Well when I had my 3GS I used between 1.5-3GB consistently each month, and now with my 4S, I've used between 4-4.5GB each month with no sign of slowing down. I'll be keeping my unlimited plan until AT&T forces me to part with it.

And the day they do that is the day I give up my iPhone because I won't be able to stand having such a beast of a phone, yet not being able to really use it because of a capped data plan. At least my newly signed AT&T contract when I got my 4S guarantees me 2 more years of unlimited data.

How do you multi-gb people get that much data usage? Do you not have wifi at home/work/school? What are you doing when not on wifi? (Netflix, pandora, spotify, something else)

I've got wifi at home and at work but 3G is much faster than my work wifi. I do most of my streaming while in the car though. I use Pandora and Instacast quite a lot while driving around town (my work commute is only 15 minutes). It's really not that hard to rack up if you stream a lot while out and about.

I have a friend who does a lot of airfield monitoring (he sits and waits for something to happen) and he uses A LOT of data. Last I saw he had hit over 7GB and all of that was just Netflix streaming while away from the wifi network at his main building. I think he watched almost an entire TV series on 3G.

Guilty as charged...

It's a no brainer, though... Unlimited for 5 bucks more. You'd be stupid to downgrade. At least that's what I tell myself. :D

Yep, I tell myself the same thing. I've debated with myself a few times to try to convince myself to downgrade to save the $5 or $15/month, but I can never get myself to change my mind.:p ( I feel like I used the word "myself" too many times here.....)

Here's my data usage for the past 6 months. I really have no idea what happened in September.

i'm holding on to the unlimited data plan for that one killer app that comes out. if it ever comes out, we shall see!

I have wireless at home and work, but not in my car, and a lot places I go.

Um, when I'm in my car, I'm driving, not using data-intensive apps.

Wifi at home, at the office, at the coffee shops I go to, the mall, etc. As you can see by my graph above, I do use some data when I'm out and about and not in wifi, but not much.

Here's mine. The October & November ones are really high since I got my GalaxyS2

Right now, I'm at ~750mb, and I'm a little more than halfway through my bill-cycle.

I don't really need unlimited, I'd be fine with 2gb.

EDIT: It'd help if I uploaded the picture...

I'm grandfathered in with the International Unlimited Roaming at $65/month and that is well worth it for me when I travel to the UK or Egypt. I never have to worry about overages and data roaming where you really get screwed over. My travels have slowed down a lot, but I just can't let go.

When I'm not using my car's Sirius/XM, I use my iPhone's TuneIn Radio app in the car. It's not very data intensive.....

Fair enough. It just seemed, based on your response, that you may have been confused as to why the person was speaking of data use in the car. :)

Aw. I can't join this club... cause I'm unlimited... but I use upwards of 8-10GB per month on data lol

Can't go cheap even if I wanted to

Raising hand here...... Yep, been on Unlimited since the very first day -- iPhone Launch, 2007. I keep telling myself that it's silly to hang on to this when most of the time I'm using WiFi anyway, and also that I've got it on the iPad every month, too, and yet I still keep clutching to it, thinking, "well, I might need it some time....."
