56 MPH in my Plymouth. Only once. I wanted to feel the wind in my hair and tell the world "Darn it all, what the heck!" Oh, I love living on the edge.

seriously, I had my Plymouth up to 100 once. Only once.

The fastest I've driven is 140 in an E39 Dinan M5. The fastest I've ever been in a car is 150 in an Enzo.

These are some pretty fast times listed in this thread.
Anyone else wondering about the accuracy of the speedometers?

Or the memory of the participants?

Oh, nearly forgot.

Had my 1966 Covair Corsa HT, 140hp, up to 100 mph, once.

Scared the **** out of me. Never again.

It was hoppin' around something fierce.

It was afterwards, at an lube/oil/filter, that someone noticed they they had failed to mount the front shocks at the factory.

One has to have a little fun in this life!

My dad talks about making the drive from Atlanta to Jacksonville and setting the cruise control at 110 mph. I don't remember the experience personally, because I was 3, which was in 1969. He said you could drive for miles without seeing another car.

I also remember riding around as a kid, standing up in the seat!

It's amazing what we live through, but it was fun.:p

fastest for me was 135mph but only for about a minute, way to scary.

Now I'm old and sensible and potter along at 70-75mph when on the motorway.

most was about 165mph (270kmh) in Germany at the Autobahn with my Uncles S500 AMG

was awesome but felt scary at the same time if you used to the big us lanes (the german autobahn lanes are pretty small, a Escalade or F350 wouldn't really fit on one lane)

The quickest I ever went in a vehicle I was controlling was ~450 mph.

It was "driving" one of THESE at the time...;)

I check the speedo of every new car I get with GPS. My current car over-reads by about 3mph at an indicated 100mph. Not bad really.

GPS checked my top gear (5th) is good for 20mph per 1000 rpm exactly.

hmmm....

i think the fastest i've ever driven was 120MPH in my friends Accord.

Other than that...i've broken 100MPH numerous times in other cars, including my 1966 Ford Mustang i had as my first car. I eventually wrecked that car, but i was only 15...didn't deserve that beauty anyway. I'd kill to have it back.

I got up to 105MPH in my 1991 Ford Ranger...that damn thing was litterally falling apart when i did it too....but it made it. Was never the same after that.

My S10 i had limited me to 98MPH

and my Colorado...well, i've never pushed it that hard. Guess i'm getting old how. Hell...i'm almost 25...can't be driving fast and acting stupid anymore.

I've got a little Mazda 3, they're surprisingly quick, especially for a compact. I've been up close to 130 mph in that one (according to the speedometer), I used to work the graveyard shift and there was a long straight little used stretch of freeway on my way to work. The car held up to it just fine and felt like it may go a bit faster even, but it was getting a little squirly and I called it there.

My wife had a 2003 Toyota Corolla when we got married. In that car on our way back from Vegas one time I looked in my rearview and saw a highway patrolman tailgating me, I checked my speedometer and it was at 110 mph, then he passed me and went along at probably 120. No lights, no sirens, but he was an Arizona trooper and he probably wanted to get to Az so he could have a shot at busting me when I pulled through.

Well, if nothing else I don't think anyone is doubting the stupidity of the participants. ;)

Heh - that's for sure! Driving out at the track was a blast, but everyone knew full well that we were betting our lives on the tires not blowing while at speed. :)

181 mph (291 kph) in my Porsche Turbo... back in my "insane days"! Fastest on a bike was just over 140 mph (225 kph) on my Harley-Davidson V-Rod. These days, I'm perfectly content around 40-70 mph on my Harley, letting the world whiz past while I savour the trip!

I have gotten the new Hyundai just over 100 (105-108) on I-35 on my way back from Austin at like 4 in the morning. I drove an Astro van for my first three years of driving and so I really never went over 90 (except for a few occasions when I was late to work and I did see 100 was hit and if it went any faster I would never have known.

When my step-dad first got our BMW 330ci we hit 124 but it we hit it in about 1/2 mile. They give out some bad tickets around where I live in louisiana. I have hit 75 myself before but I turn 14 today.
