WRONG!! I was 1000!! LOL

But hey, were both getting the same iMac! Congrats!:D

I've got iMac

Yeah, not much news for others, but I'm excited to get back to a Mac since back in '95. There are things to get used to, but it's pretty cool and kids love it already. I love the fact that I could plug it and get going in a few mins. Everything is ready to go and even connecting to PC seems all there without me doing anything.

Only funny part is that I was lost what to do since I was expecting File Menu on the window while it's on the top menu bar. Silly me. :)

Just bought my first 27-inch iMac with the following spec :

2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
1TB Serial ATA Drive
AMD RadeonHD 6770M 512MB GDDR5

I also purchased 2x4GB of RAM from crucial to get the machine to 12 GB.

My previous computer was a 2008 20-inch iMac, so I'll probably need some time to get used to the screen real estate.

I'll enjoy setting up my new Mac, I can't wait. I'll also start using Aperture, so I'll have to migrate everything over there, but I want to do everything as clean as I can so that the new machine will be perfectly organized...

Just got mine

Just got my refurb 27" iMac I5 2.7 I ordered the one with 4gb or ram and a 1tb hard drive. It came with a 2TB hard drive and 8GB of ram?? Is this normal? There is a black pixel at the bottom of the screen that i can probably live with since i have the extras. If i take it to an apple store can they fix the screen does anyone know? I am really loving everything so far!!!!

Just ditched my 2011 i5 2.7 Mac mini w/AMD 6630.

Been PC/Windows for years (and C64 > Amiga before that) and after buying an iPad 2 in July, I decided I'd had enough of the PC upgrade roundabout (for gaming) and bought the mini.

Fast forward to 3 weeks ago and I'd had enough of the mini, but only from the point of view I found it a little slow and restrictive from what I'd came from (W7, quad core AMD, 8gb, SSD + mechanical, AMD4870).... I missed the "grunt" so to speak, so put the mini up for sale and bought this:

2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 4x2GB (upgraded to 4x2GB with spare sticks from mate's new iMac - score!)
1TB Serial ATA Drive
AMD RadeonHD 6770M 512MB GDDR5

Wow! The screen is something else, and although I've not got an SSD installed, there's a visible speed difference between the 5400 and 7200 drives. Much happier with the iMac, although I have to say the mini is still brilliant.

Possible new job where I'll be away from home through the week _might_ dictate a laptop, so there may be an MBA or MBP on the horizon, depending on location.

I did have a brief affair with the mini when they first came out, but purely for research purposes for work.... now I've come back to the Mac, it feels "Amiga" again! I do have to admit though that W7 on the machine I had was perfect - the SSD was lightning fast and I'd not reinstalled Windows in over a year since I got the SSD, as it "just worked".

I'm here for the long haul now though....

yes you can go up to 32GB. Apple just doesn't sell the modules for it but OWC does.

Just Got My Sexy New iMac! I SO EXCITE!!!

Well it's new to me anyway. Friend had a late 2007/early 2008 24" iMac with a Core 2 2.8Ghz Extreme, 2GB RAM, ATI 2600HD and a 1TB drive he offered to me for 500 bucks. Perfect condition. Everything works great. Came with Lion. This iMac I'm sure was 2500 bucks back in 2008 so I think I got a great deal. Loving it! :)

My 2009 Macbook Pro was dragging me down so I just got my new iMac delivered :D

27-inch iMac
3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB (Will upgrade with my own RAM)
2TB Serial ATA Drive
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5

Time to get down and dirty :apple:

Woot! Free RAM and VRAM

THX :apple:!!!
Refurb i7 with SSD came with a free upgrade to 8 GB RAM (2x 4GB) and 2 GB Video :D

Ordered Wednesday, arrived Friday

Just ordered my first Imac. Got the base 27" i5 with a 2TB drive. Will be buying an additional 8GB memory from crucial in a few weeks. I'm very excited. I love my Macbook Pro but I can't keep looking at a 13" screen all the time... :)

my first iMac

hi,

i just ordered my first Mac ever. it's the iMac 27" with the core i7 processor. Will be upgrading the RAM too. The crucial memory site lists that the iMac can take 32GB of RAM. Pretty strange as I was under the impression that the max RAM on the iMac is 16GB. Anyone who has tried 32GB??

I know that Apple will soon replace/refresh the iMac, but what the hell if you play the waiting game you'll end up buying nothing as Apple will refresh the model every six month or so. Some where you have to draw a line. Besides I firmly believe that you should never buy the first model of a newly designed Apple product!

regards
aldo

I just ordered the Black Friday special from Best Buy. iMac 21.5, i5, 2.5Ghz. I could not pass up the deal. Retail 1199 got it for 1039 using a 10 buck rewards certificate they just sent me. Just the right size for a small room and should meet my needs. Cool...

Another new iMac owner

Well, I just placed an order for a new iMac. I've bee a PC guy my whole life, but got one of Apple's "gateway drugs", the iPhone 4, back in February, followed closely by an iPad 2 on launch day. Next week I'll receive a 27" 3.4 GHz i7 iMac. I ordered it with the 1 tb hd plus 256 gb ssd option, and I ordered 16 gb of memory from Amazon which I'll install before I even power on the machine.

Should be an exciting adventure making the transition.

Got my first Mac, a MacBook Pro, when they first came out.. I believe it was January of 2006? This year I've gotten my first iPhone and an iPad2 .....

I'm finally sucking it up and getting the following to replace the work PC:

21" iMac
2.5GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive
AMD RadeonHD 6750M 512MB GDDR5

I need to run Quickbooks for my business, so my thought is to install Parallels and Windows 7 to run it ...

Can't wait to have our first iMac !!!

. . . decided to make the HUGE transition at my office: Changing our mission-critical software application from a PC-based program to THE MAC OS!

So, I went and purchased a MacPro yesterday and (3) 21.5" iMacs on Black Friday!

It's Go-Time!

First Post!

Just got my iMac 27" Mid 2011, Quad Core i5 3.1ghz, ATI 6970 1GB, 1TB drive, right after Thanksgiving :) Black friday but it wasn't on sale lol. I came from an awesome gaming computer, 30" dell, i7 920 oc 4.3ghz, SSD, gtx 570, etc. And been a windows user since windows 3.1. I really fell in love with the Mac OSX, and since I am mostly doing photo editing and not gaming anymore, I sold it to someone that will make good use of it :) I attached a pic of my new system.

Wonderful Forum, and I hope to be of some use and help other members here.

-James

I have my new 27" base model iMac for a week now. Can't be more pleased.

1. IPS screen is a sight to behold. Editing using Adobe Lightroom is on a different level.

2. Its very fast (fitted 12gb from crucial)

3. I installed steam(valve) and guess what, all my games came in instantly. Counterstrike source can be played in the native resolution and it looks brilliant. Also just bought the mac version of Call of Duty 4 (My PC version was 2) and it also plays brilliantly in native resolution. Going to buy borderlands for mac now! Pity there are not more recent games ported to the mac, hopefully this will build in the future as more people use the mac. All I need now is serious sam III to be happy ;)

4. Bought a new Microsoft Sidewinder X8 and a steelseries S&S mousemat. Really beautiful gliding and 4000 dpi is perfect for the 27" resolution.

Its so easy to use. It sees all my PCs on the network and connects natively to them. It even saw my HP C7280 on the network and just downloaded the drives and worked straight away.

Even the built in speakers aren't too bad!

A1 computer .....
