Just pulled the trigger on a refurbed 27" for $1,129. My needs are basic email, web browse and iTunes so old hardware with a cheap price tag is fine by me!

2.7ghz i5
4g ram
1tb hdd
6770m 512mb

I currently use a 13.3 mid 2011 mba but I want to go back to that wonderful screen resolution of the 27". I'll probably run it in target display mode for a while then buy an external ssd for the iMac.

is the 3rd time the charm?

after a dead LCD on a refurb i decided to grab a new base 21.5 iMac from Apple Retail. 10 days with it, i love it, but realize i should have purchased one with Fusion. i mean i am going to have this machine for a while. we had our last PC for 5 or 7 years because we really just use it for email, internet, and family photo/video stuff.

back to the Apple store for a no question easy return yesterday then i ordered another online. this time i should be good. :)

Showed up yesterday, a day late, as FedEx completely ignored the Pre Sign for Delivery Auth taped to the door. Dude stuck the "We Missed You" FedEx notice right next to it. Seriously.

Anyway it came with OS X 10.8.4 so first thing this morning I am downloading Mavs......

Just received our 27 inch i5 with fusion and 780m. Finally was able to setup and use it today. This is our first iMac, and I'm so impressed. Definitely made the right choice in getting the 27 inch. Thanks for the advice and help on this forum.

can you let me know the specs when you receive it? some people have reported getting a better spec'd machine upon arrival

Arrived!

Ok so UPS just delivered my new iMac :)

This thing is huuugggeee. I am going to need a better chair to be able to get eye level with this thing.

Unfortunately I needed to shoot off to work once I had confirmed everything was working okay.

Going to be a long day till I get home :)

Congrats :)

Can I ask you why you didn't opt for the i7 ?

Cost! £1.7k was my limit, but I spent £2k anyway :) I could not reason with the wife for any more than that!

I am pretty sure the i5 will be good enough for web design work and some gaming.

I guess you are right, might as well save 200 euros on the i5 to i7 upgrade and buy something useful :D

Was on the fence between them as well :)

Finally pulled the trigger to replace my trusty mid-2007 iMac

  • 27 inch
  • NVIDIAGeForceGTX775M 2GB GDDR5
  • 3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
  • 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB
  • 3TB Fusion Drive
  • Applecare

Might bump the memory up to 24GB, and have to consider archive and time-machine needs (I have a FW 2x2TB RAID that should work for quite a while).

Be cool to have a nice new FAST mac!

Sitting on the porch when I got home. Put a clean copy of Mavs on, and used Migration Assistant, which did a really good job with apps and settings (first time I'd used it, impressed). Working to copy all the other data over now.

Had a few glitches, probably related to spotlight indexing and other assorted startup stuff.

It's nice and fast, things like System Preferences just come up, no delay, which is nice. The bigger screen is really good, I like how the backlighting can be turned down lower the my old system. Good when it get dark.

I'll be interested to see how the Fusion drive setup works once I quit beating the crap out of it by copying over a Gigs of data.

So far, so

Just had a 8 year old 24" Dell 2407 WFP die today. It's attached to a mid 2011 Mac Mini. Was contemplating buying a Thunderbolt Display but decided not to go that route given the expense and some older tech i.e. USB 2.0

Decided to sell the Mac Mini and purchase an iMac. Here's the config I ordered today:

Base 21" iMac with these changes:

- 256 SSD
- Magic Trackpad
- Wired Keyboard with Number Pad

Don't mind stepping down in screen resolution from the Dell's 1920 x 1200 to the iMac's 1920 x 1080. Will be nice to get rid of the mess of wires behind the desk.

Coming in around $1479 + taxes. Should be able to get around $550 back from selling the mac mini. All in all, while not the wisest financial decision, it should be good for the next 5 years.

On 11/12/13 I pull the trigger on my 1st iMac....I been checking on the Shipping status & for the past two days it's been stuck on "Processing Items" status....Are they always this slow?

Hi JRos. If this was a customized iMac it will take a couple days for processing. This is normal. If it takes more than 4 days you should contact Apple.

you should feel luck , if I order a dvd from amazon it will take at least 10 days to get here, most likely 2 weeks.

I ordered my new iMac.
It's the 27" model:

3.4 GHz i5
8GB Ram
GTX 780M 4GB
256GB SSD

I moved from a 2011 21.5" base model an I am really looking forward to get the machine :)

Replacing my i5 69701G iMac finally... ordered a new i5, 512G SSD, 780/4G graphics. Thinking I will do fine with 8g memory initially, can always bounce over to crucial for more

My iMac order is delayed :/

Ordered it on the 18th, got email today saying that due to high demand they cannot ship it today so they will ship it on 26th :/ and delivery moved from 25-27 to 28-2 ://////
