Hope I'm not dissappointed when I unwrap my present.

Having previously been an avid PC supporter, mocking all those who supported Apple and mocking the iPhone when it was originally released, I've now purchase my third apple product, my first iMac!

• 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
• 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
• 1TB Serial ATA Drive + 256GB Solid State Drive
• AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5
• Apple Magic Mouse
• Apple Wireless Keyboard

Ordered on the 7th, delivery estimate 14-18th July.

Still no progress on order status though I can no longer cancel the order!

Truly caught the Apple bug :D

Actually previous post should read 4th Apple product, forgot about my trusty old iPhone 3G (a phone I also mocked in an O2 shop, 2 weeks later I owned one and I assume that's when i caught the disease :) ).

I know exactly where you're coming from.

Shouldn't you be in bed waiting for Santa?

Good question...

;) Not "so good" answer there ... just kidding :)

BTW, my IMAC will arrive TODAY !!! Still confused if any other things that I need to check beside the yellow tint issue to make sure that my IMAC meets the standard quality ... really appreciate if any bros can help me :)

Just bought my first iMac. [Had MacBook's before, so I'm not new to Mac, just getting rid of my horrible Windows machine for this badboy!]

27 inch iMac
2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
16GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM
1TB Serial ATA Drive
AMD RadeonHD 6770M 512MB GDDR5

Got shipping confirmation this morning, tracked on TNT and it says PLEASE CALL. That can't be a good

I got a refurb 2011 i7. Supposed to deliver to my work tomorrow (Saturday). If I knew if was going to deliver Saturday I would have shipped it to my home address.

Anyone else have experience with FedEx Home Delivery or know what time they usually show up? Looks like I'm working this weekend.

It's arrived! All set up now, so far very impressed. The screen's huge though, that and the mouse is taking some getting used to.

Why didn't I choose mac earlier... over the moon with it. Now going to try out some software and see how well I can adapt.

iMac step over the universe, eh? :D

Congrats on your purchase. Well your table seems cramped, but if you have the space, I really suggest you get yourself a pair of external speaker. The internal one is puny, like HDTV internal speaker, a bit of bass, few treble here and there, may sounds just okay but make you asked for more :D

This is just its temporary home whilst I get used to it, will soon be transported into the studio where it has much more space.

Just got it!

Just bought it to add to my collection of Apple tech:

2011 iMac 27" 3.1GHz Core i5
additional 8GB Kingston memory coming from newegg
Wall mount coming from monoprice

CAN'T WAIT!! :D:apple:

Here goes i've only ever used Windows but have admired Mac's since i first saw them.So today i took the plunge and ordered a
27-inch:
2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
2560 x 1440 resolution
4GB (two 2GB) memory
1TB hard drive1
AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 512MB

Just got to find a big enough desk now :D

Just got my 27 and there's a hair under the screen.

Tech support didn't do anything for me and the guy even suggested I open it myself which I don't think is actually something they are supposed to do?!

Pretty bad experience overall.

Long time PC user - new 27in

About a month ago now, I bought a new iMac :apple: after a lifetime of being a PC user. I had already bought my wife a 20" iMac in hopes of making things like email, pictures, etc., easier for her (she is not very computer literate). She's had her's for over a year and after playing around with hers, I decided to go with one for myself when my Dell HD finally crashed about a months ago. Heres what I got:

27-inch:
2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
2560 x 1440 resolution
4GB (two 2GB) memory
1TB (Western Digital) hard drive
AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 512MB

I struggled with whether to upgrade the memory when I bought it, but glad I didn't. I've read on here how easy it is to upgrade to 12GB, which is what I plan to do once I feel I need more memory.

I also bought a Time Capsule which we both use as a backup device. In addition, I bought a fireproof 2TB ioSafe Hard Drive for periodic "safe" backups (i.e, in case the house burns down). By the way, one of the ioSafe reviews on there is mine.

Since I have a ton of PC software that I'm not keen on tossing out, I also bought Win-7 and installed under Bootcamp (very easy process). Now, simply by holding the Option key on power-up, I can select Win7 or Mac OS. Win-7 runs like lightening on this iMac!

Before I purchased, I struggled over which version to get (i5, i7, how much memory, etc) but think for what I use my computer for, the entry-level i5 will keep me happy for a very long time, especially after I upgrade to 12GB memory. I opted for the entry-level vid card also as I'm not a big gammer, although MS Flight Simulator runs very nicely on this machine (much better than my previous PC for sure) and I've had zero issues streaming videos from Hulu and Netfllix.

I have learned a bit about the iMac by playing with my wife's, but I know that I still have a lot to learn. Glad I found this forum - seems like a great place to discuss and learn about my new iMac.

Dear mother of lord!

I just spent the most money ever on a computer yesterday. Not to mention more than my last 3 PCs combined!

But... here's the payoff:

iMac 27"
i7 3.4Ghz
16 Gigs RAM
2TB + 256SSD
AMD 6970M 2Gig

I'm soon to be a happy 1st time Mac owner! Arrives Thursday! (hopefully). Interesting buying experience. First, I stumbled on an EPP site via google. A bit cheaper prices, so I saved around $200. Then I called Apple after making the order to bump up the Radeon to 2 Gigs from 1GB (why skimp right?). He said the modification to the order will cause an additional shipping delay of 2-4 business days, so he upgraded my shipping to expedited at no charge! My system is arriving even earlier than before. I also mentioned the shipping time for my "free" $99 printer was mid September so it's cutting it close for the rebate deadline. He agreed and knocked off $150 off my iMac *and* I'm still eligible for the $100 rebate on the printer when it comes. (Go Apple!) Hey, for a $3000 system every bit helps!

Looking forward to Lion and integrating my iPhone and iPad. Also selling my windows PC. Good riddance! I'm in with both feet now...

Cheers!

ps. Is it thursday yet???

Congrats but the biggest money saver would have been the $600 on upgrading from 4GB to 16GB RAM. You could have purchased 8GB (for a total of 12GB) for around $85 and it takes less than 5 minutes to install them.

And the difference from 12GB to 16GB is negligible because no one needs 16GB or even 12GB. Most people have a hard time fully using all 8GB.

You might want to thoroughly inspect the screen and housing. Somewhere in this forum one guy found he had a small dent that he missed seeing when unpacking.

To be honest, that's exactly what I did. In preparation of buying the system I bought some GSKILL SO-DIMMs (16 gigs) from newegg the same day :) $600 bucks for 16gigs raised a red flag so I did some googling.

How many years do you think I'll get out of this system? Do you guys spend $3000 every few years or so? For my soon to be sold PC, I usually upgraded the motherboard / cpu / ram every 18 months for ~$700.

Also, I was disappointed to find out I can't plug in my xbox to the iMac without some $200 converter. Boo.

I'd say 3/4 years it'll last you

Placed my order for an iMac, iPad & iPod last night, and I woke to find an e-mail telling me that the custom-engraved iPod left China this morning and will be at my house in the eastern U.S. — courtesy of standard shipping — by Friday.

Sometimes, I still am really amazed at how small the world has become.
