3Gs is syncing way faster, seems like almost half the time. It took my 3G like 15 min to sync all my music and app's but the s is almost done after 5 min.

Not activated yet

Got my 3GS this lunch time at Reg st. Apple store: for some reason they were not able to activate it at the time (they did explain to me why, but I was far too excited to be listening).

Went for 16gig in white (so I can tell the difference between new one and the old 8gig 3G).

Will tweet when it's up and running (and no doubt quite a lot before hand too) - check out @jarundell

Was in line at around 5:50am, (#26 in line) store opened at 7am and I was back out the door in 10 mins! 3GS is great, liking the new coating, faster, snappier, installing all my stuff on it now and I'll be good to go! Well worth the upgrade IMO. Apple and AT&T seem to have their act together this time. The process went MUCH smoother with no hiccups at all. Good Job!

got mine at 7:30am this morning the video recording is AMAZING and also backing up the iphone on itunes is FAST....

Anyone else have any problems activating it? I've always experienced near instantaneous activations from home but my 3GS has been sitting there a few minutes trying to reach the mothership.

Is mine the onlyh Apple Store that opened at 6am? I looked online and it said 7am. So when I showed up at 4:30 i expected a long wait. Then two episodes of Entourage later they opened the mall and said Apple was open. Sweet. Apple opened a full hour ahead!!!

Got mine this morning at 7:10 and the pick up experience was nice and smooth! I can not wait until I get off work to play around with it.

The speaker is at least 3 times louder than my 16GB 1G iPhone. It's definitely speedy, games launch ridiculously quickly and run beautifully. Great update, but I already miss the aluminum back of my 1G. These new iPhones just feel fragile.

Its noticeably faster, the camera is good. All in all I love it. I'm really glad I got it.

I was first in the store in columbus, oh. Its a great device! still lacking in come areas but I think this is finally the device that we were all hoping for with the Frist Gen.

here are some pics of the iPhone Fam:

3G and 3GS have the Power Support anti-glare screen protector (I like the feel of it and figured better safe than sorry).

it does feel fragile, I have a Innocase II Surface case and holster coming on wednesday... am thinking I might want to go buy something cheap but protective to hold me over for the time being.

Yes the first gen had the best build spec, but I had my 3G for about a year and never had a problem with it - I use the old one as a touch with built in camera (with video :) ) so will probably do the same with the 3G too.

What is everyone else planning to do with their old ones?

Check out twitter for my initial thoughts circa 7pm BST @jarundell

I was the only one at the AT&T Store in Princeton WV . . . at 4:30am,
I was still the only one at 7:00 am when they opened. Originally I was told there would be two lines, and pre orders would go first and then they would take regular customers at 8 or 9. Well, I was in and out by 7:20! The first one in Princeton WV with an iPhone 3GS.

The phone is much faster. I like the new screen. Maps with satilite loaded twice as fast!

I love the upgrade! Wait ago Apple!

Exceeds my expectations from top to bottom. Im completely synced up, played with it for a few hours and now Im going to smoke a blunt and go to sleep. Happy launch.

Just got mine this morning at about 7:35. Waited in line from 4:45, they made 2 seperate lines (One reserved and one not) and were letting people in from the non reserved line even though they lined up around half an hour after us...but I got my phone in due time so it's all good.

But the phone itself is awesome, very fast, much faster than the second gen iPod touch. Apps load way faster, especially the larger ones. Safari is smooth as silk. The camera is also pretty sweet, video is nice quality for such a tiny lens. Compass is a nice feature, the compass app itself seems to be a little finicky at times, but the rotating google maps is great. Overall I'm very impressed.

I got mine at 830am from the ATT store. I was a pre-order so they let me walk past the line of about 20 people and come right it. I ordered a 16gb, but they let me exchange it for a 32gb.

I like the phone so far. Its my first iphone so i really cant compare it to the 3g. I'm still learning :)

I know the 8GB 3G is thinner and lighter than the 16GB.

Is the 32GB heavier and thicker than the 16GB?

Although I've only had it for about an hour, it's evident that it's a better phone than the 3G. The screen is great, tap all over it and you barely see any finger prints. The video camera is incredible; it FAR exceeds my expectations. For anyone wondering how it compares to Cycorder on a JB iPhone, it is so much more crisp and the interface is obviously better as well. The phone is a lot snappier but I'm used to a JB 3G that hadnt been restored since 2.2 first came out so I'll reserve full judgement for the moment.

All in all it's an improved version of the best phone on the market. For those switching over to AT&T I would highly reccomend the 3GS over the 3G if you can afford the extra $100. Happy launch day everyone.
