Yay! After two PPC Macs (PowerMac G4 and iMac G5) I have bought myself an Aluminum iMac, which is my very first Intel Mac.
Ahh, my order wasn't updated with a UPS tracking number overnight, not sure why or how? Maybe mine had to travel further than yours to merge Qwaf?
Anyone received their UPS tracking number and had it delivered on the same day here? I can imagine my machine just sitting in a wharehouse about 3 miles from my house for 3 days.

Very disappointing from a company the size of UPS, estimated delivery date and UPS' "to be delivered by" have been removed no idea when I'll see it now
That is absolute BS! Have you rang UPS?
In other news I just got an email welcoming me to AppleCare with my iMacs serial number. Such a tease!

Not sure its worth it at this point. Not out for delivery by this time means today isn't happening no matter how well any call might go and Monday is bank holiday so its not as if I could speed up the process.
Might be better off emailing Apple and politely expressing my disappointment, perhaps UPS might actually improve things in future if large customers get on to them

I mean would it be possible for you to collect it from them as last resort as they wont deliver to you?

nope not yet, still says "In Transit for Delivery" and haven't been given a UPS tracking number. iMac has been set up with the AppleCare I also ordered though. It's definitely somewhere!
Edit: mines literally just been updated to "In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly." shall I be expecting a UPS tracking number soon?

iMac is in Tamworth, got UPS number and it'll be here Tuesday! Now to make plans over the weekend so it goes faster!

Bought a 20" 2008 iMac 2.4GHz yesterday off eBay for £430. I've also ordered 4GB of RAM for it and a Magic Mouse (already got the bluetooth keyboard the other day). I'll also probably be swapping in my 1TB hard drive to replace the 250GB drive, but it looks like quite a lot of work. Either way, should be a nice upgrade to the Powermac G5 I just sold.

Back from Leeds festival.
My BTO Mac was shipped superfast. (ordered 24th, shipped 26th), I can't find a tracking number though and it's using "syncreon technology" rather than UPS? Never even heard of them.
Guessing I'll get a UPS number once its in the UK and this syncreon company are simply shipping it from China.
Anybody know?

I'm pretty certain syncreon are used to bring it to the uk, you'll get a UPS tracking number when it's left the place it's going to in the uk
My tracking number wasn't on the apple site itself, had to click a link which showed a blank White page with black writing on it. Eventually it showed a UPS tracking number.

Got my transit email now, woot. Says I need to wait up to 3 working days until I get my tracking number though.
Hope they use UPS, the UPS driver for this area is something like a legend as he is the spitting image of Elvis Presley, been doing this area for about 6 years now haha
He even has his own facebook group. haha.

I know Qwaf got his UPS tracking number only an hour after he had the In Transit status. Mine took 12 hours, so yours can be anywhere inbetween lol. We have the same UPS driver for our area, I told him last week he can expect to deliver a heavy package this week and he just sighed.
Mine actually arrived yesterday at 16.30, couldn't believe they'd not deliver on a Friday because its a remote area but then turn up on a bank holiday lol

Hmm, my UPS tracking thing is interesting. I have two items (imac + education voucher), seems that my education voucher will be coming tomorrow but not the iMac! The iMac is on "order processed" and the voucher on scheduled delivery.
Pretty weird considering Apple said it was merge in transit.

Mine was the opposite, even though both had the same delivery date the education voucher package was updated to "out for delivery" 10 minutes before both of them arrived. Some people do receive the voucher a day before but I'd be confident that both will arrive at the same time.
Yeah, looks like both packages have been merged now. Claims it's out for delivery on the scanning tracker but the green bar still says 'in transit' so i'm sceptical. Would be nice to get it today.
