iMac Ordered....

Ok..after too long dithering, and amist panic attacks over "is something new around the corner?" "is refurbished evil"? and stuff like that, I pulled the trigger and ordered.

Refurbished 27-inch iMac 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
Originally released October 2012
27-inch LED-backlit display with IPS technology
8GB memory
1TB Fusion Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX with 2GB

Apple Store is all of 5 minutes away from where I live so if refurb IS evil, or something new IS around the corner, I can take it back...

With refurb i'm saving $200 over what I'd likely have gotten and with the I7 instead of i5, so I think I'm ok with all this...

Pardon me while I go get a bag to breathe in...

Bought my refurb and got a bonus

Purchased the new model iMac as a refurb from Apple. Machine was in great shape, and as a bonus I noticed that I have a 3.1 I7 chipset. Purchased an i5 2.9.

new Imac comes tomorrow I am excited and looking forward to it!

Refurbished 27-inch iMac 3.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i5

Originally released October 2012
27-inch LED-backlit display with IPS technology
8GB memory

1TB hard drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX with 1GB
Built-in FaceTime HD camera

Im not power hungry and don't play many games so this set up will hopefully suit me fine

I took a deep breath and ordered:

It arrived at a nearby Apple Store in two days. I added 16 GB of Crucial RAM, a super drive, and a wired keyboard for the number pad and two extra USB ports. That was two months ago, and it is fabulous. Never having order a refurb anything before I was a bit nervous about it, but it looks and acts brand new. I saved several hundred dollars over the new price and got exactly what I would have ordered new. I am extremely happy with it.

Just ordered:

Originally released October 2012

That looks like a really nice mac. I don't think you will have to upgrade for a while. My wife is pushing for the same imac as we have an 08 right now and it has been bullet proof. Lets hope is stays that way before the new one is purchased. I will hold on for a little while longer to see if Haswell makes an appearance.

Have fun when you get it.

:D

Got it on thrusday...been putting it thru the paces the past few days.
Apple Store where i picked it up let me swap the mouse for the trackpad, so yay!

Overall I like it...still getting used to the size of it..and as expected, I find the lack of ports...and placement...having to reach around for connecting drives and unconnecting while I do set ups annoying. When I hook up the second monitor, which will take up one of the 2 !!! Tbolt ports, that'll leave one I'll have to constantly swap and unswap with the FW drives attached to the adapter.

It rendered a 2 min test comp in After Effects in 13 minutes that took about 52 minutes on the dell core2duo hackentosh. I confess I was expecting a bit faster, but perhaps that was unrealistic. (and I haven't worked on optimizing the render settigns yet).

After a lot of thinking and a big leap of faith in my pockets i got my first mac (i made this gift to myself for being promoted at my job :D). I couldnt resist anymore to this state of the art machine. I ordered it and it ships in 2 days.

Got the stunning 27'' inches, i5 3.2Ghz, 8gb of ram and nvidia gt675 1gb ram.
Im waiting for it on Thursday and i feel so damn excited!

So much to learn, as it is my first mac and so much to discover.
I started today reading your forums and seem quite established!!

Have fun all!

I also ordered a new 27" iMac from the refurb store:

• Intel Core i7 quad-core 3,4GHz, Turbo Boost 3,9GHz
• 8GB SDRAM DDR3 1600MHz - 2 x 4GB (Ordered 2 x 4Gb more from Crucial to make it 16Gb Total)
• Fusion Drive 1TB
• NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5
• Apple Magic Mouse
• Apple Wireless Keyboard

It arrives tomorrow....Woot!

I had sold my 2010 IMac 27, I5 and built a 3.4 Ghz PC about a year ago but I just had to come back to the light :apple: :D. Giving the PC to the Daughter and her Hubby.

My 17" MacBook Pro 2.66ghz i7 (mid-2010 release) has been showing its age when trying to process 36megapixel images out of my D800 in Lightroom. I maxxed out the RAM at 8gb and even swapped out the 500gb 7200rpm drive with a 256gb SSD - and even after that I am still battling with laggy performance and even the occasional beachball. So I said screw this and ordered my brand new 27" iMac with the 3.4ghz i7, 1TB fusion drive, and 2gb 680MX graphics. Should arrive tomorrow, can't wait!!11!!!1! :D

I almost went with the refurb @ $2199 but after doing the math, I only ended up paying a little bit more for a brand new one thru macmall with free shipping and no sales tax. MINE ALL MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I, too, couldn't resist any longer and ordered mine yesterday. I do have several Macs around the house, but this thing will be the beast of the bunch. ;)

• Intel Core i7 3,4 GHz
• 16 GB RAM
• 256 GB SSD
• NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2 GB

I'll mainly use it for heavy duty Photoshop & Lightroom, Final Cut Pro X and Logic Pro X editing and some "casual" gaming. This rig will get the job done, I guess. :)

my new iMac is soooo fresh! having a blast with it.

pulled the trigger on the same one.

Just bought a used 2011 entry 27" From a local mac store. Excellent condition, great price($1300 no tax), and got 2 extra gb of RAM.

Great Machine. Not the new powerful GTX 680MX machines all over this thread but this machine is quite powerful and is more than enough to run AutoCAD 2013 for Mac and play most of the games I want to play at max res. Loving the display!

Just traded my 2012 base rMBP 15" for a 2011 27" i5 with 20GB memory and 256GB SSD. SSD and memory not factory, so will need to buy a couple of OWC/iFixit kits to dual install drives, but should then be set.

Just purchased a new iMac to be shipped to an Apple store for pickup.

3.2GHz
8gb RAM (Already have 2x 8gb Crucial ready to boost it to 24gb)
512GB SSD
NVIDIA GeFORCE GTX 680MX
Magic Trackpad (I have a Magic Mouse and a Logitech Performance MX...I probably won't use the trackpad very often but I sure as hell won't be getting another crappy Magic Mouse)
Keyboard with num pad (Already have a Wireless one so figured no point in getting another)

Also bought an Apple Battery Charger (I know I could buy one way cheaper at Walmart...just figured why wait?) and a .5m Thunderbolt Cable for easy data transfer between my MBA.
