the virtual dialing thing leaves out the possibilty of texting from a number pad. apple would be insane to not have texting on a phone like this

This would still cost alot, because too se youtube or websites you'll need EDGE, or higher, and the phone would still cost alot, look at my design, i think it would just have phone, sms, maybe a camera, photos, video and music but only in 1 and 2 GB versions.

All phones have at least EDGE these days...

If I could get it on tmobile for $200 I would buy it(2 gig space, I dont have many songs but would like to have a few on my phone).

Now if the iphone came on tmobile most likely I would buy one. Still waiting for update 1.1 to see if they really add some functionality or if we'll be stuck with hack apps until iphone V2 in 08

iphone

That was fun...if you're a Cingular subscriber. With the features the iPhone brings to the table, Apple didn't need a carrier agreement to sell them. They have delayed or prevented millions of sales by introducing the iPhone with an exclusive carrier.

iPhone nano UI iPod and phone

Ive been working on a few UI designs for my iPhone nano. Here are the Phone app and the iPod app. THe phone app is a bit different than the original iPhone. The iPod though is similar but cannot play video (might think bout that later...)

heres the UI..

no video?? you've got such a big touchscreen but no video??
i don' believe in such a big touchscreen for the iphone nano, if i have time i'm gonna make a new mockup with some new features.. maybe tomorrow.

who's up for doing an iPhone shuffle mock up then!!

I like some of the previous ideas, but i just dont see it happening. A nano is too small to have a touchscreen keyboard, the clickwheel cant do text entry. Unless it lost the full size touch screen keyboard, and replaced it with a touch alpha-numeric keypad, i dont see the nano happening.

well...

The iPhone nano SCREEN should not be smaller than the original iPhone. It should still be a 3.5 inch screen. But why call it a nano you might say..., well the iPhone nano would only be an iPod and Phone. No Internet. This ill be targeted at the teen market who doesnt really need the Internet features. Itll be a $299, $399. Also why its gonna be a nano will be because the sides will be reduced so that the whole phone is just the touch screen and the touch pad.

A made a new mockup, it has the same size as the ipod nano but now has an aluminium back with a black front (that has a illusion the screen is bigger like on the iphone), it costs 229$ or 269$ depending on it's flash drive, 1 or 2 GB, it plays music and video and can have photos, i can call and can sms but for the rest it doens't have internet or widgets, i does has notes and clock , and the games that the ipod nano now have. it's target market is for generally teens or people who only want a simple phone with sms and easy music and video playback and some games. and for people who just can't afford the iphone, it would also have a contract with AT&T but with less minutes and less sms. with lower cost here is it:

heres what i managed to whip up in the last couple of hours.
The concept is that you load your address book from your computer, and then you can browse through that in Phone mode by pressing up and down, but i havent put any arrows on the control pad yet. Call by pressing the middle button(icon is a work in progress. just there for concept at the minute). Incoming calls would show the name on the screen. Calls would be made using the headset with built in mic like the current iPhone headset.
Switch it to iPod mode, works practically the same as an iPod shuffle, but now the song name, artist album scroll through on the screen.

texting is a no-go however, though if youve got an idea, id try to incoporate it.

Texting is going to be Apple's most difficult feature to integrate into the iphone nano. A click wheel interface would be slick, but how would users text?

really nice mockup, why don't you make the UI of it, but i don't think that an iphone shuffle would go on market.

i made a new mockup with some better graphics and with a second menubar that shows the date or something else and it's transparent and changes to the background. her is it:
