Came here to post this. Loving my XR. I’ve tried all phones apple has released. I think the XR is the best phone they’ve ever released. So it’s now been a week of using my iPhone XR and it is fantastic. I love this iPhone. It’s one of the best iPhones that Apple has ever released. It has a fantastic balance between function and form.
One of my favourite aspects of the iPhone XR is the fact that it uses a gorgeous LCD panel and OLED burn in is something that requires no consideration whatsoever. You simply have the option of using your display at any brightness for any given period of time. The LCD display to me looks no different in terms resolution in normal use to that of the OLED. I also find that the LCD in this iPhone doesn’t have that horrible glare that OLEDs seem to emit that over long periods of use can cause eye fatigue. The screen real estate is great, it’s the perfect in between at 6.1” to enjoy your content and not have a phone that is unwieldy and cumbersome.
The battery life of this iPhone is far better than that of the iPhone XS and even the XS Max, it’s fantastic! You can get through a full day without an issue and have plenty of juice left over for your evening.
The cameras are both as expected, just as capable as the XS and XS Max and produce the same quality in terms of photo and video. Everything looks wonderful and you can capture some amazing shots and footage! Yes this is at the omission of the second rear telephoto lens but this for myself I found to be a non issue due to the fact I use both the front facing camera and wide angle lens more often and have a DSLR for my other photography needs.
I love the fact that you are still getting that powerhouse A12 Bionic. The phone is super snappy and performs like a champ! I find that it never gets hot and remains rather cool to the touch even after long periods of use.
The build quality of the iPhone XR feels premium and doesn’t at all feel cheap. The aluminium band with glass front and back is lovely to both look at and hold in the hand.
With the iPhone XR you still get all of the features that you’d want in a premium phone with a premium experiment yet without the extra cash outlay of an iPhone XS/XS Max. After having used the iPhone XS and XS Max thoroughly I can safely say that I by far enjoy using the XR a lot more.
The iPhone XR is definitely worth the purchase! Have a great day everyone and take care.

Here is the link to reddit where I found first reports of burn in.

I switched back to the Apple iPhone XR after having a Google Pixel 2 phone, for I wanted to get back into the Apple Eco system. I know from first hand knowledge that you have to be careful with YouTube reviews for everyone was bragging about how good the Google Pixel 2's camera was at the time I went with it. I personally didn't see nothing special about the camera after using it for awhile. Sorry, getting back to the iPhone XR; all I can say is that it is nice being back in the Apple Eco system. I order the phone online and thought I clicked the color blue for the phone's color, but when I got it it was the Coral version.
However, I liked the Coral color so I decided to keep it and now when I'm looking for the phone around the house I say that "I'm looking for my orange that I misplaced". 🙂 I decided to go with a clear case for I was getting tired of getting a phone that looked nice, but only to cover it up with a case. There are a few glitches that I found with the iPhone XR that I hope Apple with future updates (I updated the latest iOS version) that will resolve them. Mainly with applications not fitting right on the screen n my opinion, but it might be more of a software developer problem. I really haven't tested out the phone features yet, for I mainly text people for I find it easier and I get better response time than had I did it the old fashion way of giving them a call. I'm a little surprised by comments I have read of this phone being big, for in my opinion it's not big but the right size. Coming from me with small hands that is saying something, but in fairness I hardly ever use my phone with one hand unless when I'm talking on the phone. I find using any smartphone awkward trying to using it with one hand and pressing buttons, plus I find it more secure when using it with two hands and I haven't dropped a phone yet (I hope I didn't just jinx myself). I find the lcd display to be nice and I personally have no problems with the resolution. Compared to some of my older smartphones this blows them out of the water when it comes to resolution and overall handling.

Thank you for posting that, I appreciate it. Interesting read. I went through the whole thread (all 167 comments, lol), and my takeaways were:
1 - burn-in is absolutely a real thing
but
2 - most people won't have to worry about it
and
3 - it can be avoided entirely if you know what you're doing.
One of the most damning bits of evidence in support of #1 was this link to a twitter page: https://twitter.com/demii_7/status/1018684648090550273 - I mean, there's no arguing with that photo. And several redditors mentioned they'd seen similar screens on their own phones.
But - the same pic also demonstrates why most users don't have to worry. The phone in that photo was a display unit at an AT&T store. Display phones are on maybe 12 hours/day, constantly, at full brightness - and they're (usually) displaying the same static picture all (or most) of the time - such as those icons at the bottom of the screen. So, in an extreme case, burn-in is clearly a risk.
But how many people actually use their phones like this? Or even remotely like this? The redditors who claimed to have burn-in issues admitted they, too, often had their phones at full brightness for long periods of time. For example, using google maps every day for hours at a time, in a car (which likely means full brightness).
The vast majority of folks stated they experienced no burn-in, despite heavy use of launch day phones. And I think most iPhone owners will fall into the same bucket. I mean, if burn-in on iPhones was truly an epidemic, it would be all over the news. You wouldn't have to dig for a reddit thread to learn about it.
Yet, obviously, this is a real risk...and one that most users are unaware of. Avoiding the issue is easy, but you do have to be cognizant of the circumstances that could cause it. There will inevitably be people out there planning to use the phone in some manner that involves static screens at full brightness, for long periods of time. I hope they learn about potential burn-in before it's too late.
Veering back on topic: thanks again @RMP28 for providing that link. Personally - for me, and the way I use my phone - the risk of burn-in isn't any kind of strike against OLED. It's not something I'd ever have to worry about. However, I think it's important that people know the risk exists. So, it's worth mentioning when comparing the XS/XS Max with the XR (like in this thread), because, inevitably, some percentage of buyers will want to use their phones in those "extreme" circumstances.
Did ya try another ?
I swear 12.0 to 12.0.1 either fixed my screen or a day of using it
Kept my original one and traded my 7+ bc it was superior side by side and to memory
This phone has been great
Sadly the OLED burn in has come to a head as of August which is really soon to be seeing burn in on a device that costs upwards of $1500 here in Australia. People are noticing that the home bars are burning in, its able to be seen from the app switcher with a wallpaper that isn’t too dark. That to me is poor and I would want my display to remain looking pristine for longer than 9 or so months. That’s why I love LCD, it doesn’t have this issue nor have I ever faced this issue with LCD personally. The screen is the component of a phone that we interact with the most, I don’t want it retaining images permanently that’s for sure.
Picked up another today. This one has the best screen of any Apple device I’ve owned. Super stoked on this phone.
Proof? Ii isn't that I don't believe you, it is just that I have NEVER seen burn-in on an X or XS or XS Max.

I love the sturdiness of this phone, no bendgate, no scuffgate and infinite battery life. With two glass sides and it’s thickness it feels almost indestructible like an iPhone 4.So it’s now been a week of using my iPhone XR and it is fantastic. I love this iPhone.
