This is probably my favourite mockup that i've seen around, havent seen it on macrumors, jus thought i'd throw it into the debate.

But i would definately buy this :)

snip

I saw that one just some minutes ago on 9to5mac.com. Apparently a new rumor considers the iPhone to come in 3 models, an iPhone EDGE, iPhone 3G and an iPhone mini, like what we are mockuping in this thread all along. I think I'm going to make a new mockup soon, little like the one from flickr..

Problem with an iPhone nano+multitouch, is the "full-sized" keyboard will be very difficult to use, the mockup above, whilst looking visually stunning, can you imagine using the SMS app on that thing?

it does look nice, but i agree on the typing issue... also, would you even want to bother with the internet on a device that small... to me, the screen is too small to be practical in an internet capacity

i'm generally disappointed by the mockups in this thread, but that would look awesome as a full-sized iphone. i'd love to have it be full aluminum casing, including the front bezel... chrome is so stupid

didn't somebody at AT&T or Apple recently say that all internet enabled devices would be 3G or something of the ilk? I don't think they will keep an Edge only version.

I can't agree more. It's already hard to type fast on an iphone/ipod touch, if the screen then get's smaller.. Maybe they just need an normal gsm keybad with 3/4 letters per letter.. With a smart dictionary..

Maybe the Edge version they'll sell Unlocked. If they rebrand it "iPhone EDGE" or "iPhone Classic" then it's not technically an "iPhone" and restricted to AT&T's contract? Isn't it :p

iHope they do actually do a iPhone Nano, I would be so happy! :)

EDIT: I wouldnt buy the one punitnaker posted though, I couldnt have a mobile with no camera. Also, I do hope what 9to5mac siad about it not being able to do video playback is not true.
ANOTHER EDIT: I hope if a iPhone Nano comes out it will be avalable on pay as you go and have unlimited date, like the current iPhone (or at least a certain amout of free date each month) that way, I can browse the without worrying about WiFi hotspots, which would be great, even if it is a bit slower, slow internet is better than no internet! If its contract only I will just unlock it :D

well looking at the icons, i would assume that the height of the nano model would be the same as the width (or there abouts) of the current iphone model. So SMS and email in landscape would work great i believe. I think the applications it can hold should be similar to the iphone and ability to add extra homepages and 3rd party software will be there to keep continuity between the models. but it possibly wont have the hardware that iphone will have.

Also i believe that this would be far easier to compose SMS's than on the mockups with click wheels! c'mon guys, we're not moving backwards with our technology. Apple is all about multi touch these days, id be surprised if they release ANY more products with out some kind of multi touch feature

But i do believe that this is a great phone for the younger users or those who dont use their phone much, or people like my girlfriend who just wants a smaller iphone :D

Apple will never release an iPhone nano.

Still don't even know why anyone would want it. It would be too small to hold up against your ear + (as someone already mentioned) SMS would be hard. Although they could add an option for T9, I still don't see Apple releasing an iPhone nano.

You might have a point, but looking at the mockup again.. if you were to text in landscape, and have the keyboard the same size (as i think you were suggesting, all youd be able to see is the keyboard, and not what youre typing, and not what anyone else just typed.

The screen is 3 icons wide on the home screen, and when opening SMS on my iPhone, the keyboard comes the same distance up as 3 icons, therefore it just wouldnt work..

Sorry to bring back a bit of a old thread but I just done my first ever mockup and im proud of it :)

This is basically the design for the new website...

No problem, one of my most favourite threads, but i forget making a mockup :p

From what I've noticed is that the mass market is not interested in how small the phone can get anymore. We've seen some super small phones come out like a year or two ago and they didn't sell all that well. If you look at the marketing now, they're all heading to semi-smart phones with keyboards. Every single commercial you see on t.v. and in ads all are advertising iPhone killers, and I believe that's bumped the market a little. People want features over size now. (although size is very important)

I slimmed her down, and got rid of the button. A simple flick of the wrist brings you back to the carrousel. The carrousel is similar to the scroll wheel, and coverflow mixed, it's sort of a circular coverflow. The apple logo on the back is a light similar to on the macbooks the glows its corresponding color.

I don't want to say they copied my design. But they are very similar.

ok maybe they did.

Darn you apple.

The smaller one is, if you compare it to the size of the larger one.

Sorry I took forever ot reply to that, the forum never told me there was new posts in this thread!
