Finally jumped ship after nearly 20 years of Windows use and latterly too much frustration.

So I brought home over the weekend a stock MC813, and it has been a revelation! I thought the 27" screen would dominate the desk in the guest bedroom, but you what it looks stunning! Purchased through work for £1157.00 at cost + VAT, to make it even more tempting.

Probably going to upgrade the RAM in due course, but am pleasantly surprised at how quickly it can chew through HD video files from my Sony TG3camcorder.

This is going to be a revelation, but have so much to learn. :D

Ordered a new 27" iMac with 3.4Ghz i7, 16GB RAM, 1TB HD and 1GB 6970M graphics the other day. (or really 4GB. I have 4x4GB at home to replace the stock 2x2GB with when it arrives).

Will replace my old 24" C2D 2.4GHz iMac (Mid 2007).

Hopefully it will keep me happy as long as the old one has.

Glad you liked it. I'm extremely happy with the speakers. For the first 34 days, I thought they were ok but had no real punch to them.....then I realized that there is a bass control know at the back of the woofer. :p Now they vibrate the heck out of my desk. They are incredible! You can't see it in the pic but I have them hooked up to an Airport Express (under the desk) so I can use Airplay from my iPhone, iPad or iMac to the speakers no matter where I am in my apartment. I have the (almost free) HP all-in-one printer hooked up the same way. It all works beyond my expectations. You're gonna love the 27"er with the keyboard and trackpad. As you can see, I also got the Magic Mouse but it was a waste. I never use it and when I do, find the tracking too slow for use with the 27"er. Note that you really need to get the wireless keyboard and not the wired w/ numeric keypad. The wired model is not the same length as the wired (not talking width here but front to back). So with the wired, it looks awkward while it fits together perfectly with the wireless. I will be getting a Twelve South MagicWand soon to tie the two together.

I plan on getting a Time Capsule which will sit on the desk will the airplay with he printer and iPad/iPhone & speakers work?

As far as I know, the Time Capsule doesn't have a 3.5mm audio jack which is needed for the Soundsticks speakers. You would need speakers that connect via USB but doing that eliminates the one USB port that is usable on the Time Capsule. The only solution, if you have your heart set on a Time Capsule, is to purchase an Airport Express as an extender to your existing wireless. You could hook up the speakers to the AE and have the printer attached to the TC. There may be another solution I'm not thinking of (besides the obvious of not getting a Time Capsule but getting an Airport Express/Extreme instead). If there is another solution, I invite anyone else reading this to post it.

Just received the 3.4 GHz i7 27" iMac the mail. 256SSD + 2TB HD, 16GB RAM, 2GB VRAM.

This is one sweet machine! I moved the iTunes library to the 2TB drive, just installing some apps now.

Well, just got my refurb 2011 3.1 Core i5 today. Guess who's got yellow tint. ME! Starting the return process...

my i7, 2tb 27' imac arrived earlier this week and its very fast. I've been using a 08 Mac Pro and this feels 10x faster. Just getting around to installing everything, opted to pass migration assistant so its all clean.

Also just installed 16gb of ram :)

FedEx brought my 2.7GHz 27" iMac this morning, and it's like Christmas in July. I didn't even have time to get the iMac box out of the brown shipping box before UPS was at the door, handing over my new iPad 2 ... (the iPod Nano, Adobe CS software and education bonus $100 gift card from the same July 10 order had arrived in individual shipments throughout the week; I'm still waiting on the iPad cover, though.)

The iPad left China on July 13. It wasn't expected to be arrive here in Pittsburgh until July 19 — it's always nice to get international delivery so promptly. It's my wife's, and the prospect of having my new iMac (and effectively abandoning her) three days sooner than she got it had me feeling a little nervous. UPS really helped us avoided some marital strife by delivering early!

Anyway, after eight years of accumulating files on my old G4 iMac, I've opted to not do a wholesale migration to the new Mac. I'm following the guidelines that Ars Technica published just earlier this week: http://arstechnica.com/apple/guides...rt-with-lion-migrating-without-assistance.ars

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to play with the new toys ...

Another ship jumper :) Ordered a 27" Imac i7 3.4Ghz 4GB RAM, (will buy an extra 8GB Crucial Ram to make 12GB) 1TB HD and 1GB 6970M Graphics on Friday.
Expected delivery 25th July.......Why does that seem a long way off :rolleyes::)

Jumping in with a maxed out i7 model (minus SSD). Got the shipping notice an hour ago! :D

This is my first Mac desktop since a Sawtooth Powermac. Should be sweet. :)

Just ordered a refubrished base 27" for $1439. Sold my late 2009 27" i5 for $1550 2 months ago so it feels like I upgraded for free :)

Also picked up 8gb of ram to bump it up to 12gb.

Congrats from another 20+ year Windows user. I've had my iMac 21.5" a month and was fortunate to get a great screen - no tint issues that you read about in that thread.

I'm easing into it. Still have an HP notebook and am gradually transferring the data. The wireless keyboard navigation takes some time, as does finding and managing the equivalent of the Control Panel.

Liking the iMac more and more every day.//

Hey can you share the condition of the iMac when you receive it. I'm looking into ordering my first iMac and was considering ordering refurbished to save a few bucks....thanks in advanced.

Ok will do, should be here Friday or Saturday. A few months ago I did order a refurbished iPad 1 and it was in perfect shape. This will be my first refurbished iMac so hoping its just as good!

Got my new Imac 27' with 8gig ram about 2 weeks ago, thoroughly enjoying it, though still getting used to some of the quirks (not in a bad way) of the OS.

For example, I no longer browse through folders anymore. Want a file, just search for it in the terminal! :D However, folder/file management seems a little confusing.

The keyboard protector makes it a little hard to type accurately though.

Funny, I would have complained about buying a normal CPU at 1/2 the price, yet now think nothing of splurging 2.7k on a new imac (the price in my country). :p

Cheap iMac

Just bought my first iMac this weekend at a garage sale. The owner had it in a box with all kinds of stuff (wireless keyboards, mice, software, etc). I offered $100 and took it home and, thankfullly, I've already made that back selling off some stuff I didn't want (including a sealed copy of Leopard went for $125...).

It's a 20", C2D 2.16 with a whopping 1GB of RAM. I'm upgrading it to 3GB but I'm actually very impressed with Snow Leopard's memory management. I really can't believe this is running with the same amount of ram as an iPad (2) and can run iTunes, Mail, and multi-tabbed Safari at the same time (with Youtube videos to boot!).

Here's a snap.

Mine is a 27" 3.4 i7 1tb + 256 SSD It just said prepared for shipment im hoping it ships sometime today.
