Hello everyone! My name's HazyCloud and I'm addicted to unlimited data. I don't think I need it, but I can't bring myself to get rid of it.

Guilty as charged...

It's a no brainer, though... Unlimited for 5 bucks more. You'd be stupid to downgrade. At least that's what I tell myself. :D

Yup, pretty much. I mean, do people complain about all the cable channels they don't watch or the minutes they don't use on their cell plan? Unlimited means never having to worry about it, which is worth $5 a month to me.

I'm Doug, and I have an Unlimited Data Plan through Verizon that I don't use the way I should. I guess the first step is admitting it, eh? Wow, I feel so much better now, thank you. :D

I still won't be downgrading anytime soon ;)

Guilty with an explanation.
I might need it sometime in the future.:D

Guilt too!

But you know when we do need it, they will take it away!

$10 a month between my wife and I we could be saving, however, for $10 I like not worrying about it.

Great post by the way!

Guilty as charged. I find that I'm using wifi a lot more than I thought I would in situations where I'm streaming video, like the airport, etc. Although I am glad that I do have unlimited data because I did happen to snag the Itether app before it disappeared and although I'm going to go easy and not abuse it, I will be using it from time to time.

I use the crap out of Netflix, so I don't want to give it up, but barring that I use very little...

I just got the $30 unlimited plan as new customer on AT&T courtesy of the original iPhone loophole. It's nice to not have to worry about overages. I'll take the throttling any day over $10/GB. Don't really use that much since WIFI is everywhere. Will be nice once the LTE iPhone comes out. Hopefully AT&T allows all of us to keep it.

Present!!

Three iPhones, two of them unlimited. None of them go over 2GB per month, but again, just can't pull the trigger.

::raises hand::

Count me in, most I ever went up to was 3.2GB nothing more. Average about 1.2GB/month I'll never give it up, just in case i need over 2GB one day!

+1

Max ever used is 1.3 GB

Because you know if you let it go and some day you need it, you will only have to get a Mule to kick you in the !@#$%

Has anyone heard anything as to when AT&T adn VZ might be undoing the Grandfathering of these plans

I don't use much 3G data at all--mostly connect with wi-fi but I'll keep the unlimited data. The price difference between the minimum plan and unlimited is just not enough to justify me dropping it.

You will, we use more and more data. Image quality gets higher, use more data. Video quality gets better, use more data. iTunes match, use more data. iCloud, use more data. We are in the infant stage of streaming.

I just upgraded to the 4S on my account, usually I update my wifes account. I had an unlimited dataplan on my line for year (not smartphone), but I have been using smartphones for close to 5 years on it.

I couldn't be grandfathered, because it wasn't a smartphone data plan...kind of sucks, and I get close to 2GB every month...sometimes go over.

I was a member of this club but quit last year when I realized all I was doing was paying an extra $5 a month that was essentially subsidizing those who used MUCH more data than I did. In the 4+ years that I have had an iPhone I have only once exceeded 1GB, and that was only 1.2GB. Usually I use less than .5GB. And I do occasionally tether (MyWi and now iTether for my 4S). But I am usually near wifi so rarely need to tether. I also fear little from AT&T because I have not heard a single report about AT&T cracking down on tethering when on a metered data plan (indeed I don't think they want to traverse that slippery slope). In fact AT&T has gone the other way: the tethering add-on used to only get you the benefit of tethering. Now you pay $20 more per month but you are also getting twice as much data--a much better deal IMO.

So in the last 15 months I have saved $75. Not much, I know, but it would have been money thrown away on unlimited. So for me the 2GB plan is perfect. If I happen to go over it an extra gig is even cheaper than the first 2 were ($10 vs $12.50). But so far Have not even come close to going over it. And I really don't watch how I use 3G--if there is no wifi I use it, no worries.

As more people like me quit this club those using a boatload of data each month are going to be harder and harder for AT&T to justify. And by boatload I don't mean 2GB-5Gb per month. I mean 8-25GB per month (yes, I have seen people use 25GB!).

But kudos to those who persevered. Sometimes I miss the old club!

Count me in on that club.

Also, ATT can not throttle an account until they can guarantee a data rate. Sometimes I get .12 mbs sometimes I get 2.9mbs, so what are they going to do throttle me down to nothing. When they can guarantee a 7 or 9 MB down then sure if I go to high throttle me doen to a slow 1.9Mb, but how are they going to take my .12mbs or sometimes as low as .04mbs and lower it even further in SO Cal.

Then its time to go to court!

I'm an early member of the club, joining as soon as it was possible. I did it for future iterations of the iPhone and not knowing how much data I would need for them. I stay for the same reasons.

I thought that Siri would use a lot of data, but so far that has not been happening, and I use her a lot.

I'm waiting on ATT to make me an offer I can't refuse...until then I will keep it.

cool a new club I belong to :)

unlimited family plan, but both of use are normally on wifi so I could totally downgrade...but choose not to

LOL this is a great thread - count me in. I never get close to that limit but you never know...

Three Verizon lines with unlimited data - One of the lines has a LG Env3 - I just added data on July 7th (that was the day wasn't it?) because I knew I would need it one day....

**caveat** If Verizon comes up with a family data pack (5G for $50 - or something like that) I may give it up - I never go over 100mb - I seem to be in range of WiFi 99% of the time....

I still think that we should be able to get our data from other sources - and not be required to get it from our principal voice provider. The freedom to choose NO DATA - or to choose to carry a dongle from another provider (Clear) should be an option.

Hell, that would allow our iPhones to stay relevant long after 4G is nationwide - our iPhones would be as fast as our wifi radios could push data!

Free To Tether With Whomever!

(I may have to trademark that!)

Present!!

I don't think I will be letting it go anytime soon.

Anyone else notice there data usage go up since the 4S came out. I'm still on the 4 haven't really changed my usage, just regular web browsing and pandora but have been going over the 2GB the last two months. Makes me really appreciate having unlimited data. :D

Im in used to use about 250mb a month with my iphone 3G. Bought the 4s the day it came out and it looks like Im averaging about 700mb a month with the new phone. I find it I use it more often because its so much faster then the 3G was. But still not even close to needing unlimited but im not giving it up in case I need it in the future.
