Well, my friend has the Diablo that I hit 215 in and the top speed of those is just barely 220, so there must be mods that he did to get that up to those speeds. Then definitely don't come stock being able to do those speeds. As far as that Corvette, well damn. I love Corvettes. I remember last year reading a Road and Track article on how they got permission from the Navy and raced a fighter jet in 0-60 and 1/4 miles with a twin turbo modded Corvette C5 and they ended up out-speeding the jet in a few runs.

Does anyone remember the game for the Mac back in about 1993 called 'Corvette'? In it you could drive the Sledgehammer in San Francisco. At 250MPH you could make some serious jumps.

if i find a 240z in good condition, i know i will be temped to buy it

I love my 240z... theres pics posted somewhere in this thread of it.

Check out the thread i made called do you name your computers. theres a pic of it there. link

Yeah, your Z does look really nice. It's a shame seeing so many on the road that are all beat to hell. I like the paint design on the wheels you have, it gives the car a nice stately appearance.

I need flares, but it will make the car look retarded... Should have went with a smaller wheel. Hopefully my body kit i have for it will make it look better.

But thanks for the compliments. She is my baby and the reason me and my last g/f broke up. Next time i get access to a scanner ill scan some pics of the whole restoration process that i did. Also what it was (a real s*itbox) before i restored it.

I almost lost my girlfriend to my car, too. She would get really jealous that I might love my car more than her at times. Sometimes I suspect Veronica of being jealous of m girlfriend, though, too...I swear, it's some sort of female oriented conspiracy. Either my girlfriend gets jealous and doesn't want to hang out or my car gets jealous and doesn't want to drive right...can I ever win!

I've driven a M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle around 40 miles per hour. They can go upto 60 but they have a governor. It's removed when we get deployed.
Nothing like 35 tons of rolling armor to make you feel absolutely invincible. The 25mm cannon and TOW missle launcher doesn't hurt either.:D

Have you ever seen the movie Christine.

That's all fine and dandy until someone hits all that aluminum armor with a missile and the aluminum starts to burn and kills everyone inside.

Even better yet is a depleted uranium round and since it doesn't have reactive armor it's completely vulnerable. Nah I think I'll stick the Abrams.

Oh, I beg to differ. Most 350 V8's are quite capable of this speed, especially in the no Cat Converter, high octane days.. Quite capable indeed.
I did 125+ on several occassions in my 78 Z28 CAM, but yes it was just slightly (tehe) modified. Any faster, and I'd want to be on a closed track - it just becomes a blur at this speed. AHHH..adrenaline.

A 64' Nova is my dream car!!! Oh My!

I saw a late '60's Nova the other day setup for drag racing with 700+ HP. That would be nutty. Those suckers are so short they just go everywhere when they get on the power.

Top Speed Is only 1 Rush. How about somewhere between 6500 and 8000 horsepower (500 cu in alum TFX Top Fuel Engine) Uses close to 2 gals of 90% nitro fuel every 1 second at full open throttle.

328 MPH **** In 4.74 Seconds **** 1/4 mile pomona, ca

Nothing Compares to that rush, (except feeling the shute open and the car starting to slow down)

My wife and I hit 145MPH going down I-90 in my '79 911SC Targa. It was an experience, having the top off wasn't too wise but we were able to take a few photo's of the speedo. When I get home tonight I will attach them...

176mph on my Yamaha R1. Cars are boring  Press gas...go. Motorcycles totally different :D

what?

perhaps you'd like to try and drive a car with a standard transition. you can't even turn it on without pressing the clutch in.

try and drive it "just pressing the gas." you won't get up to 176 mph-you've got to learn to shift, first.

i'm curious, though--what's so different and more interesting about crotch rockets?

I know how to drive a standard

Ive had my my dad's corvette up to 150mph, get on the highway....press gas....150 Manual 6-speed

Your so exposed when on a bike. When riding my bike, I'm having fun, when driving my car, I'm just driving.

I just love them, hehe

How fast can we post?

Ok being a car guy I was interested in this thread, each page I got through reading meant there was one more to read!

Anyway for my old '85 CRX 180km/h on the track... put yokohama slicks on them and they stick to the road like it's got static cling.

On my '03 Matrix (XRS)... I recently had a run in with a New York State Trooper a few weeks ago... I swear I wasn't going as fast as he said I was, but he was freaking out. He said he had to do 120MPH to catchup. But I don't know if I should believe his story, because even if I was going as fast as he thinks, he would have been closing the gap on me by a quarter mile every 20 seconds. Sigh, now I'm not sure what's going to happen with that. :(

Honestly I haven't streched out the 6th gear, but I think I had it up to about 160km/h on some back roads at my parents place. Mind you at 4000rpm in sixth gear, your doing about 140km/h... with a red line starting at 8000rpm, that's a lot of play room.

I definately want to modify the timing of the varible lift engine. It seems that they set the lift so it would feel more like a 'turbo boost', but I bet if you set it around 5500rpm instead of 6500 rpm you'd get a much smoother power curve. I could also put another $10,000 in that car easy...but I'd rather get a sponsor to do it!

if you don't think a car is just as or more dangerous than a motorcycle, try veering into a lake.

How about applying the front brake at 60mph? Crap on the road like gravel. Smaller profile - more diffficult to be seen. Or even stopping without putting a foot down.

Shadow, a car itself may be able to cause more damage than a motorcycle, but the rider of a motorcycle is far more in harm's way than one in a car, ergo the need for a helmet - and constantly on the lookout for the above items.

i know, but at 170 MPH, it doesn't matter whether you are naked (ok, maybe a little on that)--you're going to die almost instantly in any collision, car or motorcycle, helmet or no.
