Got the email notification that they recieved my payment today.
(i payed using bank/wire-transfer or hows it called)

It says: (translated this from dutch, so might not be 100% correct)

Your order is expected to be delivered in 3 business days.
Your order will probably be delivered no later than May 17, 2011 at the delivery address.

2nd line, they basicly mean at the very latest, it would be shipped at May 17, 2011, but it could/will be sooner.

so guessing monday/tuesday.. maybe wednesday?

That RAM is such a waste. $100 later at Newegg, watch as people start sticking 8GB of 1600 RAM in and selling the stock RAM.

Yes it is a waste of money buying from Apple. I wouldn't sell the old stuff - just whack it in with the original and then have 12 GB - perfect for Parallels / /Vmware.

I ordered last week from UK store

3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
1TB Serial ATA Drive
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5
APPLE MAGIC MOUSE-Z
APPLE REMOTE
Apple WL Kybd+User's Guide-B
COUNTRY KIT,IMAC-GBR

Also got the bigger keyboard as will probably sell the wireless one on ebay
+ ordered 2 x 4GB RAM from crucial

Yesterday my shipment status was In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule. Does anyone know if that means it will arrive next day (i.e today?)

Never been this excited about a computer before :D

let me know what it says on there

I have tried my tracking number on all the main courier sites (it starts with 81?) but no luck.
Apple says it is being shipped by Syncreon Technology, I think this is just the logistic managment company? Not sure who they use for the UK?

The delivers by date hasn't changed (still the 12th May) I was hoping it may be sooner

I'M EXCITED!

Place my order on Thursday - 27" i7 3.4GHz, 2TB HDD (thinking about a Vertex 3 install at some point), 4GB ram (will upgrade myself), 2GB GPU, Magic Trackpad & Wired Keyboard (already have Magic Mouse & Wireless Keyboard so thought I may as well complete the collection!), and the AppleCare Plan.

Just got my shipment notification email today, it is stating delivery on or before the 11th May, but it's coming from UPS Ireland so there's a possibility it may arrive Monday/Tuesday...

... I repeat, I'M EXCITED!

Yeah my tracking number doesn't seem to be working either, also starts with 81...

Perhaps we should look at this as a blessing in disguise, not being able to obsessively track every 5 minutes! ... More likely however is that we'll be checking the tracking number every 5 minutes to see if it works!

I think you maybe right...congrats on your purchase, never wanted the weekend to go so quick in my life!! :D

Gonna order one of the new iMac's from B&H photo when they reopen later today. It's going to be replacing my 2009 13" MacBook Pro.

Just ordered at refurb 2010 2.93 i7 for $1567. Can't wait!! :D Only the 2200+ new i7 beats this thing in geekbench. I was leaning towards the 2009 i7 but I had a feeling I'd miss the vram and have to deal with the problems the 2009s had.

Don't care about thunderbolt (nothing on the market yet and I have a feeling what does come out will be very expensive) or hd webcam I figured this would be awesome for what I want to use it for. Also I have a 2010 macbook air and getting an xbox so I'll appreciate target display mode thank you very much. I love my macbook air more than any other laptop I've owned but it will be nice to have a real processor. I wish I could afford an ipad 2 then I'd be in tech heaven but my wallet needs a break.

I also have a hunch that this thing will be practically new. I visited my local apple store and they said they just sent back their stock of 2010 imacs. Seeing how the apple store runs out of many refurb models every 24 hours or so I'd guess that they're just trying to clear out the stock that's being sent back to them. Hopefully refurbs aren't just old display models...

Decided to replace my early 2009 iMac since i wanted to play new modern games, and simply cant wait untill I get it. I ordered:

3.1GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
1TB Serial ATA Drive
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5
APPLE MAGIC MOUSE-Z
Apple WL Kybd

Ordered the day after the launch, and says im getting it 18.may... So long to wait:(

Also just ordered 2x2GB RAM so i get a total of 8GB. Think that should do it for me :D

RAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!

Why can't I track?! Can anyone else track?! I need to know where it is at this very moment in time!!! Is it travelling through Kazakhstan? Is it in Germany? France?! ENGLAND?!!!!

Too much coffee =

Anyone else having problems accessing their account via the Apple store? I had a mesage this morning sayng they were updating their systems but now it just fails due to a 'technical problem'

The 81 number from Apple is their tracking number, it NOT a UPS number. As someone has just said the Apple store is off for upgrades. The actual tracking numbers will probably appear once the Stores backend gets going again.

btw I order:
With the following configuration:
• 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
• 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
• 2TB Serial ATA Drive
• AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5
• Apple Magic Mouse + Magic Trackpad
• Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad (British) & User's Guide (English)

I had an update email from Apple stating it was dispatched and due for delivery on the 12th. They are usually pretty good with dates so I will expect it no later than the 12th.

Hi I have been unable to use tracking since last night, so called apple this morning. They told me that it was down for regular maintenace but should have been bck up by now?

They did tell me that my imac was still in Cork, Ireland and is flying out today to join my other stuff in Leicestershire (their dispatch centre) then it will receive a proper realtime tracking number. Should receive that tonight!

So their original estimate of 12th May still looks on, I was hoping for earlier surprise :( as they did say it was shipped on the 6th)

I'm in the market for an iMac - should I wait for the Lion operating system to be released so my mac comes with Lion instead of getting it now and then paying to get the new OS when it gets released?

Honestly, I'd buy it now if I were you. Mac OS isn't that expensive to begin with as far as operating systems go, but mainly there's simply always going to be something to wait for, you know? In this business you're never going to be able to always stay ahead of the game, unless you have endless supplies of cash.

Then again, I seriously lack patience so I'm blinded by "must have now" syndrome.

Hi all,

Long time visitor of this forum which proved very helpful in my decision and persuasion of finally converting from a PC to a Mac!

I bought the base 21inch i3 model along with Aperture 3, MS Office and the extended AppleCare with student discount. I couldn't be happier with my purchase, I was so impressed with the service I received from the Apple guys on the phone and delivery was in no time at all.

Is there any 'golden' tips I need to know? I've had it for 8 weeks now so I'm getting to grips with it although I only use it for photo editing, MS Word and the internet so nothing too heavy. I have also bought a 1TB external hard drive running with time machine.

Anywho thats enough about me, just wanted to say howdy!:)

Sackboy

Hey, congrats on buying your 1st Mac I got mine about feb 2010 and never looked back.

got a textmessage from applestore today, saying my imac has been sent for delivery & it will arrive no-later then friday. So i'm happy i'll have it before the weekend :) (got the 27" 3.4GHz & protectionplan & some other stuff)

Haha I also have that same syndrome. I'm also "waiting" for the back to school free ipod deal. I decided about a month ago I was going to get an iMac (been rocking a black macbook since the fall of '06) but since I graduated University I decided to go with the iMac+ipad combo. I got my iPad last week, but since I decided to get the iMac, I wanted to "wait" for the new versions, now I'm waiting for the ipod deal and the new OS. You're right - I can never win haha.

I also just checked and didn't realize how cheap it was to buy a new OS when it comes out. Thanks for the tips - I'll try to pick one up this weekend.

I just bought the 'base' high-end 27" with the 2GB GPU. Planning to upgrade the RAM. :)
I think it's the better purchase in the long view. Mainly because of the GPU.

Not Yet Shipped

So, I ordered my new iMac BTO last Tuesday. Apple told me it would ship in 2-4 business days.
I'm just wondering if there were others here waiting for their iMac to actually ship still?
Would today not mark the end of day 4?

And what happens if they don't ship it out today? Will they change the expected day I should receive it? Or will they change the shipping method, even though I didn't select two day shipping, so as to get the iMac to me in the time they originally told me?

Thanks a lot.

Just placed an order for the high-end 27" iMac with AppleCare and an Epson Stylus NX420 All-in-One Printer. I kept the base configuration but opted for the Magic Trackpad since I already have a Logitech G9x gaming mouse.

Through my corporate discount, I got the iMac for $1879 and AppleCare for $149 so the $140 in savings pretty much covered AppleCare. I get the printer for free with the Apple rebate though I do have to cover $8.52 in tax. Wish I could purchase one tax free from Amazon but I live in New York.

Don't think I could have done any better. I don't have the patience to wait for Lion and since this is my first iMac, I figured I should learn the ins and outs of Snow Leopard. Those who are still in school are lucky to get such a great deal in the summer (OS X Lion, free iPod touch, free printer).
