Going to buy a 21,5" iMac 2011 this Saturday from an Apple Premium Reseller. It's going to be the baseline model and I'll take the Magic Trackpad instead of the mouse, because of the Lion gestures. Can't wait to get it. Only 3 days!

Why no expedited shipping?

Obviously 1 day vs 5 days doesn't really matter in the large, but why doesn't Apple offer expedited shipping for impatient folks like myself?

I'm waiting on a 256GB SSD, 3.4GHz refurb iMac. Shipped yesterday, and I have to wait until Wednesday next week! BTW I love Apple refurbs. You save 20% or more and get the same thing.

Got my iMac today. Absolutely love it. Transition to Mac OSX has been flawless, really not sure why some people claim that the learning curve is pretty steep.

Definitely recommend a mac to anyone. Hands down beats Windows. It just works, to go back to the old cliche.

The magic trackpad is great by the way, much better than the magicmouse I was using in the Apple store.

i tried the lion gestures on my macbook. For me with being right handed and carpal tunnel in my right wrist and hand using the gestures my arm, hand and wrist hurt like mad so i cant use the gestures. So i have to use mouse and my mouse with a mouse pad with wrist rest is my prefered method. i found ways with my ipad i could use it with my wrist but not for a touchpad.

Finally decided to stop worrying about possible new releases and ordered a 27" iMac, with the i7 and 2GB Vram. Decided to go with the least amount of RAM since Apple seems to be a tad expensive for that.

Perhaps it's a little on the over-kill side, but I prefer paying to much for a machine than to little and having it outdated in a year or two.

My brother will get my current computer, a last generation 21" white-plastic Intel imac.

Just ordered the 2011 iMac in my sig. Got all of that with AppleCare for $1625 of eBay. Should be here tomorrow. Upgrading from a 2009 3.06 C2D.

New iMac

A couple of weeks ago my Early 2008 Macbook Pro was involved in an unfortunate incident with a pint of Coca Cola. It died.

Insurance Company had it covered... Phew.

Thought it was time to upgrade to an iMac (Specs in Signature). :D

I decide to get my first Mac this week and picked up the iMac 27. I agree with everything you said. I lOVE the iMac. :D
I should have done this years ago.

I picked up my first mac from my local branch last week and oh my life it is the best thing in the world. I run a website and so I am at a computer nearly all the time, I have 5 pc's and just got an Iphone, fell in love with the Iphone so thought I would treat myself to a imac for when I am working at home.

My first day with the Imac was a little odd and I was wondering if I had done the right thing, I know my way around Windows and I work very quickly through programs. 1 week on and the mac is just brill, so reliable, quick and so so user friendly, I want all my desktops in the office to be macs now lol

I like going on forums, and this seems a nice community for mac users, I hope to stick around for a while and learn quite a bit :)

Got my refurb imac - quality control issues

Well I got my refurb iMac (27", 3.4GHz, 256GB SSD) and I have to say I'm surprised. I ordered it with 4GB of RAM, and it came with 8! Now, I suppose that's nothing to complain about, but having been under the impression that I would get what I paid for, I purchased 16GB of RAM ahead of time (from newegg). Now I've got to send half of it back!

The computer itself is really nice, though I do wish the 4:3 screen ratio was still around. This thing isn't a TV, it's a work space. I've donated my old 30" cinema display to my wife, and I'm waiting for a 27" Thunderbolt replacement.

Just picked up a brand new base imac. Have not turned it on yet but it looks beautiful. WIll upgrade to 8gm ram soon.

After playing with it; very nice... The trackpad works great with the imac. Any new imac owner tips?

Just ordered my refurbished 27'' 3.1GHz i5 and I'm going to manually upgrade it to 12GB of RAM myself when it arrives. RAM chips on standby. I'm using it mostly for video editing with FCP so I'm extremely excited. I have a short film to edit using Red One camera footage :)

My order will ship tomorrow (Friday). I'm in Chicago. When do you think I'll receive it? How long has it taken all you on average to receive your iMac after ordering? They say Sept 5, next Thursday, but I can't see it taking that long especially when I live in such an accessible area, Chicago, and 13 miles from the busiest airport in America.

I'm in NY and mine came from CA. It took 7 business days and 5000 UPS tracking refreshes.

Can't wait!

Been toying with buying an iMac for ages, had the cash sitting ready but couldn't quite justify replacing my trusty early '06 Mini CD....until now!

Just ordered a refurb 27" i7 3.4GHz iMac mid-2011, can't wait 'til it arrives on Tues or Weds next week. Exciting! Was intending to buy a new one and configure to i7, 2TB HDD and 2GB graphics, but saw one on refurb store with the i7 but standard 1TB HDD and 1GB graphics for £500 less than I was going to spend - no brainer...

Going to have a crack at upgrading the Mini to a C2D chip (already done 2GB and 1TB HDD) in order to install Lion and have a tinker with Lion Server - just because I can

Happy days! :D

how much was your system?

----------

you guys who are getting these ridiculously powered 27" systems with SSD plus hard drive and like 8gb to 12gb RAM what exactly do yo use this machine for? Im curious?

What about the guy who is ALSO getting the 27" ATD with the IMAC 27? whats up with that? Im curious

Just over a week ago I received my new refurb 21" iMac i5 w/1tb drive (spring 2011 model), it was $1269 i think?

I was nervous about all the talk about the yellow screen problems. At first I thought I had an issue, the screen appears slightly darker (maybe yellowish) towards the bottom, but then I realized that if I simply lowered my head, the part at the bottom of the screen looks more or less the same as the screen at the top. In other words it's more a viewing angle thing.

It doesn't bother me and the thing is so awesome in every other way that I don't care anyway.

Also, it came preloaded with lion. Near as I can tell I just got essentially a new computer for about 200 less current prices and am quite pleased.

I used my excess financial aid to purchase a 27" 2.93ghz i7 closeout model from 2010 for $1499 (no tax or shipping cost from macmall.com). I am ecstatic! First Mac, and it won't be here until Monday. I feel like I'm getting the room ready for a baby.

I ordered a new 60 inch TV as well but I'm waiting on the iMac mainly!

got a fully loaded imac 27" for office use. Along w/ an anti-glare screen film.:)

It's arrived

So it's arrived today
Spec as I ordered it showed 4Gb RAM - just checked 'About this Mac' - lo and behold it's running 8Gb - happy days!

Refurb 27" iMac mid-2011, i7 3.4GHz, 8Gb RAM 1TB, Lion pre-installed

Can't believe how massive it looks on my desk next to the 20" Dell widescreen monitor I use with my Mac Mini.

Much love!

:)

I was wondering were did you get your anti-glare screen film. I am guessing that you like it?

i got it from photodon, have been using it for my 24" iMac at home for years.
it's not perfect, pretty noisy. But way better than looking at a mirror (my seat by the window). i also use their hood, but save your money
u can DIY at home by using cardboard and clips.
Cheers!

Well, I can't believe how small my new 27" iMac looks next to my 30" cinema display. And, why oh why does Apple not make the 4:3 ratio anymore? Media consumer goobers have inherited the earth.

Got my 1st ever iMac 2.5ghz, 8GB ram a few days ago and i LOVE IT :D

Just received my new mac

well folks iv been using macs (family and work) since i was too small to see the screen and finally 20 years later I've got one of my own and man is it a beast. Decided to go for the BTO 27" (spec in signature...) the magic trackpad is far better than the magic mouse and IMHO if you are questioning which to go for definitely go for the trackpad with all the gestures in lion, magic mouse is too small a surface to use
(for my hands at least although fiancé doesn't seem to have any trouble with hers at work with her tiny hands)

If you want to use this new iMac for gaming through bootcamp be prepared for a little fiddling with graphics drivers and the catalyst control centre but the new 11.8b driver seems to work (don't get 11.6 the current version)

Begining to regret not getting the SSD aswell as the benchmarks seem to show a major performance increase (about 21%) over HDD but I already have more than enough power for everything but the most intensive gaming and even so I get 30FPS running crisis all settings max native resolution and (45fps with 1920 x 1200 res)

All in all I'm over the moon.. Now I just have to wait for a focal 2.1 system and a converter to run my xbox 360 and blu-ray as this is currently the most beautiful screen in my house.
