I'm glad to see the women representing!! Not to jump on you OP!
I deal with it all the time. Go on the gamer boards or the boards posting about things like the Marvel Universe and it's the same thing! In the dating ad's people need to do full disclosure! I would love to see "looking for a female who would love to spend more time in Home Depot than Macy's! or "looking for someone who would rather get a set of tools rather than a set of pearls!!"
or even "loves tent camping better than a 5 star hotel"
Don't get me wrong though my favorite color is pink, and I better not break a nail doing all that!!!!!
You had me until you wanted me to camp or give up pearls for tools.
Otherwise, you and I agree... except my favorite color is purple.
I do hate it when people assume that only guys are into geeky gadgets and tech. I mean, damn. What about that says "women won't like this?"
I'm a woman and I am a self-admitted gadget whore. And proud of it. LOL.

Strangely compelled to chip in

Another tech wife here, also over 40... I've given up trying to change the perception that socially I might know what I'm talking about...
Started when I was the only girl on my computer science degree, and came too that year, worked in IT ever since!
Husband will never have an AW as he's an android phone man. He's also not as much of a geek as me to want a smart watch... That said I bet if I bought him one (like I bought his fenix) he wouldn't say no...
Oh wow... you're an Apple/Droid household?
That's a tough one.
My husband took some convincing, because, as an IT guy, he was always convinced that Apple stuff was for people who couldn't build a computer.
Then, he met me and I can build a computer and while I don't have a comp sci degree, I'm fascinated by tech instead of intimidated by it.
He watched me with my first gen iPhone and ultimately had to admit that it was a really nice machine. He never hated on Apple, I mean, he had an iPod and all that. He just clung to his Sony candybar phone for a couple more years until the 3GS came out and he decided it was time to buy one.
Since then, he's either taken my previous gen phone or bought a new one now and then. He got a new 5 and he's got a new 6 (I bought him the 6, though, for an early birthday present).
He has an Apple Watch, but it was his anniversary present. He loves it!
If he was heavily into Droid, I would hope we could have a harmonious household, of course. Luckily, all the kids like Apple stuff, so no family squabbles, either.
