I just purchased my first ever iMac yesterday and am brand new to the forum as well. I am very excited and also pretty nervous to use it since I dont know anything about Macs really.
I ordered a 27" i7 3.4 with 2TB HDD and 2gb video card. Cant wait to get it.

Slight? Hardly. The UIs are similar, yes... but the internals are radically different. Then again, knowing the internal differences matters most to programmers.Wow definetly jumping in with both feet for your first mac! You wont be dissapointed, I did the same thing 3 yrs ago and was glad I went for the top iMac at the time.
Just ordered the same spec as you just with a 1TB HDD instead. My current iMac will be going to my cousin who is just as excited about getting his first mac.
My advice to you if you've never really used macs, is to visit a nearby apple store, as they are always doing basic presentations, which will show you the slight differences between the Windows & Mac Operating Systems

You have the added extra leg getting over the small issue of the Irish Sea
I'm only in Leeds so only a quick trip up the M1.
Any money it started the journey in Cork!
I am trying to decide if I wanna do boot camp and put on windows 7 or not. I have a tuning program for my car that cant run on Mac OS. I could just keep it on my laptop that im keeping but would be nice to have it on the new Mac. Just dont know if its worth it to put windows on the Mac and I was told you can still get viruses on the windows side as well.
Ordered this morning:
27" iMac
3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SRAM - 2x2GB
1TB Serial ATA Drive
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5
Was thinking of getting a SSD with it but I think I'll rather get a thunderbolt drive and having it now rather than in 6 weeks.
Already super excited for it![]()
