The i5 MacBook Pros were going to be released today...

I am being patient. I will be turning a whopping 40 on 3/2 and for it, my 2 brothers, 1 sister, and parents are actuallly teaming up to by me a present. Strangely, one of my nephews has a mbp 13 @ 2.26. I want the 2.53 and they have agreed to purchase it.

I've got until 3/2 for a refresh to happen, but to be honest, watching what my nephew can do with his, I'd be ok with a 2.53.

Being that there's no change in the OS, it can only be faster. Not much in the way of new apps.

My 2 cents on the iPad:

It IS the future of computers. Just look at Star Trek. However, it needs a camera and for us IT goobers it has to be guaranteed to have 10+ hours battery life and it needs a com port... Needs as much AD integration as straight OSX, etc. It's a great concept, but it's just not the one. Not yet.

On the name, I'd given a paycheck for them to continue the Newton title. i had one and it kicked a$$.

Things point to a very close release date of the MBP..yet still things can go out of hand and be delayed more
I've been waiting for months now, I'd have to get a MBP by early February :/

And Apple delaying the MBP announcement to not detract attention from the iSlate is very likely..

Regarding the iPad, as with Apple, wait for the revisions(next generation) until it becomes solid and actually useful..

Annnnd the only other thing I can tell you is that European resellers who have started advertising the iPad have been bitched out for it. Apparently it might not even go on sale there. All European marketing has been pulled for now. Again, don't know whether that's new or old info, or if it's interesting. It's interesting to me, because it's quite Zune-like.

(And before anyone asks, no I don't know why Apple themselves are still advertising it in Europe and no, this time I don't have proof).

I would advise you to not share in the future though, as it really just ends with people unfairly calling you a liar, which sucks. I shared some information I received that was hearsay (meaning my friend told me what his family member who works at Apple told him). My friend had previously been fairly accurate except in the actual timing. It was fun knowing the information, so I thought I would share the next time. If you share information three or four times and are correct, I am sure Arn will start releasing the information and stating "from a confidential source." That way everyone can discuss, but you're not at the same risks for involvement as it wasn't your account. Plus, people will not call Arn a liar like they will you or I.

Best wishes with everything, and I hope you find the right way to share this information you find. I surely appreciate it, but I seriously advise you to share with only people you trust who will also trust you without calling you a liar. I'm agree, I think that we'll got the pad in Europe too.. Apple is trading with our mobile operators for the 3G service for sure.

Nah fish, don't be bitter. This is a forum, there will always be haters. Then there will be the ones like me who are normally silent but enjoy a good inside tip from a seemingly decent and legit guy. What else can you tell us about the updates? Apple is replacing my Macbook for a 13" Macbook Pro, so I'm looking for the right time to get it done, or whether it's even worth waiting. Any other info you have please share, don't lose faith in the forums, on behalf of the silent believers.

Even knowing this release is imminent, I ordered a 2.53 GHz MBP yesterday! I'm only in the US for a week and a half. I prefer the keyboard layout and can save about £200. So...if the new models come out between now and the 9th, I will probably shoot myself. I seem to remember having read some rumors about the ATI 5830 graphics card. It was delayed due to some error, between the 25th and the 27th.

I am writing this because i have heard that some people believe that Apple is going to use that card in their refresh.

So my point is, that maybe the refresh were delayed because of this!

Yesterday it was possible to preorder all iPad models at amazon.de (Germany) starting at 499 Euros. (There was a link at the Front Page.) Today you can’t. No iPads at amazon.de!!!
