We don't talk about that here.
This is exactly the right place to discuss the Hackintosh.

Plus the cost of OS X, plus the cost of FireWire, plus the cost of...
So anybody with a hackintosh cheaper than $399?
(We even have a saying: "I want to sit in front row for a dime")
You can get a D945GCLF for only $70, plus a stick of RAM and harddrive, all ready to go. Cheap, tiny, low power consumption hackintosh.

Now that's one hackintosh I'd like to see built. Has anyone successfully done so? What's the performance like on that Atom processor? Will it take a single 2 gig stick? Two SATA ports is all that I'd need for a kid computer.
Funny how the OS would cost more than the computer...

I liked it better when we didn't have a thread on this and just said, "Google OSX86".
The google paradox:
Where you google something and only get results that tell you to google the thing youre after.
Thats happenned to me many times. It happens more frequently on forum searches where people tell you to search first and the only search results you get are of people telling you to search, but it still happens with Google too. The more places that tell you to google something the more likely you are to encounter a paradox.
I am literally ordering the parts.
Let us know how your build goes. Looks pretty straight forward.
I am literally ordering the parts. I already have the DVD Burner and HD, so I could build this system out the door for 200 bucks. The thread and HCL look like it should be even easier than the one I already built as far as compatibility OTB.
Keep us informed of your project and where you buy the parts. This is so tempting.
At that price, how can you resist? What should I do with it? lol, I already have my original hackintosh with all my movies, work, and music hooked up to my TV. Hmmmmm, ideas anyone?
You know, I think the main reason why Apple won't let OS X run on non-proprietary hardware is because if they did, people would just say "screw Apple hardware, I'm just gonna build my own!"
On the other hand, Dell, HP, Gateway, etc have to deal with this too.
With regard to Hackintosh id not use it. Currently i dont believe the support is there. A friend of mine who wanted to use mac installed it on his Pc and had so much trouble with hardware support. In the end he just went out and brought a mac..
