I guess technically I don't need it, however since I do have it I use it.

I've still got mine and I'll keep it until AT&T says I have to get rid of it or change carriers. Now that I got the Tether app the other I know it was the right decision.

Yup! I don't think I have ever gone over 2 GB, I just don't want to worry about going over... so basically I have been giving AT&T free money.

I wouldn't drop it for the world. There are months that I hardly use any data at all, but there there are times that I am well over the 2gig limit so just glad it is there. Besides, the $5.00 more I spend for it is worth the piece of mind.

know I probably don't need it, but I probably would not like monitoring data. One of the main reasons I stayed with att (plus much faster data). Coming from an original 3g, it has been great. The radio strength is night and day.

Can't you set up text alerts to your phone when you get to certain data amounts on Att.com so you don't have to worry about anything?

probably, but theres never been a need to do so. I've always had unlimited. Just one less thing to think about, same with texts. Although I hope I message can put a huge damper on the theft that is text messaging rates.

yeah I am never getting rid of it...never know when I might need it. at least this way I never have to worry about going over my data...actually I never have to worry about going over anything because I got a special deal last year with Verizon and I have unlimited talk and text too.i was trying to look at my data usage because I had considered changing it but seeing the costs...I'll stay put!

I really don't need it. I don't think I've gone over 1GB/month - and that's with tethering. I just can't bring myself to get rid of it though.

Present.

I've been thinking, if all AT&T users increase their monthly average, would the "top 5%" number rise as well from about 5Gb to say... 10Gb?

Hey man I agree, Ive been thinking about this a lot lately wandering what the best way would be to organize as many people as possible( a thread on here, a new website, or just a thread or blog and keep pushing it and emailing tech sites with what we were trying to do to get the word out to as many unltd cust. As possible) and just have everyone who has unltd whether they kneed and use it or not raise their data usage. If u have it. It don't use it much leave pandora streaming on mute as you sleep, and just keep communication up so people k ow how much to use etc. I think with some planing it would work and pay off. Ideas or suggestions?
* a great way to start is anyone who doesn't use at least a couple gigs, when it comes to the end of the month and u k is how much you've used just for the last couple days intentionally use some real heavy data to at least get ur usage up to a couple gigs that way you know you don't have to worry about throttling but you'd be doing wonders to increase what the top five percent can use and aftera while that number just gets bigger and bigger.

I rarely go over 1gb/month as well, but I have the unlimited plan too. I don't tether though, since most places where I want to use my laptop have wifi. But the unlimited plan is just much more -- I don't have to worry about finding a wifi hotspot all the time.

Got rid of mine the day AT&T switched to tiered plans. I still don't get spending an extra $5/month for something if you never plan on using it. And in the case you do use it one (or two, three, four, five) times in a year, you'd still be throwing money away.

Maybe it's just me? I can't just practically throw money away like that, even if it's just $5.

Just thought I'd dig this up to say, holy crap. I'm glad I still have my unlimited data plan. All you can eat LTE on the iPad for $30 might be one of the best tech bargains around. Here in NYC the speeds are fantastic.

Time will tell if AT&T decides to pull the plug on this, but for now, I finally feel like I'm not just paying insurance.

See your other thread.

3G unlimited users - capped at 3gig
4G/LTE unlimited users - capped at 5gig

This is per AT&T.

sorry if this should be obvious but I've been out of touch recently, firstly do these limits apply to both smartphone/iphone plans and iPad plans or just one or the other, and also do you have a link to the other thread you are referring to. I might need to buy a android LTE phone just for this seeing as i can't pop my iPhone sim into the iPad. thanks for any and all info

I honestly don't know if I still have it. I know I was grandfathered in at one point, but I haven't tested the boundaries to see if it stuck. According to my account features, it says "Unlimited" and makes no mention of a data limit.

I rarely use anything that would put me over a limit anyway. When I'm at home, the phone feeds off my wifi. I rarely get close to a GB of AT&T's data a month.
