, and then I just kept going faster and faster till I topped it out. From there I just kept my foot down and steered. I tell you it does take some focus and wears you out a little.
Yeah, understandable. If I'm doing over 100, I often worry I'm gunna barrel by a cop doing 60 in the slow lane and not even see him. Thankfully, I'm very good at cop car ID'ing based on tail lights and stuff.

The longest I've had sustained high speed was around 105 coming home from Cape Cod for about 25 minutes... I lucked out, as the traffic got heavier and I slowed it down to about 80, passing a radar gunning cop. But here in Mass, they give you to about 78-80.

Yeah, I've been lucky too. Got pulled over doing 82 or so in Ohio but was doing 110 just 3 minutes earlier.

Been unlucky too. Got pulled over doing 84 or so in Georgia a week later (we had driven from Michigan to Florida for Spring Break) and less than 5 minutes after I got the ticket it started raining so hard you couldn't see well enough to break 50, not to mention it was night.

A tad over 125mph on my K100RS down Six Mile Bottom on the A11. It was a Sunday morning and I disturbed plod reading his Sunday paper.

Amazingly enough, the two times I've been pulled over, the reasons were not speeding:

One was for an out of date inspection sticker, the other, going down a one way street...the wrong way.

I just did my first behind the wheel with my Drivers ED instructor and haven't been able to drive since, so I've driven 50MPH as my fastest.

154 m.p.h or so on a Suzuki GS 1100 that was a completely tricked out race bike, I remember being tucked behind the little racing fairing thinking if I sat up I would probably be ripped off the bike by the wind. Gone over a 100 a bunch of times but never went anywhere near 150 again.

Fastest I have been is around 100 in a Dodge Ramcharger. The Speedometer in the Dodge only goes to 83, but I had my friend in front of me in a Toyota Tercel. :) It would have been faster, but I only had 1/2 of a mile of straight road. (Before a 90 degree turn)
I own a Ramrod I have a hot 318 man that thing hauls.
I had to get a dash mount speedo.

I honestly don't really know.

My dad was driving 90mph driving my dog to the vet ER in my mom's Touareg until my mom started screaming at him. I've gone 50mph in unplowed snow in a 35 zone with my dad in his Land Rover Discovery.

That fastest I have driven is probably 75ish. I don't have my license yet though.

In CT it is a rule police cars in speed traps have to have their parking lights on. I was driving along the outskirts of town in a place I have never really driven cause its on the way to nowhere. I didn't really know the speed limit because there were no signs anywhere. So I was going like 60 and all of a sudden I see a cop car pulled over with its lights off like 10ft ahead of me so I just stomped on the brake to try to get down to 45 because I assumed that was a safe speed. It scared the crap out of my mom. Luckily he didn't pull me over though.

Only managing 135 in a 350Z?!?! What is wrong with you??

Yeah, the first time was out in the country and it was not the smoothest of roads so I backed out of it.

The second was on a tollway express lane at midnight, but I had to get on the brakes for a construction site that I was approaching.

The car had more in her, but I think it was fast enough.

somewhere between 150 and 160 mph (i think it was about ~156) in a 2006 BMW 645Ci convertible put in sport mode and in tiptronic 6-speed.

best part about my story is that while doing this (on a country road by my house) the top was down the entire time

BTW - the car is my biological mother's, not mine :D

"Where you either go fast or are blow to peices on the road"

My dad hit 160 just to keep up to pace with the rest of the cars, then my mom went insane saying 'WERE GONNA DIE' so we went the slower hi ways...

Exact same story here.

Although my dad accelerated to 180 (kph) and kept telling my mom we were doing 160. :D Mom gets motion sick and had a fit.

It was back in the 1970's. Was on I-75 where I had a clear view behind and ahead. 100 was as fast as I could tolerate. Probably not much more than a minute or two, scared.

I must have gotten to 130mph at least in my old 300M on a trip in FL. It was on the long stretch called Alligator Alley. The od only went to 120, but it took a good 20 seconds after letting off the accelorator before the needle started to drop below 120. I've gone at least 110 in my Pacifica. I haven't pushed it yet, too afraid of getting stopped. The speed od goes to 160mph on it.

Did you try that speed or what is your highest? What governor are you referring?

yes i went that speed (i have a scangauge2 in my truck, and it gives you a more accurate reading of how fast you are going).

the truck has a governor in it to stop you from going any faster.

my actual fastest is 125 mph in my mom's old infiniti G20 (but i posted this a while back in this thread somewhere)
