I wouldn't trust those "October" dates from apple. I think they are there just to slow down the order rate or something, but they obviously don't mean crap.

I was reading in this thread that people were purchasing them even though they said "October delivery" and then got it the next week.

So just ordered a lightning cable on the website (which said october delivery) and that was two days ago. Welp, its already in transit, and ill be receiving it today.
Yeah, but the cables are available most places. We're talking about the adapters, which are still completely unavailable.

As bad as the iPhone 5 sucks down the battery, it's no longer a wireless device.;)
It has to be plugged in all the time and you are going to need 10 lightning cables and adapters.

Battery life is quite good for me. Among the best of the smartphones I've owned (too many to count over the past decade).

The apple store near me is kind of pissing me off. I have called them twice and have been told twice that they have the adapters only to go in store and have them tell me, October.

With the delivery dates in October I just went to ebay and found everything a 1/2 to 2/3rds less.

You & me brother + I suspect many others.

Sorta frustrating as many posters FAIL to read first or post accurate data concerning what they have/have not found.

Do this:

At 11PM use the Apple Store app, add a USB-To-Lightning Cable to the cart.

Choose "in store pickup". It'll tell you which stores nearby have the cable.

Pick a store, hit checkout, next morning you'll get a confirmation email, go to the store.

I did this last night, picked up my cables this afternoon. The stores only get 10-12 of these per day and the only way to get one is to preorder the night before after their inventory systems update at around 10PM.

Found a ton at local Apple Store (Fairview Mall, Toronto), just no employee was available for the checkout process. Was referred to only ONE employee who could do the checkout process, but he went on to answer other questions for the person before me. Waited for 10 minutes and left empty-handed.

That doesn't use the line-out though, it's through the headphone jack.

The Apple Store in Altamonte Mall (Orlando) said that they are hearing just "October" for the adapters as well. They have plenty of Lightning cables.

Found cables and a spot for the adapters in my local Sprint store today, they said they just got them in stock.

The USB-Lightning cables aren't a problem though. My Apple Store has a full wall of those. The problem is with the 30 pin to Lightning adapters. They keep telling me they have them, but when I go down they don't even have a section with them hung up.

I walked and bought.

No one has adapters which is why I said go to eBay. Apple won't have them much sooner that eBay merchants. Besides $30 bucks, what a total ripoff.

I ordered them from eBay, but, both vendors returned my money. Both said they don't work. The genuine Apple ones cost more $ than in the stores. I'll wait .

There have also been reports that those knockoff adapters are frying people's phones. IMO, I'd much rather wait a month or so and spend an extra $25 over what a knockoff might cost and be sure that my phone was gonna be OK in the long run. :)

Sprint users. I picked up ip5 on launch day from a local sprint store. Another sprint store on Atlanta called today and offered lighting cable for 25% off. So $15 plus tax and free shipping. Power adapter for $16 shipped as well

The apple store in palisades mall, west Nyack NY had a crap load of lighning cables... no adapters though....

I'm starting to wonder if Apple is having manufacturing problems with these adapters. Why else would they not exist at all, not even in small quantities?

My success: Check Apple Store app for in-store pick availability in the morning before local Apple store opens for business.

Got two lightning cables by doing this. Will be employing the same technique for the "0.2 m Lightning to 30-Pin Adapter" for my car.

~ Checked in-store pick up at 3 pm on 9-28: App said they would be available 10-19.
~ Checked in-store pick up at 9 am on 9-29: App showed them available for pickup
