If a player scores a goal when it goes to PK's after overtime, do they get credit for the goal? The How to Play tab is not exactly specific on the issue or maybe I'm reading it wrong:

In the knockout rounds, events which take place in extra-time are counted towards the fantasy game. However, penalty shootout events do not count.

I read that as anything that happens in a penalty shootout doesn't count. Yay for having a Japanese defender! :p

hopefully they don't count because otherwise i would be screwed with 2 defenders from paraguay .. that would give me a whopping -6 points if paraguay loses 4-5 in penalties

if i factor in the clean sheet from regular time that would be losing 18 points for me ;)

so if those goals gcount i'm sure not happy even if barrios scores

Well played on choice of defenders, fellas.

I'm pretty sure the points don't count against keepers or defenders. Here's the full paragraph:

In the knockout rounds, events which take place in extra-time are counted towards the fantasy game. However, penalty shootout events do not count. Also, a team must keep a clean sheet for 120 minutes to be eligible for a clean sheet if extra-time is played. Teams which concede a goal in extra-time will not receive clean sheet points.

But it doesn't address the -3 for a missed PK specifically or the points awarded for a scored goal by PK.

Right, time for an update of the standings after the Round of 16, ahead of the start of the Quarter-Finals Tomorrow...

A little group looks to be trying to pull away, led by pivo6's Brainerd FC who top the table following a scintillating performance worth an impressive 67 points. Indeed, this performance means that Minnesota's foremost managerial MacRumormonger has also earned himself the accolade of Team of the Round for the second time this tournament.

So well doe on both counts, pivo6. :)

So well done on both counts, pivo6. :)

Thank you. This next round will be very interesting. I'm hoping my recent success will put me in line for a certain West London club. I can't be any worse than Alan Curbishley, or Sven.

*shaking fist angrily*

looks like my goal for the rest of the tournament is to secure that third place because catching an extra 16 points is next to impossible

There's still time yet. ;)

And on that note, let's take a look at the standings as they, er, stand after the Quarter-Final matches...

pivo6's Brainerd FC are still on top, but Tilpots is very much hot on his heels – and despite his protestations otherwise, Takao and his Tigers are still in the chase. With only two rounds of matches to go though – and with a greatly diminished pool of players to choose from – our league leaders will have to tread carefully as a poor selection or two could prove very, very costly indeed.

However, one of our managers who certainly can't be accused of poor selections is swiftaw. His Omaha Latics picked up a weighty 57 points during the Quarter-Finals, more than any other team which means that he's earned the latest Team of the Round award.

So well done pivo6 and swiftaw. :)

Sweet, I knew I had a good week.

Edit: i guess it was a good day to transfer in Van Bronkhurst.

Yes it was!

Congrats pivo6 and swiftaw!

Pivo6, I'm coming for you!

I decided to bring in another Dutch defender to replace the suspended van der Wiel, and after a fair bit of agonising decided to opt for Heitinga instead of van Bronckhorst.

Gah! Heitingai! Van Bronckhorst!

<shakes fist angrily>

gee you should have seen me when Robben absolutley missed those sitters... with him being my captain

at least despite missing that clean sheet i got the forlan goal and van bronkhorst right.. and an assist from kuyt ;)

I originally used most of my money on my attackers and midfield and so ended up with a cheap Uruguayan defense which has done me rather well. Until now.

Every scorer :D, but two somehow managed to score whilst sitting on the bench :( Using the Dutch keeper and FIFA have van Bronckhorst on zero shots...bench him. Which Uruguay defender? Have Maxi Pereira so in he goes, but wait, the team is being announced and Alvaro Pereira is in midfield/attack, sorry Maxi, Alvaro you're up. Wonder if anything will happen to Pique and Lahm?????
