Yeah, understandable. If I'm doing over 100, I often worry I'm gunna barrel by a cop doing 60 in the slow lane and not even see him. Thankfully, I'm very good at cop car ID'ing based on tail lights and stuff. As far as I can remember, the 45 minutes ended for 2 reasons:
1. I figured I was pushing my luck and should slow down a little.
2. I needed to fill up.
The latter was the more pressing issue. It sure was fun. Dumb, but fun. It was the middle of the day but while I was passing the occasional car, not to many people on the road. Funny thing was that when I left Toronto there was gridlock for 10-15 minutes. And even after that it took me a while to where I was really out of the metropolitan area and could take it up. I think it was making up time for the gridlock that got me going fast, and then I just kept going faster and faster till I topped it out. From there I just kept my foot down and steered. I tell you it does take some focus and wears you out a little.
The longest I've had sustained high speed was around 105 coming home from Cape Cod for about 25 minutes... I lucked out, as the traffic got heavier and I slowed it down to about 80, passing a radar gunning cop. But here in Mass, they give you to about 78-80.
