My 8800 GTS Seems to work great. But is this the right specs?

Chipset Model: Graphics by NVIDIA
Type: Display
Bus: PCIe
PCIe Lane Width: x16
VRAM (Total): 1024 MB
Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)
Device ID: 0x0193
Revision ID: 0x00a2
ROM Revision: NVinject 0.2.1

Its a 320mb GDDR3 card...

so its reporting 1024mb vram and its only a 320mb card? might cause a crash somewhere down the line

Like I said, mine reported 256MB (the size of my 7200GS) until I did EFIStudio. Does EFIStudio actually install the correct kext, or does it just edit strings?

why dont you try deleting the kext, repairing permissions, restarting, then installing the kext using EFIStudio?? thats the method i use.

Well for OS X, I don't really care that much. If it works, then it works. And on the Windows side, I just installed the proper driver and everything runs a lot smoother (gaming wise) than the 7200GS.

I don't think I'm gonna be removing any kexts unless I notice any problems :p

Yeah i think i might just leave it as well. I've run the OSx86 Manager thingie which i added onto the install and it profiled my system and downloaded some updates... Still says the wrong thing tho.

*Edit*

Just ran Xbench with a couple of apps open, got 152.64 (I think). Is that good?

Dang you! I just ran it on my machine and got a 128. Of course I have like 5 apps running, so I dunno if that hurts it much. But still lol

THe HD test is where my score got murdered

Yeah i reckon my Quad core would stuff it up. The 6600 (My version) was one of the earlier generations in quad-core chips. It's just friggen amazing to see how much things are quicker on OSX now that i'm actually utilising 4 cores and 4 gigs of ram properly.

fair enough, yea dont touch it otherwise it might make it not work!! haha taht would be terrible.

wow that is pretty good! that is right up there with the MacPros!

yea you really need a good quality HD for these tests to do any justice, no matter what the machine is. at least your computer gets above 100 (my poor MBP gets like 60).

eheheheheh just wait until snow leopard comes out!!

iDeneb v1.3

I downloaded with my mac, but it makes no difference, it's an ISO file

I used Disk utility to burn, but you can use anything. Try imgburn for Windows, just be sure to burn it at like 2x (real slow)

Well I ordered that 8800GS, so we'll see how it goes :D

I used my Windows machine to burn the Kalyway ISO to DVD.
I downloaded iDeneb yesterday to my Hackintosh. Can I burn the ISO to DVD using Disk Utility or Toast without doing anything to the ISO file?

Well, I'm fortunate enough to have a FIOS 50/20 connection and usenet access so it takes me about 10 minutes. I usually get roughly 1GB/3min.
Yesterday I downloaded iDeneb 1.3 taking 5 hours and 31 minutes. My cable internet speed is 6mbps and often times is faster. So, if I was able to download at the rated ISP speed, it would have taken 89 minutes to download the iDeneb ISO of 4.38GB instead of the 331 minutes it actually took.

If you downloaded it in 10 minutes, that is incredible to get the full ISP rated download speed.

You can burn it with disk utility. That's what I used and it worked fine

lol he was downloading from a site that hosts it, not torrents like everyone else normally uses.

Will try it one of these days. I just downloaded it to have it when I decide which mobo to use for my next Hackintosh.

My Gigabye 965P-DS4 has been virtually flawless. Just need to look for an IDE fix, but your good to go if you use SATA. It's only really 2 DVD drives which i never use anyway.

anyone know what the sleep/shutdown/restart situation is on motherboards?

i want to have all these but it seems all the boards that are perfect for me either say they dont work in the HCL or on the forums and a script to run cpu=1 (one core) at startup fixes this… but this would suck on a quad core! i think its a problem on P45 chipsets.

im interested in boards that are 45nm Core 2 Quad compatible, 1600 FSB, DDR2 only, dual LAN (both working), working audio (front and back in/out), Firewire 400 under $250 like these…

GA-EP45C-DS3R, GA-EP45-DS4P, GA-X48-DS4 and GA-X48-DS5

What are the shutdown/sleep issues? I find my computer:

-Wouldn't shut down (And presumably sleep i guess) when i power down from OSX, although strangely it rebooted the last time i did it.

- My friggen screen saver won't work, it just goes to sleep but never activates the screen saver!! Gahh, any fixes?

And also, anyone know which chipset patch i'd need to select on ideneb to get it working with a 945PM? The laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN C25

On my atom board and my main machine shutdown/restart aren't an issue. Sleep has always been a pain though. It will shut off the HDs and the screen, but the fans still run. wtf?

Not a big deal because I VNC into my main rig all the time and the atom board is my server. So neither one would usually be asleep anyways.

Sleep was an issue for me last night when streaming Avi's to my PS3. I'm assuming when it slept it turned the HDD off which killed my stream. Theres an option that says 'Turn off HDD's whenever possible', should i uncheck that?

even though OS X can run uninterrupted for months i need sleep as im quite energy conscious and a PSU draws very little power in sleep saving you money on energy costs per annum. restart is essential as the OS updates that install files in the System folder require a reboot and i dont want to force restart and muck up the update. i guess shutdown is not essential but it would be useful when going away and not having to force shutdown which may mess up the HDD. finding a good powerful board with all these working is a challenge. some dont work and some arent documented so i dont want to take this risk.

everything works perfectly for me.. shutdown, restarting (probably only works because the bootloader selects osx by default instead of windoze), screen saver etc...

what board are you using? does it meet my requirements? hehe… i think sleep et al. problems are associated with some Intel chipsets like P45. i think finding a board with my wants and no sleeping problems will be hard :(.

if you have a look at my "Wants but dont have" thread post i have everything chosen for a Quad Core Hackintosh except the board.

Minor victory! Got past the hanging on bootup after finding out and subsequently installing with the southbridge ICH drivers. BUT graphics locked up, and the worst part of it im not 100% i selected the GO drivers. Anywho, i'll try with the GO ones that are fixed, then if that doesnt work, try the GO drivers again.

lolism i have a really BAD Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L . i was on a budget!! works perfectly but! cheap and efficient, faster than my imac which cost nearly 5x the cost.

Anyone had like a grey, locked up screen (On the apple logo boot screen), sometimes locks up looking like someone has put a boot through your LCD?

Different video patches had no effect, wondering if it might be a kernel or chipset problem. Trying the XNU kernel now with Go patches.

StageXNu made no diff still locked up looking LCD bleed.
