My dad's Malibu would always shake above 90 and when braking from speeds over 60. Taking it to Tire Kingdom for a full align/balance did help a lot, but it still did shake still when you hit it's max speed of 106.

If it shakes when you hit the brakes then you have warped rotors and either need them turned or replaced. Sometimes bad calipers can create the same sensation. If a piston is sticking on a brake caliper then it over heats the rotor causing it to warp a little. The rotor isn't always damaged by this but to be on the safe side the calipers and rotors should both be looked at in this situation.

My 224 km/h was in Italy (Southern). I wouldn't try to break that (roughly 150 mph) in US, I'm sure I'd attract too many cops. :p

what's the matter with you people!?

i've never gone over 75, and i've had my liscense for about three years now. there is just no reason to go over 90 on a public road. i never go more than 10 over the speed limit in any area. they have tracks for that. you people are going to kill someone and i am going to laugh.

(also, i don't make left turns across multi-lane traffic without a "left turn" arrow. i am afraid of hitting deer (since i already did), so i dont travel through rural areas at night. and i never risk trying to change or merge lanes if i can help it. trust me. it's better that way. just call me grandma. everybody does.)

but seriously, people, just take it easy. you can't outrun your crappy childhoods, your crappy presents, or your crappy futures, so don't risk hurting someone, or, more importantly, an historic landmark, on the way to see your therapist.

dude, don't make assumptions like that about us just because we get a thrill from driving fast. driving is as safe as you are talented enough to make it, and if you suck at driving at 90 MPH, chances are you suck at 75 too, and you're just as likely to get in a wreck. don't get me started on piddlers, man. i've been caught in traffic on Lindsey St here in Norman, OK for 10 minutes on a 200 yard stretch because people don't have the balls to hit their gas pedals when the light turns green. i will seriously miss a light being 5 cars behind the intersection. it's pitiful. if you're afraid to drive, maybe you should have your mom take you places, or get a cab/chauffer.

seriously, that's about what you sound like, reversed. i don't have issues with my childhood or anything, just because i like to have a little fun in my car. don't get huffy, you can kill people at 70 just as fast as at 90+. in fact, try slowing down to 30 on the highway and see how many you kill by being cautious...

I agree that you have to have a skill in order to do so and have control of your car. I've seen people drive like maniacs at 30 mph. A lot of the high speed driving I've done has been on *closed* pavement. Such as the airstrip that I did the 175 mph run in the Porsche 911 and the 211 mph in the Diablo. I would never do 200 on a public street. I do 90-100 a few times on I-95, but then again, who doesn't. Hell, rush hour traffic in Miami is usually a constant 80 mph nearly bumper to bumper. Anyway, quite a few people have stated they've achieved these speeds on closed roads and such.

sorry guys

sorry...i should really put more effort into denoting sarcasm. i didn't mean to sound stuck up. i didn't really mean that you folks really have "troubled childhoods" or anything like that...

well, i had this big speech on roadway safety prepared, but my damn aol cut out on me and i lost it, so forget it.

my main point was, things happen unexpectedly and if you're going faster than everyone and wreck when traffic comes to a dead stop or something, it's your own fault.

sorry. didn't mean to get preachy...

anyway, now that everyone thinks i'm condescending and domineering, please read my signature and laugh...

"let's all just try to have a good time kids..."

poon i think it's because here most are young guys and they tend to drive like .. young guys! im not a guy but i like to run fast the car sometimes. :p

i think generally girls are supposed to drive more carefully (maybe not the right word for what i mean, im falling asleep, i mean just 'with care, a bit slower maybe but respecting all the others on the road'= positive connotations)

What makes you think we all do this in traffic? I find nice secluded open roads to go fast on. On the freeway I'm just keeping up with the flow by doing 80mph. Also the real dangers on the freeway are those that go slow in the left lane and don't merge at or above the speed of the traffic they are merging into.

i wholly agree. the only time i have been over 85 mph is with either no one around or 1-2 other cars around, and them usually not for long. you can't exceed the speed limit that much in traffic. it's physically impossible. and the slow buggers are the worst, really, the people that slow to a halt waiting to merge. that's the stupidest thing you can do... ah, anyways...

i disagree with you. when i drive around town most everytime i some idiot doing something retarted on the road its a girl. at my school more wrecks have been by girls by a longshot. i had a friend who was a girl and died because she passed in a no passing zone. now i know this doenst apply to every girl, but most girls i do see this applys to, and my parents tend to agree as well as many of my friends.

okay, i am scared whener i see a girl talking to her phone while driving or parking. and i try to get as far from them as i can fast.

i mean they generally do drive slower though. i want to break my 224 ~ roughly 150 mph record .. that's not very girlish. as i don't want to do it at any cost, and talking to phone while driving in public somewhere.

Well, insurance statistics do not back up your casual observations. Young males are much more likely to be involved in traffic accidents than are young females. The death rate for guys is also much higher.

Actually from what I understand young males have less accidents but when they do have them they are quite severe. Young woman on the other hand are more likely to get in minor bumper crunching on a regular basis. In the end guys have higher insurance rates because of the severity of their accidents even though they are far and few between.

Well just this summer I've nearly been sideswiped in the mall parking lot by the same girl in a Ford Focus talking on her phone and not paying attention when going to work. It has to be at least 4 times already, you'd think she'd get a clue and hang up the dang phone when driving around in a parking lot full of cars *and* children.

i would agree with that. i have gotten in one accident because i was folllowing to close. goign about 70 on the highway and someone slamed on their brakes, still dont know why, there wasnt anywhere to turn. but the hole line of cars had to slam on their brakes, and i just scooted into the person. luckily my brakes stopped me pretty good and it wasnt that bad. didnt even do anything to her car.

iJon

I hate that. One time on I-95 one lady slammed on her brakes for no apparent reason and a huge line of cars flew off the road and all over the place all because of some 80 year old lady in a Caddy decided that doing faster than 5 below the speed limit in the left lane was too fast. I'm just glad I had just gotten those new discs put in two weeks earlier because I was just able to brake in time without hitting anyone.

Just today I was making a left turn on a left turn arrow when a car opposite started forward. She was talking on a cell phone, saw the car in her direction in the left turn lane start forward, and just hit the gas. I had to swerve and honk... it took her at least two seconds to come back to earth and figure out what was going on.

I hope no one talking about high speeds here would do it in any area that had any other traffic within 10 miles. Play with your own life. All your superior skills do you no good when grandpa, having checked the empty road to the left, pulls into your lane and you are going 110 mph. Someone going above 100 mph on a lonely highway is a little stupid, someone going 15 mph faster than traffic and weaving between lanes is stupid and just as negligent as someone driving drunk.

Since I got my SUV, I think the fastest I have been up to is about 90MPH passing 3 cars. Before it I had a Sable 24Valve Duratec and I had that going 115MPH a few times, but then it would start to cut out...some safety feature they said.

It's called a speed limiter and all American Sedans have them. The lower priced ones have them at around 115MPH. I think it's to save the crappy motors.

I agree girls are usually more accident prone. I have a 100K Acura NSX for about 2 years always just drove the hell out of the thing. You know drove it like it should be. But one day I let my girlfriend drive it as her car was in the shop getting the 15,000 check up mind you she only had to drive it about 4 miles to the mall. She was ever so kind as to crash right in to the wall at about 30MPH this doesn't sound fast but in a aluminum and carbon fiber car this is WAY bad. The reason why she hit the wall you ask? She had to ANSWER her CELL PHONE!! It goes with out saying that I was a little bit pissed. (but why you ask? Things happen right?)
She had hit the same wall that she hit 6 months before in her little Civic! (no BS) in the same spot. Her reason then, you guess it had to answer the cell phone. And to top it of I had just bought her one of the neat little bluetooth head sets that will answer the cell phone for you. Reason that she was not using it you ask again? She thinks it made her look funny!!

Total cost to fix both cars

Civic 2500 bucks
NSX 8000 dollars!! who knew that carbon fiber was so much. The only reason that is was this cheap I happen to know the guy that owned the shop.

So there it is 10500+ that could have been prevented by a little 100 dollar head set. that she didn't want to wear because it LOOKED Funny.

Her 2 crashes 3 tickets, 20 years old
Me 0 crashes 1 tickets when I was 16, 25 years old.
Her insurance 1/3 of mine for both cars.
I think this is a major problem!!!!
P.S. I still love her and I still let her drive the car but on the 30th she has to go to traffic school. She speeding while she was on the phone LOL

This is not ment to be sexist I just think it is unfair how guess get the shaft on insurance.

A lot of lower end GM cars are limited to 105 because the crappy tires they put on them cannot take a load at more than 110 without blowing.

I feel your pain man. Things are changing in the insurance industry. I think this is a nation wide thing but here in Oregon your credit rating has as much or more affect on your premium now as y our driving history. I have an excellent credit rating and my wife has a good one with no marks but a lot of debt. It kind of equals out and our insurance with both of us with one ticket is the same. Actually mines about $10 cheaper for 6 months.
