Ok, so I called the apple online store back again today. First went thru sales, then on to customer service. I wanted to inquire the status of my order due to the fluctuation of dates. I was told that I was in the "second wave" of orders to be sent out.

I was really polite and just kept the conversation going eventually said that a few of my friends were in the same boat as me and 4 of them were offered a free case. She said she wasnt aware of anything like that and then she put me on hold for like 6 or 7 minutes. She finally said this is a one time thing I can do, i'll ship you a case free of charge. She asked me whether i wanted leather or silicone, I chose the leather in black for the 6 Plus.

The key is just to be polite.

I know that it will come when it comes, but here's my story.

Ordered within 1 minute of the store coming up (12:15a PST in my case), the system could not reach my carrier so it gave me a "Your iPhone is reserved, conf #xxxxx you will receive another email when your order can be completed".

I got the 2nd email at 8:47a the next day and completed it immediately. I was then given a confirmation and delivery window Oct13 to Oct20. (6+ Space Gray 128gb)

Today, days later, I check the store and get almost the same delivery date for a new order, hmmm. So much for "reserving" one's place in line...

I decided to call Apple, not angry, just to let them know that this year's process doesn't seem right. The agent took a good chunk of time to attempt to track down what happened. In the end they can't do anything to get me my Plus any sooner.

BUT, they felt my pain and decided to give me a $150 refund AND are waiving the charge for the case I had also ordered. So while I will lose some of my old phone trade-in dollars due to the delay of my new phone's arrival, I was happy that Apple recognizes their good customers and tries to satisfy, hat's off.

I had carved time for my guilty pleasure of watching the annual keynote "Nerd Stock", only to have the stream barf all over itself immediately and never really recover. So all in all, this year's intro was a bit rough, but it's great stuff and obviously more popular than ever.

Maybe some day we will simply will be able to reserve for pickup at our Apple store, (I vowed to NEVER stand in an Apple line again after waiting all day for "out of stock" surprise), one can dream.

Exactly! Politeness is key. I also had 2 pre orders but only got 1 case. I was more than happy with that because they definitely DO NOT have to do that what so ever. I was very appreciative :)
 
Free Case

I just got the free case! Just call in, be super nice, and say that you ship date had changed. I'm guessing due to the mix up with the websites in the beginning, apple is quietly giving out free cases.

Did the same thing just now! Just asked about the status of my order. The rep was so nice! She hooked me up with a black leather case for my iPhone 6 Plus and a soft pink leather case for my girlfriend's iPhone 6. Always pays to be friendly... or for them to see you bought the iPhone 6 Plus 64gb off contract...

Also, I think she did two cases because I spent so much and the two iPhones were on separate orders.

Can't wait! Shipping is a little behind when the phones are supposed to come in, but can't beat free cases!

Apple is literally making no profit on your phone.

I am glad they are stepping up and taking care of you.

Case is now Tracking

Ok, So the Leather case is now tracking also from California. So I should get the case and phone at the same time.

Free Case & Preparing for Shipment

My iPhone 6 16GB from Sprint is "Preparing for Shipment" with 9/19 delivery :). I pre-ordered my iPhone at 4:58AM EST, Sept. 12.

Also, I got a free case from Apple! Just call and be friendly :):)

So... what do you say to get the free case.. I get why some of the other folks got it and did it.. there shipping date was changed.. ?

You just have to call Apple to get a free case? How? Without a reason?
 
So I just called FedEx to see if there are any packages shipped to to my address, and the representative said that there is one. But he will not give me the tracking number of it.. What an a**hole.
 
I asked did my CC process correctly, will my iPhone 6 arrive on 9/19, and will my iPhone ship via UPS or Fedex. Then, the apple rep. offered me the case, free of charge.

I feel like If I asked those questions, i'll be in the position to say "hey can you send me a free case" instead of them offering it to me out of the blue :/ But I do want a free case :)
