Since the nano does not feature a keyboard or keypad, it recognizes speech, allowing people to say what they want on their SMS instead of typing it. This feature will also work in many other applications such as Notes and SafariNano.

I want to be able to text on the train, can't do that if I have to talk to the phone. Other then that, it is really cool!, can the click wheel fold down and reveal a keyboard?

Nice camera app, good back mockuping, very nice!! ... Adam :p the only thing i woul change on the mockup is that the where now the baby is, that the whole screen is covered with the photo, do you get what i mean?? that the black around the baby photo isn't there but just the photo . with more pixels in the height. but really nice mockup

Maybe today or tomorrow i'm gonna bring a ne mockup.

from this article in apple insider, assuming its correct, it doen't look like there will be an iPhone nano

http://www.appleinsider.com/article...iphone_software_update_to_arrive_shortly.html

"After speaking with Joswiak, the analyst also made changes to his predictions for future iPhone models. Although he spoke of "higher resolution" iPhones earlier this month, Abramsky now says he expects Apple to differentiate its iPhone lineup not by features, but by price and memory capacity. The move, he explained, would be similar to how the company grew its iPod lineup, simplifying market positioning."

We'll see if there comes a iphone nano or not but we keep on making mockups :p

I just made a new mockup, it actually didn't turn out so well IMO but who cares, It's the camera app, in the former mockup you can see how it would look in the menu to go too the camera app. the snap is for taking the photo, and the second menubar is now for the mode, and when you turn your clickwheel you could change the mode, the modes would be like normal, night, sport and so one.... and maybe later when there's a new version maybe a mode with video... here it is: and as i said it's not soo great:

Wow! today i made 3 mockups, not that they take alot of time... looking forward to your next mockup Adam, :p

I really do not intend to dampen your creativity and efforts here, because I really appreciate that as a forum member and fellow creative... but what exactly is the point of posting these 'concepts' if you state yourself that you are not designing them to be Apple-like, to show what you really think Apple will end up doing, or even as a proof of creative concept? I've really seen just about nothing creative, original, or new in these concepts, and there are only a few things that seemed inventive at all--but even those were just inventive ways of extending the existing iPod nano interface. I've seen nothing that I think Apple would actually use, though for a moment the black nano mockup by deasine seemed somewhat plausible... but I still just have a hard time believing that with Apple's resources that they couldn't think up something more new and original... and you have all of the creativity in the world and a free resource.

For the millionth time , we do this for pleasure, and we're not pro's I even just work with Gimp, who cares?? if we have fun with making them, then were's the problem??? and we inprove every day, before this post i almost couldn't make a nice mockup, but after 6 pages i have involved and gotten better, still not really good but i'm learning, even when you have photoshop it still take some time before you are experienced...

Here is my new mockup its based o the leaked iPod interface videos (by the way you could tell me what you think about my new thread)

What d'ya think?

This is the new revolutionary iPhone Nano =)

[specs Updated, read it four posts down]

What do you think of my quick iPhone Nano Concept? Could it be possible.

-Rotating click wheel (so when turned horizontally the click wheel will be in correct position)

Apple left the rotating wheel back in 2001 with the first generation iPod. Even though it was an amazing start, I doubt they'll be going back there.

This is the new revolutionary iPhone Nano =)

Like the iPhone, it uses the Multi-Touch Screen, but with less capabilities such as the advance browsing with photos and Safari on the iPhone.

The Apple Logo underneath the screen is actually a heat sensor button, going back to the home screen. There are many different colors including blue, red, green, orange, and purple that can be set to different contacts, alerts, messages, etc.

The touchscreen keyboard seen in the iPhone is also available, but can only be used on landscape layout.

Since this is a scaled down iPhone, 3G, and Edge is unavaliable for internet use. But the WiFi is still there. A new app, iChat uses WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, and SMS to message neighboring iPhones. You can also send images and music to other iPhones using WiFi!

The iPhone Nano is based on the original iPod Nano design, just a little larger. The back of the phone is very similar to the current iPhone design.

I'd make it a bit more rugged and less sleek if its designed for young people that are always a little less careful and do quite a lot of sport.

Your first one was much better, this one is a little bit wierd, the specs

I did like my first one more, but it looked too much like the ipod nano. As I stated before (I'm sure many of you would agree), Apple likes to keep its products differ from each other = less confusion).

HAHA about the specs. Looking at it again, I agree with you it's weird. But remember for Specs, you can make it up w/e you want. I think these Specs are better:

Network: Quaband GSM (850/900/1800/1900)
Weight: 86 g
Dimensions: 90 x 50 x 8 mm
Display: Multi-Touch Screen, 2.5 inch screen, QVGA Screen Resolution
OS: OS X 10.4.8 [iPhone OS]
Features:
  • Accelerometer
  • Proximity sensor hidden behind Speaker Grill
  • MP3 Ringtones
  • Normal 3.5 mm headset jack (all 3.5 headphones work)
  • WiFi
  • Bluetooth v2.0, headset support and syncing (allowing file transfer between iPhones and other mobile devices)
  • SMS and MMS Messaging
  • Less advance iPhone Safari, but better than most mobile internet browsers
  • Widget Support (Dashboard)
  • Camera: 2.0 MP, Video: QCIF Resolution
  • Google Maps
  • iPhone iPod interface w/ Coverflow
  • Heat Sensor Home Pad with different colours designed for different alerts, contacts, etc.
  • iPhone Nano iPod interface includes access to iTunes Mobile Store
Battery: Stand-by Time: 200h, Talk Time: 6 h, Nonstop Music Playback: 4h

The newer iPhone is designed to attract younger people. It's sleek front is protected by mineral glass, protecting the screen from scratches, dents, and less fingerprints. (This sort of solution is used on the Sony Ericsson T650)

The volume adjuster and silent button is located on the left, the power/stand by button is on the top, and a port and headphone jack on the bottom. A loudspeaker grill is located behind the phone, underneth the 2 MP camera.

Well why did I ditch the touchpad navigation? Honestly I really like that solution but there is no keyboard. Apple can consider hiding the keyboard and make it slide out but I think Apple likes simpicity in their products. Many teens (including myself, yes i am only 15) text A LOT. And that's why there will be a touchscreen keyboard (landscape mode only). E-Mail was ditched since it's more of a corporate business thing. And I think many surf on the net with a cell phone, so there will be a scaled-down version of Safari. But the new iPod app will allow anyone to download music from iTunes Mobile Store (in which WiFi can speed up that process).

Hi guys your mock ups are awesome joined just so I could post my own. Should be ready soonish untill then keep up the good work :D

Well heres my first version there's some stuff I want to add to it but havn't got any more time right now so thought I'd post this version for now. I was a bit surprised that none of your ideas that I could see included youtube how come? I'll explain how my idea works when I post the updated version and if your wondering what the icons are ment to be they are dashboard, ichat and games

What would be the draw of a small iPhone aside from the price, and by price I mean relative to the big iPhone? There is no way it will be cheaper than a subsidized phone.

The keyboard would be smaller and considering how many people think the portrait mode one is too small, hence the demand for landscape keyboard in other apps, so a smaller one would make less sense.

You are eliminating a full keyboard so you have the same keypad input method that other non-Qwerty phones have.

I dont see anyone wanting to type emails using the traditional keypad.

Browsing via safari on a small screen wouldn't be nice, you'd have to do a lot of double clicking to begin to read pages, and if they do a limited version of Safari how is it better than other phones?

So exactly what would a nano Phone offer that you couldn't get from a Chocolate, which can be had in 3G except for being an iPod as well.

The full phone makes sense because there is a lot it offers you can't get implemented as well as on other phones. I just dont see it on a smaller version.

I see the iphone nano being aimed at the lower end of the market like the mini was at the teenagers who can't afford the iphone (espically the monthly contract) and don't need all the features like google maps or email which would probably only be used to check for new myspace comments. Plus your missing the point that really the iPod isn't better apart from in looks to most mp3 players out there so all Apple needs to do is develop a smaller iphone that looks good and isn't that expensive and they will have a hit on their hands as people that would of brought a nano might choice the slightly more expensive iphone nano.
