Hopefully it will come sooner then expected :p

If any of you ordered in the uk how long did it take for yours to arrive ?

Did it come sooner then the date they gave you ?

Cant wait to get it :)

Congrats and enjoy!

New 2011 iMac 27" i7 On Its Way

Just received my dispatch invoice saying my new iMac [which I've separately purchased an extra 12GB of RAM for and already have] with an expected delivery of the 17th August.

Just wondering why a dispatch from Ireland to Yorkshire is taking a whole week to arrive?

Must be really going the long way around!

I've figured out that Apple set that date just in case it takes a day or so longer than expected. For example a few people here have had their orders arrive a few days before expected, yet some have seen their orders sit in one place for 2-4 days (how frustrating!).

On topic, I've just ordered my first ever mac computer! Base 27" 2011 iMac. will be boosting the RAM to 8 or 12GB myself next month. I expect to post here about a long delivery time, ha. Are orders to the UK shipped from China or Ireland? My order isn't BTO.

Do new iMacs not come with Lion preinstalled? I ordered mine on August 9, and received it yesterday, the old box, with Snow Leopard 10.6.7. When I called Apple, they said that iMacs "don't" come with Lion, and that I would need to go via the Up-to-date program.

Here's the kicker, my machine's serial number is not recognized, and I did go via the longer route. But it seems that this process takes forever. In any case, am hosed.

I ordered my iMac on the 19th July and received it on the 25th with Lion preinstalled. I ordered a 27" i7 with a 2TB hard drive and from what I have read most who purchased stock iMacs are still getting Snow Leopard while those ordering upgrades are getting Lion.
I am not sure if location makes any difference, I am in Australia and my iMac was shipped from China.

Makes sense. I did get a stock iMac i5, though I have upgraded the memory to 16GB (for ~ 80$ for matched pairs).

Enjoy your new iMac m8.

Ordered:
27" 2.7 i5
4GB RAM
256GB SSD + 1TB HDD
TrackPad & Wireless KB
Apple VESA Mount

Scheduled to arrive Tues Aug 16th!
Ordered OWC 8GB RAM (2x4GB).

Shipped from CA so I guess I am getting a USA built machine. Expect it will have Lion on it at this point, especially considering the SSD upgrade.

Still have to decide on a wall mount option.
Looking at Premier AM50-B, Innovative 7500-HD, Humanscale M8. But looking for another option too before I decide. No huge rush there.

Was thinking about getting a new Mac mini... but I ended up buying a base model 21.5" iMac today.

The screen is perfect, just gorgeous - it's very even with no dead/stuck pixels at all, and none of the yellowing I've read about. And wow (no surprise, but still wow...) it is so much faster and responsive than my Rev A dual 2.0 GHz Power Mac from 2003.

I bought it at our campus computer store and it came with Snow Leopard - not that I don't like Lion, I've used it and I don't mind it, but I'll upgrade later on. Maybe when Lion goes to 10.7.1 or higher.

I got the $100 Apple back-to-school certificate, a free Lion upgrade (I don't know if it has an expiry date), and the store also gave me a $100 gift certificate that I can use for anything I want.

Me happy. :D

I'll max out the RAM at the end of the month.

I'll clean up the old G5 and put it back in its original packaging, and put it away in the basement this weekend. So long old friend, and thanks for eight years of flawless service...

I don't really get why many people want their new Mac comes with Lion. Yes, it's the latest, but surely not the greatest. I don't know if you already own a retail copy of SL which can be installed on any intel Mac or not. But truly, if you don't .. it's better to stick with Mac that comes with Snow Leopard DVD, and the up-to-date free upgrade is still valid. So, I don't see any good reason for particularly waiting on Mac that packaged with Lion (i.e no restore DVD included) while you can grab Snow Leopard and still have Lion for free!!

Some people has been very sorry about getting new Mac with Lion, having excessive heat problems, Flash issues, random freeze. Maybe not all, but more issues than current Snow Leopard for sure. You just can't switch back once you get Mac come with Lion preinstalled. And Apple wouldn't give you the good ol' Snow Leopard restore DVD even when you beg for it.

Well I've stopped using Apple's site for tracking and instead am using UPS' using the same number, and according to their site it arrived in Tamworth at 6:51pm on the 12th, and left Tamworth at 1:12am on the 13th [today]. Yet the delivery date is stating Monday 15th... although I'm guessing that could be changing to today by the looks of it already being driven across England?

EDIT: After looking at depo times etc I've realised UPS don't do deliveries on Saturdays, which in this day and age is really surprising. Had knocking at 9:30 getting excited only to discover it was Doctor Who Monopoly... *scowls*...

Ah, yeah it makes sense why it's the 15th, due to no deliveries over the weekend.

Ordered my new iMac on August 10, it arrived August 12

Specs:
27"
3.4 GHz i7
4GB ram (16 GB from Crucial should be here on Monday, saved $$$)
256 GB SSD + 1TB
2 GB graphics memory

Lion came pre-installed. It's taking some getting used to but I think I will end up liking it.

Man this sucker is fast! Compared to my old 2.33 Macbook Pro, a 20-minute HD movie export from iMovie used to take like 12 hours, now is < 30 minutes. Other stuff feels much faster as well, games obviously too.

I'm definitely a happy camper so far!

must say i have all my software installed and I am extremely satisfied. I am a designer so Photoshop is amazing and lightroom is also a huge plus on the 27" screen. Satisfied iMac customer

Imac w/ Lion - should it come with restore DVD?

Hi, just want to check before I ring Apple care and potentially make a fool of myself :) Ive just received an Apple refurb iMac i5 27" It came with Lion installed already and seems to be the new version with the Lion Keyboard. However, in the box there are no restore DVD's etc. Should it have them?

Cheers

John.

Lion was never released on a DVD so, likely, it won't be sent with one. It's why I bought Lion for my macbook and created a disk before I upgraded to my iMac.

Ordered mine on Saturday, lousy apple not processing on the weekend, I want it now :(

Some nice specs though. Hopefully I don't have any screen problems I've been reading about because I live 9 hours away from the nearest apple store.

Specs are in my sig; the extra 4GB or RAM I ordered from macsales because I'd rather pay 35 bucks for RAM and install it myself rather then spending 180 to get it built in.
