Delivered!!! Delivered!!! Delivered!!! Delivered!!!

Mine has been delivered! w00000000t! Will be in iMac heaven tonight. :D

Wow. I think I'm speechless. Congrats. But really, like 7 or 8 posts on 1 thread page. I don't mean to be mean or burst your bubble, I know you are excited, but gain a little perspective. It's a computer. I'll probably get flamed for this. :/

What I can't get excited about a computer? :p

I'm a geek for crying out loud. :D ;)

Me too pretty much.
And I didn't say that.
I just thought it was a bit excessive. This is a thread for people to share what they ordered, got, etc. A post what you ordered maybe. Another when you got it. But like I said I thought it was a bit excessive. I got my 27" i5 Tues, finally opened the box at midnight last night, checked the screen for dead pixels, ran the 10.7.1 update. Won't even have the time to transfer data for another week or two. Still excited, just no time. So it is back in the box.

Enjoy! Really. I really wasn't trying to rain on your parade.

Roland - I gotcha on that one. I was trying to add a light humorous tone to my words but we all know how that goes down online. As someone that can type 100+ words per minute it's relatively easy for me to make quite a few posts like that in that time frame. :D

Congrats on the new acquisition sir! :D

Finally - my first Mac :)

So I've been a reader on macrumors for a couple of years now - can't believe it took me so long to sign up..

Anyway, yesterday I received my new 27" iMac (mid 2011) with the following specs:

3,1GHz i5
4GB RAM (Upgraded to 12GB)
6970M 1GB
2 TB HD (Seagate - dead silent btw)
Assembled in China

So far I am very pleased with it, although I haven't been doing anything intensive on it yet.

Bad Smell

Hi,
I got a 27" refurb back in June and I love it. However It's got a bad smell coming out of it after 10 min of use. It's almost like BO, this sounds kind of funny but has anyone experience this?
Thanks,

Something's cooking in there,I would call apple about this. Never encountered this problem with a mac but many times with my windows pc from 13 years ago.

Ps My windows pc's motherboard overheated and went with some good fireworks dead. It gave me at least something to enjoy watching

Ordered a 27 inch iMac through my job and the order was placed Thursday to apple... Thursday night I got the confirmation and shipping email and the comp was at my job Friday morning for pickup ... Pissed i was off Friday and out of town. I have to wait til Monday to pick it up. I have off all week so it should be a great one

Usually i cant be bothered with these kind of threads; buuuut I am bored so I'll share with ya..

Ordered a 27" i7 3.4ghz with the 256Gb SSD iMac on thursday with the wired keyb and trackpad instead of the wireless and mouse. I love my Logitech S530 kb & mouse so the new alu wired is for my linux box and the trackpad will probably end up mistaken for a coaster..... ;)

Have already received the 8Gb kit from crucial that I ordered on the same day to make the new beastie 12Gb (and wow less than £50 delivered for the kit - tried hard to justify to myself getting two of em but just couldn't lol).

I did tKe the apple care option too (student so its pretty cheap).

One interesting thing occured during my call to order it; asked about restore disk etc and was told NADA as its shipping with Lion, and was also told if I were to install my Snow Kitty on its internal drive then it would invalidate my warranty! Running windows is ok, or using an external disk for Snowleopard but not the internal? Pretty sure that BS...

Anyways thats my iMac story.....

Now where the hell is that Domino's guy.....?

Finally ordered my first mac - 27" base i5 model. Ordered with the trackpad as I already have a spare mouse. Really exited for it to arrive! Then wait for the order status to change to "posted" is excruciating! Argh!

Any idea how long it takes for deliveries to arrive in the UK? Do they ship from a warehouse in UK/Ireland or from overseas? First order directly from apple so no idea what to expect!

Yeah, I see that however I know a few people get their deliveries sooner than expected :) just wondering how long it took overall for people.

Mine was shipped Thursday night and arrived at my job Friday morning. I wasn't in town to pick it up so I was going to pick it up today(Monday) and I get an email that the building my 27 inch iMac is sitting in was flooded last night so no one could get in... Yea my comp could be sitting in 2 feet of water ... Awesome!!

Ah man that sucks! Do you live in the UK?

Ordered this on Monday (22nd):

• 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
• 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
• 1TB Serial ATA Drive
• AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5
• Apple Magic Mouse + Magic Trackpad
• Apple Battery Charger
• Apple Wireless Keyboard (British) & User's Guide (English)
• Accessory Kit

I have another 8GB of RAM sitting here for it when it comes, and have many terabytes of network volumes in case I run out of space on the iMac.

I ordered it at 9:50am on Monday, they are saying 3 Business days (from when I ordered it) to dispatch, and estimated delivery next Wednesday. Though, I do suspect the estimated delivery is the safe, maximum time it would take to get here, type of thing.

People here have experience with BTO Macs, so, anyone have any experience with the accuracy of these shipping estimates?

Yes... If it invalidated your warranty, then my new iMac was delivered with a voided warranty. Apple Genius tell you that? You can run any system on it that was designed to run intel chips.

Mine also says next wednesday for delivery (order status is still "processing") and it isn't BTO. I hope to receive mine sooner, was hoping it would arrive this Friday but that certainly seems like a long shot.

Nope central jersey bro.. Got the call from my purchasing office at work that my iMac was a destroyed in the flood... They are re ordering today or tomorrow because of the earthquake.. Awesome! :/

Hi
I'm new to the forum. My very first iMac is on it's way. I'm getting a refurbished 27" 3.1ghz, AMD Radeon HD 6970M with 1GB.

It's being shipped from Rancho Cordova, CA.

I can't wait to play with my new toy.

*gives the middle finger to PC*

Well mine (ordered at 1930 last Thursday) was showing friday delivery est and this morning it left on a UPS van to be delivered today! Yippeeee

(UK) :)

Just called up Apple just to check if, because I ordered early Monday - if that would count as one of those 3 business days, he said it did and then checked my order.

He said it is currently in preparation for shipping and should be shipped out today, as expected, with an updated estimated delivery.
