Not the "fastest," (that's a secret) but had the cruise control set at this speed today (from Toledo, OH to Charleston, SC). Muahahaha...I love my car.

95 MPH? that is what everyone drives at out here in Cali. When there isn't mad traffic that is usually betweent he hours 4AM to 430AM. Hell i have been doing 90 on the 73 toll road and have had the CHP pass me!

227 kmh on an extremely flat stretch of I-15 in Montana riding a Yamaha 750 and 215 kmh on the A 19 between Rostock and Berlin in an Audi A4.

Haha, nice....

so who took the pic? And what time of day were you doing this?

It would have been quite humorous to here what you would have said to the cop who pulled you over....

Ah, there's this website.....:D

And I hope this doesn't become a contest....anyone gets hurt doing something stupid the only prize you'll get is possible entry into the Darwin Awards.

And there is only one thing worse than winning a Darwin Award, and that is getting a Runner Up.

"Performing a spectacular display of stupidiy while failing to remove oneself from the gene pool."

Usually this means the Darwin Runner Up has survived his stupid moment and must now live with the insults and injuries.

Like the fellow in West Virginia who bit down on a blasting cap and blew his lips off, and teeth out.(oooooo, I'm tempted to say something about 'fitting right in' but I won't - DOH!)

Can you mount a video camera to the tank and take a vid of you accelerating to that speed and post it somewhere? I'd love to see it.

A shade under 95 in a Toyota Corolla. But I could go faster with the opportunity. Say... I-80 between 2:00 and 5:00 AM between just after Park City, UT, and Wendover, NV... THAT has got to be the straightest road in existence.

You'll need it to get a Corolla much past 100 :p

Corollas are not slouches and in the mid to late 80's there were models of that were sport cars. In fact the Corolla was raced by Toyota in a number of races and actually one a number of rally titles. They've turned into more of a Sedan now but my wifes '97 has absolutely no problem getting to a hundred and probably will top out around 125 or so.

My friend had a 95 Corolla CE with an auto and it was a real pain in the ass to get up to highway speeds. I know the new ones have VVT-i engines and some Corollas were pretty decent (but the sporty ones were more the exception). I don't know, we used to have a Toyota Sienna minivan and that even out accelerated my friend's Corolla.

110 in a Saturn SL1. Was shaking to all hell at that speed, I though the damn thing was going to fall apart. It could have gone faster, but I was going into a decent sized turn and didn't want to push it. It was also at noon, and a cop could have easily been around the corner. Not good.

Theres no way I would ever take a pic of my speedo when driving 120mph+. My car (1972 Datsun 240Z) is a handful with no power steering and a whole lotta lift commin from the front end due to lack of my aero kit. God i cant wait till next year when i can afford my aero kit!

Shaking at speed is almost always due to a need for alignment and wheel balance. I've never had a car that did anything but get smoother the faster you went when they were properly aligned and had good tires on them that were balanced well.

My dad's Malibu would always shake above 90 and when braking from speeds over 60. Taking it to Tire Kingdom for a full align/balance did help a lot, but it still did shake still when you hit it's max speed of 106.

Yeah, I think it is. It looks just like my mom's 328i. I doubt that she has gotten it up that fast though. :p

Detroit AutoBahn

115 on the "Detroit AutoBahn." i've heard of people going close to 200 MPH (probably not that fast) on I-696- with cops in full tow. that was several years ago... i've heard the state troopers are pretty strict these days.

oh... that was in a '77 Ford Grenada - the speedometer went up to 120 but it always max'd out at 115. great car... two doors, 37 feet long... back seat the size of texas... ;-)

i would be scared s***less driving that fast in mexico. first i wouldnt trust the roads, then i would be scared an iguana or alligator walking on the road.

The funny thing is, we've had to be careful of alligators on the road here...especially during gator mating season around the spring/summer months. They are also known to crawl out of the canals and into backyards, so you have to be careful with your children and small pets.

It lasted for like a minute but it felt so cool. It was in a lilttle rance with paved roads and i had my cousin in the passenger seat. by the way it was a honda ( dont remember which model, kind of old)
