I bought the Space Gray Sport two months ago and I like the device — can't wait for watchOS 2 and native apps.

One thing though I have to admit is that (for my personal opinion) it costs too much. 479€ (and more) for an iPhone extension is too much for me. It costs as much as an iPad.

I know that almost all Apple stuff is considered overpriced, but, for example, I think we're more prone to overpay an iPhone or a MacBook (because they do so much and so well) than an Apple Watch — maybe in 5 years the Watch will gain incredible features and 479€ will be the right price.

A price point around 299€ — for the Sport one — would have make more sense to me.

That said, it's just a reasoning about the price. I like the Watch.

Mines SGS going back, 2nd day in work and there is tiny scratches on the bottom of the watch face. Can't have a £350 watch on my wrist that'll scratch at a moments notice!

yep your thoughts are dead on as mine..
I came from pebble to a Galaxy gear neo to a moto 360 and now a apple watch.
For the price of the apple watch it is just ridiculous how much it cost for so little it can do. This watch should cost no more than $250-300. In my opinon the galaxy gear neo was one of the best smartwatches that was made due to the easy OS and almost all the fuctionality that Samsung introduce are also on the apple watch.

As for me im still keeping it due to that fact that i have a iphone now and hope apple can improve on the speed of apps and hope developers create better apps.
Seriously $250-$350 I can't believe you said that. Look at the quality of the materials used.

Well this is really silly. I wanted an Apple Watch but was willing to wait for Gen 2. After the September Event thing I got the impression that these watches are on a slower update cycle, which made me want one again. So this morning I decided to get one - black sports band, stainless steel. It's lovely! Buuut, after using for a few hours I'm no longer impressed with it. Operating music is more fiddly than my Pebble watch, and the apps don't really do anything. That, and it seems quite laggy.

I haven't taken it back yet but I'm going to give it another week, curious to see if Watch OS2 adds anything significant.

Edit: I just took a call on it and that was a really neat feature! I didn't know I'd be able to take a call on the watch itself. Few more surprises like this and I'll have to keep it.

I look forward to Apple putting out a round watch.

A round watch indeed looks cool — the Moto 360 is beautiful —, but to me a round screen is not functional to display information. It can work in a few situations, but not the majority.

Great design is also how it works, not just how it looks.

Seeing another peson around the base here that has a watch (and doesn't find it particularly useful) led me to this thought: the people who somehow don't get the benefit of the Watch or see its usefulness since "my phone does all of the same things" are the ones who have their phones in their hands/face at all times. We all know those types, and yes - you're probably one of them. This dude has his phone in his face every time I see him; scrolling, typing, etc. He answers messages before the notification finishes dinging. Makes sense then... the Watch would be pretty pointless there, particularly at its price point. No sarcasm... I think, because I go hours of the day without looking at my phone or wanting to be bothered with notifications all day, I definitely can appreciate the convenience of the Watch.

Seriously, people considering getting one: really look at your phone usage/attachment. I think people who aren't quite so connected to their phones, or those trying to get a little less connected, are quicker and more open to seeing some of the inherent benefits.

haha, this is very true. It's exactly the reason I want to experiment with the watch some more. I've been using my phone way too much lately.

I just returned my gold sport and will be getting an SS. Normally I'm a fan of matte products, but it doesn't look as good on a watch. Already got the Milanese Loop band and really love the way it sparkles under specific lights and when I'm outside.

Leaning towards taking mine back (Black SS one). I want to love it but I don't like;

  • I can only sync one photo folder. I have my whole photo library on iCloud, so why can't I access my pics there? It's not an ideal photo viewer, but it has its uses.
  • The Photo Album face. I thought it would cycle through my synced photos, but instead it displays my whole (ordered by date taken, earliest first!) photo library. Why can't I choose which Album to use?
  • Being unable to change any ringtones.
  • Time Lapse face seems to be out of sync. At midnight I checked through all the faces, all except London and Paris were dark. I check at 7am this morning and London is showing as if its midnight. I can only assume it's using the Cupertino timezone as the base for Time Lapse? Or its buggy. I dunno.
  • Touch screen isn't that responsive. I find it swiping through either 0 or 2 glance panels.
  • If music is playing through the watch or it's remotely controlling another device, whilst the screen is dark the dial should (optionally) control music volume, or at least big rotations should. Not having to look at my Pebble when controlling music was the best feature of that watch and I'm surprised there haven't been steps to make the Apple Watch as good for that.
  • Ability to add complications to the Time Lapse+Photo faces.
  • Doesn't connect with bluetooth headsets (works with headphones though).
  • Separate "Screen on for X seconds on wake" option for nightstand and normal use.
  • Siri tells me to "check my iPhone" for things you think the watch could do - like when asking where a friend's location is.
  • No voice for Siri!
  • I'd like a nice solid confirmation from Apple on how waterproof it is. I want to go swimming with it.
  • The apps aren't very "app-like". They seem to be just lists. I hope this gradually changes with OS2.
I'm currently running WatchOS2 beta. I'm going to wait until the official release to see if any of those points are addressed.

Edit! But things I liked;
  • Never missing a call. My Pebble only works in range of my phone.
  • It's helping me be more active than my Nike Fuelband does. Though the stand reminders whilst watching films is pretty annoying.
  • I never wanted to lower my heartrate so much before. Lovely game in itself.
  • It feels great to wear despite how bulky it looks.
  • Battery life. Even with constant use I still end the day with 20-35% battery left.
  • Night stand mode is great and has the potential to replace my alarm clock.

A little off topic, but I'm currently considering getting rid of my iPhone and going iPad only, which would mean no more watch. :( So I'm considering other fitness trackers. Could you elaborate on why the Fuelband was less motivating than the watch?

As for the stand reminders, I put the watch in Do Not Disturb mode when going to theaters.

Doesn't the Apple Watch work with an iPad?

The Fuelband is great but it's very simple. There's no notification to tell you to get moving, it's just much more passive than the Apple Watch. But! The battery life is great, mine still lasts a week after a single charge. And the tracking app has much more detail and you can compare scores with friends.

No, Apple Watch only works with iPhones. Doesn't work with iPads or iPod touches. :(

And thanks for the info on Fuelband. I hadn't thought before of how "active" a fitness tracker is or is not. Gives me a good metric to consider when evaluating fitness trackers.

Don't get a Fuelband. Nike already discontinued that product. Look into Fitbit, Jawbone or Garmin if you're interested in Fitness trackers.

I returned mine when it died on me after 2 days. Then I got a round LG watch and could never go back to a square watch again. I look forward to Apple putting out a round watch.
They won't put a round one out anytime soon. If you compare how messages and photos look on a square watch compared to a circular watch, it's clear Apple did more homework than any of its competitors. At first I didn't like the look either, but after some comparisons, I've realized that it's superior for displaying most of the information people are interested in seeing. Information on other watches just look weird when displayed.

Taking mine back today. I've had it almost a week and whilst it's good it doesn't really do (for me) much more than my Pebble. At least not £520 worth of new features.

Glad I gave it a go though if only to get me to wait for Gen 2.

I see your point shiny is good but if I get one (seriously contemplating) I want a gold one and my budget and common sense does not stretch the gold edition model!!

Is it straight forward to take back? Can you buy, try it for a few days and then return for a full refund?

Cheers! In that case I'll get one to have a play with for a week then make a decision from there.
Best way for it! I was really sold on it until I finally got hold of one. Then it just started to ebb away until I realised I didn't really want one after all (at least not in its current state. The battery is great for me, it's just a bit slow/laggy).

I took mine back yesterday.

And exchanged it for the Space Black SS model.

Wasn't sure if I would like the Apple Watch so I wasn't going to pay that much money for a first generation device. Well after playing with the Space Gray Sport over the weekend I decided I was a believer in the device and figured it may be a while before they upgrade it to the next generation I went back to the Apple Store yesterday and upgraded to the Watch model to get the sapphire crystal and the stainless steal case.

After I got home I found Watch OS2 was available... Win Win!

Do whatever you want. Just keep in mind that Apple makes the best bands rights now, and most of them don't go well with the Sports line. If you're OK with that, then go ahead!

Yes, as long as you do it within two weeks.

I had the Pebble for a while and the lack of integration with Apple devices really bothered me. The Apple Watch is the perfect pairing device with the iPhone, and I wasn't able to get most of what I wanted with the Pebble. I sold it after a few weeks because I never used it. I also don't like the appearance of it,and Apple is one of the only companies that really considered people with small wrists.

Why have you posted this in a thread about returning the Apple Watch?
