My Hackintosh specs:

Gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2C Micro ATX
Intel C2D E4500 OCed to 2.8GHZ
4GB RAM
250GB SATA HD
PNY 512MB 9600GT
Netgear GA311 Gigabit NIC

All of it supported out of the box, not sure about the built in video on the mobo as I've never used it. 9600GT's are supported out of the box with 10.5.6, just have to add EFI strings otherwise there is an installer for drivers for pre 10.5.6 that still provide full QE/CI acceleration.

:)

My next build will be a quad core, just waiting on a good deal to appear.

The driver you need depends on what mobo you are using. It could be Jmicron, viaata, or others. Find the model of your mobo and google search it like this:

*model no* site:forum.insanelymac.com

and you should be able to find out what driver you need.

Alright I have all my parts but im having a lot of trouble getting it working. My old system was much less of a hassle.

Motherboard: Gigabyte M61PME-S2 Motherboard http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...ffiliateID=X3Th4gZi_iQ-g.l.SXvXdX7nPk4qD930OQ

CPU: AMD 5200 X2 2.7 GHz
2GB Ram
250 GB Sata HD

I tried iPC 10.5.6 and it froze at interface namer after everything was installed. Maybe related to ethernet?

iAtkos crashed during install..

Trying kalyway right now. Any advice on what I should try??

i dunno, how about you research yourself on the individual components and see if they are compatible?

maybe i am just on IM too much and see soo many "will xx systems work with leopard" questions that it drives me insane

grrrr....seriously, IM is a few clicks away

I have been on there a lot looking at compatibility and just thought I'd ask here since a lot of the terms are new to me over there and sometimes I'm not sure if things are as easy/hard as they appear.

a hackintosh is soo much more work than youll realize

mines running perfect but it took forever to figure it out

be prepared to have so many dang issues its not funny and to do countless installs. to figure it out, you have to go on IM. so better get used to it

Ok thanks for the warning, I guess I'm reconsidering now, ugh, it seemed the like the perfect machine too, near mac pro specs for a fraction of the cost. I guess you have to expect to pay a price.

I have some time I'm just worried I'm going to get all the parts and not be able to figure it out and then have $1000 PC, which I really don't want as I do like windows at all.

well just research the parts. when i made mine, i bought the components i knew had success

even then, it wasnt a cake walk

i mean ive had sound issues, graphics issues, hard drive not showing full capapcity, not able to boot issues (a lot of different kinds that resulted in this), kernel panics for opening dmgs, kernel panics for using dvd burner, kenrl panics for using over 4 gigs of ram, usb not hot swappable, usb mouse being spastic, just to name a few

each one took some research to figure out

just my experience

however, now i know how to install everything on mine so im not worried but at the same time, it was VERY frustrating when i encountered them

OR try and if you mess up, treatit like a ps3 or put linux on it or heck even windows 7 looks enticing to me at least.

I will say, I am not a huge fan of apple, only osx but even then, my love for building my own systems will most likely have me building a pc box again if windows 7 turns out to be a decent os

So I got iPC 10.5.6 to work, but when I try and install drivers for my 8600 GTS it freezes on boot. :( It works fine on my old hackintosh though?

I need some help and insanelymac is definitely not the place to get it. You guys are a lot more helpful here.

Thanks

I have about 10 threads at IM with no replies... They arent an eager bunch over there.
Anyway, what drivers were you using for your card? I have an 8600gt 256mb and i use the nvkush installer, it has yet to fail me.

Yea I have about 5 threads without a single answer.

And I used to Nvkush with it on my old Hackintosh, but it frooze on the new one. Maybe I need to boot in verbrose mode

Did you try booting with -x (Safe Mode) in the EFI console? That and maybe using also -v (Verbose) so that you can see when the Kernel panics might help you. But i do not know more

I am planning on buying the following parts within the next few weeks and diving into the hackintosh,
...

Search on IM if anyone has these parts, it is best to use "older" tech as the quirks have been ironed out on EP35 and EP45 Chipsets - it will take a while before 1-2 X58 Mobo's work without problems.
Edit:
Just as an Example the .Kext package i use on my machine is in it's 15's revision (LS8 package for the GA EP35/45) it ssems that everything is working fine now, but in the first revisions there were problems...

My Strategy was to go to the IM "Genius Bar" look for tutorials on 100% working installations and then buy my Hardware. Yesterday i got Rid of my Kalyway installation and installed Retail Leopard with DFE's Boot123 and then Chameleon EFI.
