The keynote was a cluster****, I'll give you that.

What is wrong the pre-order? The phone hasn't even gone on sale yet.. You have no idea if they'll miss their delivery target and you're already complaining about being unprepared.

Pre orders were suppose to start at 12 pst..
they didn't get the website working for pre orders unitl 3-4 pst....
there were so many errors on peoples orders.. the app crashed a certain times.. It just hasn't been a smooth process. R.I.P steve jobs..

Yeah, you're right... but it just made me nervous that my status actually regressed (and I received a weird cancellation e-mail from Verizon.) I just spoke to a guy at Apple support, and even though he sounded a bit stoned, he said that nothing looked unusual about my order and couldn't verify that the status changed from processing to preparing for shipping. Ah, well. Maybe it will switch back!

Not trying to be a pessimist, but keep checking on it. They told me the same thing after I called a couple of different times to check on why it went from "preparing for shipment" to "processing" and they kept telling me that everything was fine, only to find out that things weren't really fine.

Yeah, I'm with you. But what convinced them that everything wasn't actually fine. I nagged the guy to check everything he could and he said that there were no holds nor "carrier holds" indicated in the system and that it looked like an absolutely normal open order. At first he tried to convince me that sometimes e-mails come out of order, so I had to explain that I never received any type of e-mail and that I was just checking the page. He seemed befuddled about the status, but couldn't find anything. Do you remember what you ended up doing to get them to admit there was a problem?

I feel like all the iPhone 6 tmobile space gray orders are still processing according to this thread lol me included.

I had every intention of pre-ordering at 12:01 a.m. PT but in anticipation, I consumed an entire bottle of chardonnay while watching multiple episodes of Mixology on Netflix. I'm not sure if it was the wine or that terrible show that put me to sleep, but alas, there'd be no midnight pre-ordering for me. Interestingly, I managed to peel my drunken self off the floor at about 2 a.m. and thought of heading to ye old MacBook Air to place a pre-order but I quickly dismissed that notion as I crawled to my bed.

Anywho... At 6:45 a.m. PT, after 4 or so hours of sleep, I arose from slumber with a pounding headache and the primary goal of placing my pre-order. I initially tried on my iPhone using the Apple Store app, but it wasn't working properly. So I tried my iPad. I was able to initiate the process but it stalled. Tried Apple.com was able to get through to configuring the order (iPhone 6, 128GB, Space Grey with AT&T Next) but when I tried to add it to the cart, I received an error message that read "Customers who use their iPhone primarily in New York cannot use the AT&T Next purchase option online." "WTF?", I whispered to myself. While I've had an NYC number for the last 13 years, I haven't lived in NYC since 2006. So I was perturbed at that. Didn't really understand why those with a NY number couldn't use AT&T next on apple.com nor did I care to investigate why at the time because, you know... hangoverville.

I then went to att.com to see if I could place the pre-order there. Shockingly, the process was pretty smooth. Shockingly, because att.com is the worst e-commerce site ever. I had no hiccups or issues. I was given a 9/19 delivery date on the site and within minutes received an e-mail confirming the order as well as the aforementioned delivery date. I was so surprised at how well that went, I thought I might have still been sleeping. Thankfully, it was real.

So I went about my morn, preparing for the day, grunting 'ugh' every time the sunlight caught my eyes, when I heard the lovely incoming e-mail chime. I checked my phone and saw that it was an email from AT&T. The subject read "Your att.com order ************ needs further attention". "WTF?", I yelled out loud. The message encouraged me to contact AT&T immediately. So I did. And waited an eternity until I received an automated message of something about technical difficulties. BS, whatever. I tried calling back but received the same BS message. "Eff it," I say to myself, "I'll call those bastards back later."

At about 12:30, I was able to speak to a rep. Aubrey. She was polite and very helpful. She explained that they needed to confirm the shipping address. Really? Anyways, I confirmed it and everything was in order. I was concerned that my delivery date might be pushed back, but Aubrey said that my iPhone 6 was still scheduled to deliver by the 19th. "Goodie," I declared. All was in order.

Until I decided to check my order status online an hour or two later. (We all check our order status at least 10 times a day leading up to delivery). ATT.com now gave me a shipping date of 10/13/14 - 10/31/14! "How the hell?", I yelled. After a moment of cursing AT&T in my head, I calmed myself down in hopes that ridiculous date was some computer generated falsification. After all, Aubrey told me the 19th. And humans never ever lie to other humans. And they had already charged my CC. So I went about my day as if I had never saw that absurd delivery timeframe.

Fast forward to a few moments ago. I'm home. And suddenly remembered :p that I had pre-ordered a brand spanking new iPhone 6. Instead of relying on att.com's ball of lies of when my phone would deliver, I decided to call the customer service line. I used the automated system and would you believe it said "the items in your order are on backorder"? WHAT THE ****?!?!? AT&T can never get their **** together.

But I've decided that I'm just going to play it out and see what happens between now and next Friday. If I receive my delivery next Friday, "goodie". If not, I'll definitely give Aubrey a call.

And yes, I'm drinking chardonnay again tonight.

Lol

I remember that I called them right when I first discovered that it was downgraded, and let them tell me that everything was alright and it was normal. They told me that it would go back to preparing for shipment the following day. The following day it didn't, so I called again and they told me the exact same thing. It was finally the day before launch when I called again and talked to several people, and they tried telling me the exact same thing. However, I asked to speak to a manager because I doubted their ability to get it shipped and on my front door step by the next day. After talking to the manager (and becoming very upset and loud), they finally contacted Verizon and dug deeper into the situation. It was a very rare glitch they said that caused the order to get lost in the information exchange between Apple and Verizon.

So long story short, the only thing that can be done at this time is either monitor it, or require a definitive answer with actual facts rather than guesses from management. Also, another tip I used when talking to Apple, I told them that I was leaving town for several weeks the day after launch (which wasn't true) and needed to find out the situation.

I pre ordered 2 128GB iPhone 6 Plus's, Gold and Space Gray from Apple Store App around 3:30am EST and got 7-10 day, Oct 1 - 6 Delivery.

I just called apple customer service and the guy said he can't do anything about the arrival date but he can upgrade my shipping for free to NEXT DAY SHIPPING. So when ever it does ship, it gets there quicker.

Doing so changed my Delivery date from Oct 1-6 to Sept 29-Oct 2nd

Its not much, but I really did appreciate even this much. I wasn't expecting anything, but really polite really helped

The only email i have gotten is "You're order is being processed"..
has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks! I'll see if anything happens overnight and give them a call tomorrow and ask to speak to manager and see if they can dig deeper into the Verizon situation. I don't want it to just sit there and be delayed if there's something that can be done now.

Yeah if you are able to catch it early enough, they can most likely still get it on the 19th.

My preorder from att.com just got bumped up 9/23-10/2 to 17-18 Sept :)

I just hope it stays that way (or improves) and that they deliver it quickly and not take a week. I don't have a clue what type of shipping I even have with this.

Yesterday mine switched to "Preparing for Shipment", but today it switched back to "Processing Items". It stills says that it's going to be delivered on 9/19 though!

This happened to me also... would be lying if I said it didn't bother me a bit, but I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow. Hopefully it's not the "glitch" or whatever...

I ordered after you on the apple site 3:48 am est 128 6 plus gold verizon and my delivery date is 9/19

My guess for people opting to pick up their phones on the 19th is that they will not see anything passed processing, except maybe a shipped to store notification the day before. The phones are likely already at their respective stores, and no preparing is required beyond selecting a phone for preorder. Has anyone who is picking up their phone seen anything passed processing?

That is an interesting observation!

Mine was ordered ~2:30 AM PST and it's still "Processing Items" for pickup, but it was only today 9/14 that I saw the transaction posted on my credit card statement.

My serial number is now showing up in my Apple Support Profile. Yay! ...except I'm not sure what that means lol. I've seen some posts about the Support Profile here on this forum a couple times but not really sure the significance. Can somebody please explain?

By the way, my 64gb space gray iphone 6 is still "preparing for shipment" and I ordered via the iPad app.

Well, I guess you can look at it as you have a specific phone in the Apple factory that you're going to get. It's only a matter of time before it gets picked up by FedEx or UPS.
