I ordered mine LATE Saturday. Now it's on the truck.....Sitting by the window, waiting waiting. Ahhhhhhh I'm so excited!!!

When it arrives my house will be fully Applified, all pc products out the window. Ha no pun intended.

Hey guys!

I've been a PC user for almost two decades and like most my experience with Mac OS was prior to the sexiness that is OS 10.x.x so my overall experience was never good and like most PC users I spouted the traditional fanboy phrases about what Mac users were like, what kind of products Apple built their hardware/software for and in general was a jerk.

A few weeks ago my PC died after many years of World of Warcraft, SETI @Home and Photoshop use my loyal PC gave out and died throughly. So with nothing left to lose (or quite frankly to gain) I set out and bought the cheapest thing I could find on Craigslist which ironically was a late 2007 iMac.

To say that I was floored with ease of use, the build quality and the awesome sleep mode is an under statement. So flash forward to today and I went into the Apple store to fix up my iPhone 4 and saw the 2011 model sitting there on the shelf - I knew I had to have her. So rather than buy one that might be useless in two years I decided on the following overkill monster:

3.4ghz 16 gigs of RAM 2TB drive with SSD drive and 2GB ATI Card. I was a PC but as of today, I am definitely a friggan mac!

Today I received my new imac. I got 27" 2.8 i5 upgraded to 8 gigs of ram. I finally decided up get a desktop after my powerbook G4 finally died on me. I ordered from B&H photo (I highly recommend! Free shipping, no tax!)

After 4 years it's time to upgrade from my 13" MacBook black, so last week I pulled the pin on a 27" iMac, standard 2.7Ghz/4Gb/1Tb with Magic Trackpad, Apple Care (only £38 with student discount) and an HP Wireless printer with AirPlay (£free with the current £70 printer rebate).

Really hope it comes with the new Lion keyboard and Lion pre installed. If not I can do a clean install but I will be trying my luck with Apple to have the keyboard exchanged for the new type, may as well!

Currently in transit, should be here soon :)

So I did it!

My 27" 3.4ghz Core i7, 4GB Ram, 1 TB Hard Drive, AMD Radeon 6970 2GB VRAM iMac shall be here by the end of the week.

Fingers crossed there will be no display issues. :D

Hows the display? Any yellowing or discoloration ?

New 27" iMac

Got the new 27" iMac stock i5 with 6770. Cried a little when I saw how much I paid, but loving the upgrade from my old 24"

Wondering if I should have just gotten a refurb 3.1ghz /6970 now. Oh well. Won't be playing ANY games.

If you are not gaming or even light gaming, the 2.7 is better than the 3.1. While you don't get the beefier graphics card, the 2.7 is actually faster at some common tasks over the 3.1 b/c of turboboost. And the heat dissipation is much lower. 65w vs 95w. I think you'll be happy.

Today i bit the bullet and ordered a 27" 3.4 ghz i7 and upgraded the graphics card to 2gb! Super excited and cant wait to Wednesday when it comes in! My FIRST mac ! Been using windows for over 10yrs and finally making the switch

Does the 3.1 not have turbo boost?

EDIT:Nevermind, I checked out all the specs.

The 2.7 turbo boosts to 3.7 while the 3.1 goes to 3.4. The 3.1 will perform better under full load and does come with the 6970 GPU. But in my opinion and use, the lower power/heat/noise, better performance in some tasks of the 2.7, etc, make it the better buy. I am opting to save the $300 and go with the base model 27" but then splurge on the SSD + HDD combo. While the $600 upcharge is steep, running the OS and Apps and some files off the SSD is money better spent. /end opinion.

It's a great purchase, you won't be disappointed!

I am a little nervous about doing the yellow screen test and finding out i have a bad screen. Kind of diminishes the excitement a little bit.

I'm waiting for mine, and it seems that a lot of people have screens that are just fine :) Honestly, a lot of these pics you see are with 50% brightness in pitch black darkness with a grey/white screen on, it's honestly not as bad as you think.

A sign of relief! Thanks. Be sure to post up when you get it. I want to know how you make out with yours

Finally got it :D

And here it is sitting next to my old Windows PC, but when I say old, I mean, about 1 and half years old. I just wanted to make a complete switch to Mac.

Did it come with Lion ?

Ordered my refurb 27" i5 3.1 on July 31st and the behemoth finally arrived this afternoon. My very first iMac, though I've been using a MacBook as secondary computer for past 2 years. So far I'm quite happy with it. (my eyes will need some time adjusting from a 22")

It did come with Lion installed, which I wasn't expecting at all.

I do have a question though regarding HD. I have the Western Digital (WD1001FALS), is that a good thing? I've read some issues with the Seagate here in forums. Now I do notice that the hard drive does make a bit of noise when data is being accessed (especially in a quiet room). Seeing how this is my first iMac, is that normal? Or should you not be able to even hear it at all? Perhaps I had imagined that it'd be super quiet.

Thanks!

That's great I ordered a 21.5" i5 and its prepared for shipment !! Hoping it comes with lion :)
