Enjoy your new Mac. And don't worry; the new one, when it comes out, won't make yours suddenly keel over from obsolescence. Even base-model iMacs are smooth-running, powerful machines in their own right.
Awesome machine and congratulations.
I'm curious, how do you get 90 days to return it? Normally Apple has a 14 day return policy. I could be wrong?![]()
90 days for a BTO nonetheless. Must be a business perk.
9to5Mac reports
9to5Mac reports that no new hardware is launching with Mountain Lion next week.
I really want to buy a 27" iMac but I feel like if I do, Apple will launch a new one right after I buy.
Anyone else in this boat?
Greetings all,
I've finally reached the end of my deliberations and sealed the deal on a refurbished iMac for $999. Most if not all people on this forum will likely think me foolish for buying days before a "supposed" new release, but truthfully I don't feel there's any characteristic of the expected new model that would be worth an extra 200 bucks - the 2011 model was/is a spectacular machine to begin with. I think the discount in the refurb store is recompense fair enough for its age. And since Apple restores computers so well and I've never seen a refurb that has so much as a single scratch on it, this is a luxury we can take advantage of without compromise. The one thing that was keeping me thinking about the new model is USB 3. But my current external drive doesn't have a 3.0 port either and after paying new price plus a new drive, it would actually be cheaper to go for Thunderbolt storage since of course that interface is already present on the Mac. (I'm thinking Buffalo station) And it's even faster still. If by chance there is something revolutionary next week, I'll be covered by the return policy. But I don't anticipate any "buyer's remorse" because this computer does everything that I need and expect, very well, and most importantly while saving me substantial money. It's only too bad I won't be able to go online to be hip and brag about my higher spec numbers...![]()
I'm so happy to finally be aowner!
I wish I could do that but I know I would just feel to bad if one came out 1 month later! My thoughts exactly - no buyer's remorse here - just excited to have my first Apple computer and it suits my needs today - which to me is the crucial point of entry to a new experience - any computer is outdated the minute you buy it - whether the latest version comes days or months later. Enjoy your purchase - I can't wait for mine to arrive and I won't be thinking about any new releases.![]()
No, they don't. They speculate, they assume. They write whatever thought appears in their head and post it for the world to see. The particular "no hardware" claim seems to have no basis and wasn't repeated anywhere, including pieces that cited the 9to5 article for proclaiming July 25 to be Mountain Lion Day.
Might as well wait until ML releases and see what the real story is.
My fingers are crossed that Apple releases a new iMac with ML. I'm hoping they finally use a desktop GPU and obviously it will have the faster Ivy Bridge CPU.
If they don't release a new one with ML, I'm buying a 27".
My iMac arrived yesterday and I am absolutely loving it - what a great piece of kit. The screen is excellent and I am finding my way about it a pleasure. I must have been living in the dark ages with my dusty old windows laptop. Are there any essential software programs I should download to protect or to ease my usage?
